another (probably a tad more expensive) way of getting very lean mince is to choose a piece of meat, say frying or stewing steak, that is pretty well fat free, ask the butcher to cut off the fat and to mince it in front of you. I haven't done that in this country, but it was commonplace when I was in the middle east if you needed minced meat to choose the meat first (at a Halal butcher, so might be worth asking at halal butchers here).

And to bulk it out, long before SW, I have used quorn or soya mince :) In fact, I've made chilli con carne (not really con carne obviously) with soya mince and even confirmed carne eaters haven't noticed. It's way cheaper than best mince.

    Marion, Skint Lynne,

I just thought it was me who couldn't get the hang of EE, so I too am still on red and green and find it very effective when I am on track, EE didn't work for me at all.

Claire, I agree about those chickens, and I have read on a health mag forum that Tesco don't put anything in them other than what they baste them with at the start so I think as long as you take that skin off, it's a pretty good choice. Better than a pack of kit kats, thats for sure!

Well done, everyone keep at it - summer's on the way!

TakeItEazy, you need a helpful colleague such as mine! She isn't dieting, but has done WW in the past, and each time one of us heads out of the office we gather up the glasses or cups and fill them with either cold or hot water. (Hot water is surprisingly nice once you've overcome the idea that it should taste of something. I don't drink tea or instant coffee or pop so it only leaves marmite or hot or cold water once I've had enough ground coffee :D )

when I stepped on the scales on WI it said id sts made the mistake of getting on them next day and gained a pound  that'll teach me :rotfl:begining to think my scales on the blink.

Anyway, I work in a school and am usually so busy that I forget to drink my water. Even at break time if im not on duty im usually doing some catch up resource stuff. Lunch is the only time I go near my bag [where the water is] and a couple times a week im outside at lunch. I know I should take my water into class but then id put it down and forget where id put it :).
    WILL TRY HARDER :rotfl:

Every supermarkets rotisserie chickens are different.
At the Budgens where I work We just take chickens off the shopfloor ,spit them up & there is nothing added. But in the branch down the road theirs come in part cooked & injected with oil. It is the same with somerfield & co-op ( my fiance works there) some flavours are free but some aren't.

I can understand why they say all rotisserie chickens are synned-as a precaution - but not all are.

In reality it's got to be a better choice than a pasty!!

Anyhow on another note I had a birthday this week with cakes & meals out etc I knew it was going to be bad but I thought I might put on 1lb not 2.5LB.
    Must get back on track.
hope everyone else has a better week

    Jo

    Hi

Sorry I've not been around the last couple of days. Been madly trying to find undies for my wedding day which is only 5.5 weeks away! Went to my local shopping centre and after having lost 5 stone 12 pounds the shop assistant said that they didn't do "bras big enough for me".:( Was very upset so have done a 3 hour round bus trip today to try and find some.

Will read back ASAP; but well done to all the losers and for those of you struggling well done for hanging on in there!:T

Got weigh in tomorrow. Very anxious. A few months' back it turned out I was gaining weight, altho I was sticking to the Plan - my portion control was unfortunately at fault. As I have a massive appetite I get very paranoid about whether I'm eating too much and thus find the scales only tell me the true answer which is why I'm in a state most of Thursday!

    My food diary for today;

Breakfast: Strawberries, Kiwi & Muller light yogurt

Lunch: 2 slices Nimble Wholemeal (b choice), 2 oz cheese (2 X a choice) and tomato & Coco Rocks cereal bar (4 syns)

    Snacks: 2 X Apple

Tea: Mushy Pea Curry with Batchelor's Savoury Rice & Muller Light Yogurt

Snacks: Scan Bran Cake (4.5 syns) & Options (2 syns)
