If you read the threads - we've covered this
The beta is time limited and betas aren't for everyone as they can be full of bugs.
Admittedly this is the final beta so as such should be reasonably stable but as a trial to see if the features are for you, it is suitable. But it should be remembered to those that install the beta, when the beta period is over, the product will not receive updates including security onesFreebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need. Hallo
My envelope came today with 2 discs for office professional - very quick service! However no instructions for a novice like me. So could anyone advise:
Why 2 discs?
Do I just put them in daughter's laptop and it tells me what to do?
She still has the trial version of office on her laptop - do I wait for this to expire first?
Any help appreciated.

Its relatively straight forward.
On the back of one plastic envelope is the product key. This is the install disk. The other disk is for office communicator which you probably won't need as its more for business use.
Insert the disk and select install, choose advanced and when asked which products to install click the top most box and click 'install all and sub features' or similar. Choose the other options as the defaults given. Once installed run windows updateFreebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need. Pass on your good fortune :A0 -

No need to reinstall. Simply enter the Product Key to your existing installation.0 -
Thank you Bugeyed and Jammin - I did not see the product code on the back! I will give it a go later today.

Well intentioned I know mate and if he/she had a trial of microsoft office 2007 professional installed then indeed he/she could do this. But in his/her first post he/she mentions the trial is the home and student version - which does not install all the software available in the pro version.
So entering his key would leave him/her short of several office programs.
Also, I would advise against 'upgrading' a trial pro version in this instance for anyone else in case it affects the licensing date - causing problems with the free upgrade offer - unlikely but not worth having microsoft claiming it was installed prior to the offer period and refusing the free upgrade to 2010. Microsoft don't exactly have a reputation for fair play.
So, although you could normally do as suggested - if you already have everything installed - in this case I recommend an uninstall of the trial and install from the disk - just to be sureFreebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need. Following a PM sent to me regarding the software by a person hoping to pick up cheap software to sell on via ebay, please note the following
1. I mentioned earlier that this is the full retail 'version'. By that, I mean that when this is installed, you have exactly the same product as the FULL retail version. The disks are supplied in an envelope, not a retail box and come with no other documentation other than a license key affixed to the disk envelope which is a plastic sheathe type envelope inside the postal envelope.
2. The disks as I have previously mentioned are quite clearly marked academic. All software sold via any student program is either marked 'student version' or when , as in this case, it is a full product, then they are marked 'academic'.
3. Attempting to sell these disks on is a clear breach of the microsoft licensing rules. They are effectively "not for resale" even though they are not marked such. This rule is enforced by microsoft on all student and academic software.
4. Microsoft actively watch all auction sites and will have any sale pulled down that involves student or academic software where they hold the 'intellectual' rights. Ebay always pull these and won't refund the listing fee.
As with most threads on MSE grabbits, the general idea is to provide fellow moneysavers with bargains. This offer is quite clearly that. It is never my intention for this thread to provide a sales income to unscrupulous sellers and I have warned the person who PM'd me that they are likely to lose money bulk buying this product.
Software4students have received an email from me warning of that persons intention (they were going to try to buy and resell 1000 copies by using multiple gmail addresses )
So, please fellow MSEs, enjoy this bargain, but please don't abuse this wonderful opportunity which could result in microsoft banning software4students selling this software on a 'trust' basis (i.e without the need to go through the student email address only sales routine)Freebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need.
