I'm finally going to try the evaluation. I miss having Outlook, plus some of the other features in my home edition, so I am going to try it to see if its worth paying for again.0

What this means is you get to buy Office 2007 at the current low price and upgrade immediately. Office 2010 'may' be priced the same by software4students when it becomes available, but no guarantee of that with microsofts pricing policy, so this is a great opportunity to purchase it at a very affordable price, so get in there by the end of September. (Software4students seem to have got an extended offer - see below)
You must acquire your copy by September 30th AND download the free upgrade by 31st October - or pay the fee for the physical disk. The download will be in the form of an ISO from what I understand, so you can burn your own physical disk saving this small fee. Check in the techie forum on how to burn an ISO file to disk.
How does Microsoft Office 2010 Technology Guarantee work?
Customers that purchase Office 2007 via Software4Students between March 5, 2010 and September 30, 2010, receive rights to Office Pro Plus 2010 and may acquire Office Pro Plus 2010 software when it becomes available at no additional license cost. Students must acquire the Office 2010 software by October 31, 2010 to take advantage of this Tech Guarantee. Thanks this is a great offer. I already have had Office 2007 for the past two years, so would that mean buying it again to get the free upgrade?
Yes. I am afraid so. I am in the same boat but will grab this offer and EBAY my previous copy (de-registering it first - done by uninstalling using add remove programs and leaving off for a month - the MS uninstaller registers it uninstalled via Microsoft update the next time it runs and after a month it can be installed on another machine so long as it wasn't a pre-installed version - i.e it must have been installed from a retail disk).
Reckon I'll get my money back or even make a small profitFreebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need. Pass on your good fortune :A0 -
From the Microsoft site
How much does the Tech Guarantee cost?
You must purchase a qualifying Office 2007 product in order to be eligible for the Tech Guarantee and have access to the Internet. If you are eligible for the Tech Guarantee, you can choose to download your upgrade at no additional cost or order a DVD for a fee. Once Office 2010 is available please return to https://www.office.com/techg for ordering and pricing information. Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery of the DVD.
Software4students do suggest there is a £5 charge to download the upgrade. I don't know why they think this but I have contact microsoft technical support who say it will be available free via their site. So remember to go to the link provided in the first post for your FREE upgradeFreebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need. I am right in saying that if i purchase MS Office Professional Plus 2007 at £46.99 I will be entitled to a free upgrade of MS Office Professional Plus 2010 when it is released later in the year?0

Yes. It really is a great deal. My first post tells how. Read the Microsoft link if you are unsure. Also the software4students page now states this. So effectively guaranteeing it

Totally legit, I buy from them all the time, all my friends and family too.
The only condition that software4students require is that you 'qualify' by having a person of school age in the family (Don't know anyone that doesn't.) but don't actually ask you to prove it. All you have to do is give a childs name and pick their school. In theory you could be making it up, they don't check because they aren't allowed to (data protection - you try asking a school if a child you aren't related to goes there and see how that works - lol)
Whereas the home and student version is only available to students, these are FULL retail disks. They are labeled 'academic' because that's the license but are NOT home and student and are not restricted to students only. They are not restricted in any way shape or form.
Also check out the other software they sell. Look at the price of windows 7 :T
They do have a restriction of one disk of each software per student that you register.
I have 2 grand children and both are registered. Even though they don't live with or near me.
My windows 7 and office 2007 enterprise are fully activated and having changed computer recently, I had to phone Microsoft to deactivate the old PC and move the software to the new one. They were only too happy to help and I did tell them the software is for the grand children to use.Freebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need.
