EDIT 20th MAY 2010 (due to new info for slightly lower price)
To purchase Office 2010 for the amazing price of £43.99
http://www.software4students.co.uk/Microsoft_Office_Standard_2007-details.aspx
This includes of a £5 digital download fee + Buying Office 2007 Standard from them at £38.99
You can still purchase Office 2007 Standard which qualifies for a free upgrade to Office 2010 Professional via Software4students
They are offering to upgrade from 2007 Standard to 2010 Professional (for the upgrade they do charge £5 fee for the download or £8 for a disk)
This does involve installing 2007 first then upgrading to 2010
Alternatively if you prefer the easy path - buy 2010 direct from them as below at £47.34

Microsoft is due to release its new version of office soon.

(or the standard version for £38.99)

Anybody buying office 2007 between now and Sept 30 2010 will qualify for a free upgrade to Office 2010

(free if you download the upgrade - a small charge for a DVD delivery) see here
Upgrade Offer from microsoft

The terms are here
offer terms

Now, to buy the product from an authorised retailer at £46.99
Link to buy
Office 2007 purchase link
This offer is for a TWO user or pc license. It is the full retail version
Not Home and Student
Microsoft Office 2007 Pro is £349.99 in PC World for 1 user
For Office 2007 Ultimate it's a shocking £549.99
pc world
So on it's own this is a stunning offer

It is allowed by microsoft to buy from this retailer. see
FAQ and Microsoft link

So that's it - get Office 2007 pro now, then download the upgrade when it comes available (via 1st link you can sign for an email when upgrade is available)

Office 2007 Professional and Ultimate both qualify for the same upgrade as Microsoft is not producing an Ultimate 2010 version.

The rule is simple - This software is only available to students and parents

You have to give a students name and the school/college/uni they attend
YOU DO NOT NEED A SPECIAL EMAIL ADDRESS such as '.edu'
You do not have to prove the student attends the school nor that you are the parent.
They trust you to be honest okay :A

So all you need to do is work out which version you want at
Microsoft store
Then pay Software4students
£38.99 for the standard 2007 free upgrade to Office home and business 2010
or
£46.99 for Professional 2007 free upgrade to Office Professional 2010
Freebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need. Pass on your good fortune :A

It isn't just for students. Parents are eligible and anybody can be a parent. ;)
This is how anybody can purchase the full version not the student edition
The student requirement is a 'technicality' and proof is not required.
Though of course I wouldn't recommend anybody to claim to be a parent when they aren't just to save a few hundred pounds on this software.
After all that wouldn't be ethical would it :A

I am a grandfather and legally purchased Office 2007 enterprise for my 'grandchildren' to use when they visit
This is permissible under the license agreement between Microsoft and Software for students

  • Its not just students and parents this is for. I'm an auntie and I have purchased from software4students for my nephew who I look after on a Saturday. I queried it with them first explaining that he does his homework at my house (he does!) but I didn't have any office software on my laptop and they let me buy from them.

Yes. All students can access the office 2007 student edition offer IF they have a student email address typically ending with '.edu'

The above offer is for the full retail edition with no requirement of a '.edu' address
AND is available to ALL students including those at primary school who typically don't have a student email address.

The student edition via the 'steal' link is for a downloadable version, you pay extra for the actual DVD (a nominal fee)

Software for Students now confirm on the sales page that this item WILL be eligible for the FREE upgrade to Office 2010. For anyone wondering whether they can really purchase this bargain without having a child at school, try entering the details (name and school) of a child in your family in the registration for access to software for students. The main eligibility factor is that the student must use the PC this is put on at least once. Which of course is impossible to prove that they don't. So literally anybody can purchase this FULL version. It is a glitch in Microsoft rules and they are aware of it. It seems they realise that it is better to sell copies this way than people to use pirated software, so accept that a glitch is necessary for those not willing to pay hundreds of pounds.
As stated above, my grand-daughter makes me eligible to buy. You can be a cousin, auntie, uncle or any other family member and the child makes you eligible.
