Well what you said is true to a degree....but in an ideal world most of us would love to sit at home with our kids! It doesn't mean that because we go to work that we don't care for and love them. I love my daughter so much but for financial reasons I work part time....it's very hard in this day and age to get buy on a single income. I wish everyone would stop making working mother's feel guilty. If your chosen nursery doesn't feel right then it probably isn't just take your kids out and look for something better.
I've been on a single income for 6 years. I work part-time and have never once put my children now 11 and 9 in a nursery. So it's not about making working mothers feel guilty. I am not against work. I just don't think it should be work at the expense of everyone and everything else.

Please don't all presume that because someone is a stay at home mum they are also on benefit. I don't even collect the benefit I am probably entitled to.

but they are saying that I signed a contract which requires 1 months notice in writing. Yes that would be fine but given this problem I said I wasn't going to put her at risk in the pre-school class! They will probably try to persue me for the months fees

That's okay.....just tell them that for as long as they continue to pursue you for the money, you will continue with your formal complaint through Ofsted.

  • Glad you have managed to work something out, don't fret too much, its hard leaving your kids with anyone at the best of times, - i have family i wouldn't leave mine with...

As far as childminders go i have a dear friend who is a childminder, she has 4 kids of her own, used to mind my eldest when we lived nearer and i personally think my kids are better off with her all day than they would be with me LOL. I called in during the holidays and she had a houseful of kids all happy as larry doing different activities and having a great time i don't know how she does it but shes marvellous with them.

Children need to be with other children away from Mum before they go to full time school wether Mum works outside the home or not IMO.

I completely agree, I sent my little boy to Nursery for two hours every morning to learn to socialise and play with others. While he was at nursery I shopped, met friends and did the housework. In the afternoons we could have a really good time and play and have fun together. It was so worth it because this morning on his first day at school one of his friends from nursery was waiting outside the classroom for him so they could go in together!

As the OP has updated this thread and let everybody know that she has resolved the issue, I have reported this thread and asked the Abuse Team to close this thread.

Although I'm not the Board Guide on this particlular board, it might be useful to remind everybody of some of the ground rules on here.

    1. This board is meant for Moneysaving topics. There is a Discussion Board which would be a better place to continue this contentious debate.

    2. Please be nice to other moneysavers. Everybody has different personal circumstances and different beliefs and values. Sometimes on this forum, it may be better to keep your opinions to yourself, particularly if they may offend others.

By all means feel smug if your children are at all with you all time or if you work and feel that your children are getting a better start in life mixing with others. That's great if you feel happy with your choices. I can't understand why people need to make other people feel bad about their choices. It is really sad to see people making comments that are just going to serve to make other people feel unhappy. :(
