  • good god, this thread is enough to put me off having kids altogether. Why do people think that having a child is a qualification for instant moral superiority?

I love the fact he is enjoying himself so much, he has good friends and loves it there.

I am happy with him being there, it's not coz I can't be !!!!d as you nicely put it. I work partly so that we can afford to live, and I also put him in nursery as it's fantastic at letting them do what kids love more than anything....playing with loads of other kids.

I really don't care what your views are on working mums and nursery's. Narrow minded people like you aren't worth bothering with. You can think what you want. I am happy with my choices, and will do exactly the same with my daughter when she arrives.
Oh....I'm not going to lie to you......At the end of the day, when alls said and done......do you know what I mean.........TIDY
  • well at least be honest and admit it may not have been the best thing for your son (who i dont doubt is happy) but it was the best thing for YOU !
:D I understand ALOT more than I care to let on :D
  • how much does it cost you to have him in full time nursery ?? I bet its more than £230

  • A person I used to work with put all three of her children into nursery nd the fees took ALL of her salary, so they had to live on her husband's.

I never understood why she went to work full-time. She could have worked part-time, paid less fees, and spent some time with the children. Not being judgemental, just wondering.

Wow, I did a lot of thanking there!

I think it's sad that there are parents on this thread concerned about the treatment children get at nurseries yet they still arn't prepared to look after them themselves and sacrifice a few things to be with their children. Surely their welfare is more important than your job, your mortgage or your adult quality time? No one will ever look after your children as well as you can. Not even the most expensive, highest qualified nursery in the world.

  • I have 3 kids and work part time 1 has been to nursey and two have been cared at home jointly with my husband - I personally would be a CRAP full time Mum, despite sincere wishes to be an earth mother/playleader/craft faciltator/etc my talents do not lie there so I work on my own buisness part time and its not about flash cars and holidays its about my sanity and happiness and the happiness and sanity of my children.

If I was at home full time I would suffer from depression, anger and poverty and so would my kids. I work part time and my kids have a happy confident role model who has time for them and the money to do nice things and also buy them clothes and food. I think in particular my daughter benefits as she seees me in both roles as do my boys who do not just see me as a provider of food and services.

Those of you who are judging the rest of us to be honest sound cross and angry people who work and with life in general and like you need to get out a bit more
  • Thank you Blessings3 - at last an honest working parent, :T

threads like this always make me LOL

As a mother there is always someone there to critisise you. I have people telling me that I was irrisposnisble to give up my career to look after my kids because it meant that when my husband left us I couldn't provide for myself and have had to go on benifits for the time being. Yet if I had put the kids in child care I would have had people condeming me for that too.

And now, I get the same argument, I'm either a scrounger of the state or a heartless woman who can't be aresd to look after her own kids.

Oh and if you choose not to have kids..well I've seen the abuse my sister has got for that choice! you would think she said she wanted to boil all babies alive and eat them, not just that she doesn't want to have kids!

    Women just can't win!
  • Everyone's personal circumstances are different and I think its unfair to say that a mother is a bad parent because they choose/need to go to work.

My DD was in nursery at a young age and I chose to go to work. I enjoyed my work and would still be working FT now if it wasnt for me being so ill, but that does not make me a bad parent!

I would rather work than claim benefits. Some people are OK having children, claiming benefits and not working...I am not one of them...but I am not saying that this is wrong....like I said...its a personal choice.
