Well we've had quite a nice day. OH took us all to the carvery shortly after I got up (at midday)! The sleeping tablets were late getting me to sleep but then stopped me waking up !! At least it was a day off so not too much of an issue...:p
A friend offered to do a free photo shoot for us to cheer us up which was really kind of her. :jIt was an outdoor shoot so we got a nice walk thrown in. It was my friend with 8!!! kids so the kids also had other kids to play with and I got to cuddle their latest addition who is now 17 weeks old.Aaahhhh
My DS wore a really nice River Island shirt that I bought for my OH a few years ago in the sale but which has never been worn before! He's made up with it which is good.:D
DS has also done some of the cleaning today, so house looking a little more respectable. I've been tidying my front room back up... but Ikea stuff not yet installed so no obvious place to put that...May end up taking some of it back... We will see. I went yesterday and had tea there - and they will give me back the cost (£9.80) of what I spent off furniture if I go back between certain dates which I thought was really generous!
Unfortunately OH has just taken the wheel off his bike it needs a new tyre - and he reckons his brake caliper on that wheel needs doing again - he think the bill could be up to £500. It was last year when we did it on the other wheel - and it would need to be done by a specialist garage miles away which is guttingButs its life so we just have to get on with it!
I ordered some perfume off the internet for DD - the first lot didn't arrive - so I ordered a replacement and then a week later the first lot arrived. I contacted the company and they said I could keep both! :money::j

Just got the kids' passport pictures signed - hoping to get that sorted tomorrow.
Kind of urgent since we're going away at start of June!
OH is putting up a little shelf in the downstairs toilet for me. I am fed up of books on the floor - it doesn't feel very hygenic - so I bought a little shelf and brackets for about £4.:money: For once he seems to be doing it straightaway which is fab. :jThe kids have commented too that he is spending more time with them - so he is trying. We are hoping to go to a different NT place tomorrow afternoon if the weather is nice - and hopefully try and do a 4 mile walk. That would have been out of reach before my blood transfusion and our recent weight loss!:p
I'm still making up my mind about my hall cupboard whether what I've bought is the right solution or whether I need something else... Ditto for DS's room.... I'm just trying to make our house shine by giving everything I place and decluttering - and just being more organised...
Targets in priority order are- Hall cupboard
- Utility
- DD's room - she's been so blessed recently with new clothes (even if second hand) :money:that she's now run out of space and I need to reorganise:rotfl::rotfl:and pass some of the blessing on!!:j
- My study/guest room - which is just a dumping ground at the moment

Hi
I was late sending off my passport for aholiday that was only 3 weeks away. I paid for the service at the Post Office where they check and send it off - it was not much more than sending it special delivery.
Within a week the new passport had arrived and 2 days later my old one arrived back with a note to say that the new one was on it's way!!!
These were delivered by a courier in a car (might just be my area though) at 7am!!!
I'm sure if you go to the Post Office on Tuesday you will have the passport back within 2 weeks (allowing extra time for bank holidays).
I'm sorry your arm is still playing up, my DH has nerve damage in his head (which we think was caused by the hospital not disgnosing the correct infection in his eye). He has had the same pain in his head since January, he finds it very wearing and is on quite a high dose of Gabapentin and has just started a new tablet.
We too have thought about suing but not sure if we can be bothered, we hope he gets better although the long term prognosis is not good at all.
With regard to the kitchen I would be tempted to adjust it to how you want it and not bother with spending 000's on a new one. At least you can custom everything to fit the space available.

Hi EE
I wrote a long reply and lost it!! Sorry to hear your DH isn't well - hope things do improve for him and he beats the odds. I considered Gabapentin but someone suggested that the side effects might not be great for me - ie munchies etc
OH did the post office passport thing yesterday so hopefully they will be back soon. We now need to check if we have EHIC cards in place - and if not order them asap. I also need to contact the insurers and make sure we are covered for known things wrong with us LOL
The kids are about to do an Easter egg hunt, DS is busy hiding DD's eggs - then they will swap over... and she will hide his eggs. I got them some little Easter treats too. We're having a gorgeous roast beef dinner with some M&S mash and parmentier potatoes. Because it was such a big joint of beef we were able to put it in the oven before going to church. OH is just doing some vegetables for us now. We are planning to go to Attingham Park later - a National Trust property - hoping to do a 4 mile walk while we are there...
I weighed myself today and I see to be going backwards a little - a bit too many snacks in the last few days.
I gave my friend some of the clothes that no longer fit me - as well as some from my MIL - and she looked lovely today which was nice. I had a nice chat with her and another friend when we were at church. I was telling the second friend to stop "shoulding" all over herself (I should be or do this) as it had the same effect as Sh*t - she needed to love herself and value herself and then perhaps she can relax and have fun - rather than never feeling good enough. I am hoping we may go out one day this week and perhaps have a chat or do something together. OH is hoping to go our for a drink with her husband. It was one of those times - when you listen to the advice you give others - and think - I really should apply that to myself!
Hope you are all having a lovely weekend. It is not quite as hot today but that should make our walk easier actually as if it is too hot its harder!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi SH, you gave good advice to your friend, which I hope she takes. I saw something that made me stop and think recently. "Love thy neighbour as thyself" might often be better rewritten as "Love thyself as they neighbour" because we are generally much more forgiving of others than we are of our own failures. Happy Easter! Satchmo xWhat would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0

Hi Satchmo thanks for coming out of lurkdom!!:T Hope you've had a good day... Yeah this person I was talking to is a fantastic friend and parent - but is always giving out and has never really learned to love and nurture and look after herself. It is something I am still learning too but you're never too old to begin... Yes we are required to love ourselves if we are to have anything to give others! I told her she was failing the second greatest commandment which is as you say "love your neighbour as you love yourself":rotfl:
Well we've had a nice walk today. It was not a disney momenttho as DD spent a lot of time whinging about her toe etc as we walked around which drove us mad! DS walked on ahead as he had had enough of her. But at least we got some exercise... I thought it was a 4 mile walk but actually it was 2 miles but the good thing was that we found it easy and could easily have walked further :j- whereas the last time we went there we struggled!:o
DD is now in the bath having had her tea. We still need to wash her hair but planning to get her into bed early. I think we had allowed her to stay up to late and she was over-tired. DS is also looking pretty tired. Need to try and get him to bed at a decent time - having done some revision as he has 3 days of exams! Not fair really sandwiched between the bank holidays but there we go. OH would like to go for another walk tomorrow - but I don't want to go to the same place he does so not sure what will happen....
At some point this week I want to go to Debenhams... If I can find where I secretly wrote down my pin:p - I have a £5 voucher I could use... and they have a sale onAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi Gill and others
Thinking now may put up some glass shelves in the kitchen - and see if we can get some kind of equipment to reseal the laminate on the doors....?:money: I've found some at B&Q that are quite nice.... But OH had hurt his arm today sorting out his motorbike so I took pity on him and didn't buy it yet (as it would have created work for him).
However I did get him to put up a mirror in our bedroom that we'd had 5 years and never put up!It has 3 curved mirrors (kind of a smaller version of the wave type mirrors that Ikea do) I gave DD mine and hung it in her room for her and she was delighted!:j I also got OH to fix one of the drawers in her room and the bottom of her bookcase and he put 2 new handles on her wardrobes as they fell off (years ago) Better late than never :T I'm really trying to make this the year that our house shines - starting with decluttering, fixing things, touching up paint and if necessary buying new storage solutions!
I touched up the paint in our bedroom - painting over a tester patch I painted about a year ago! Bedroom looks calmer again. I also stripped the bed in our room - still need to make it again tho. I've had loads of energy today which has been really good :T and I've made maximum use of it!
I also bought a white four wicker basket cabient for my hallway (the baskets act as drawers) - so I've been able to put my tablecloth and serviettes in the bottom drawer, and in the top I've put all my shoe polish, shoe sprays and stuff, which leaves another one for hats and not sure what to put in the other one. This is all again - following the "toothbrush" principle- put things where you actually use them so that it creates less mess!
I'm half tempted to buy another one and put it in the corner of our lounge - for mine and DD's things.... It was £40 (Wilkos) though so need to be sure it is the right solution! I was able to move the previous white hall table (kind of tall thing about 30cm square) with a single white basket into the bathroom to provide some storage in there...:) I still need to decide exactly what I want to put in it tho, but I may buy a nice plant for in there to put on top of it
I also got a moveable wardrobe hanging system for DS with a cover from Argos for about £15 - pleased with that. I will take back about £100 worth :money:of stuff to Ikea hopefully. I am also going to buy DS an extra mattress about 10cm thick (£25) from Ikea to make his daybed more comfortable. The mattress he's got just isn't thick enough....
I've spent most of the rest of the day sorting out DD's room - which had got completely overloaded with stuff again - sorting out stuff for the poor childrenand trying to find places to fit what was left:p! Also trying to get DS to sort out his room! His room is just terrible! :eek:As in he's not very good at throwing things away, putting things in the laundry basket etc... so he got a rude awakening today as I refused to take "no" for an answer:rotfl:I made him turn his PC off - that helped a lot!
I have spent a fortune this week. I bought 2 pairs of shoes at Clarks - they were 30% off a second pair :money:I can hardly ever find shoes to fit so think it was justified
Bye for now! I'm off the rest of this week and I think that has had a major positive effect on my mood. Feel like a load has been lifted off me that I didn't know I was carrying:AAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
