Well I've taken the stuff back - unfortunately the stuff I bought DS added up to the same amount. At least it wasn't extra tho:money:. He does genuinely need it as he'd outgrown most of his clothes. I bought him new converse style shoes £8 (got £2 off because they were marked), £3 flip flops, £18 shirt and £18 black cotton trousers. I have promised to buy him some £16 black linen shorts when they have his size in stock later this week. He should then have what he needs for the holidays.

Just swimming costume/bikini for me to buy nearer the time now.

We did the walk into town and I found it really easy:j. I love spending time with my son - I love his company. DD's back now and has had a lovely day too. Just had a guilt free cupcake as I'm sure my walk burned it off! Was able to buy DS a pepsi in Costa using my points which was nice....

Hi SH - the walk into town sounded good.

I spent a wasted morning going through car insurance websites and kept losing my info cos I pressed the wrong button or the dratted 'puter blipped!!!!! My insurance is due mid-month so whilst dh did a bit of concreting in the garden I thought I'd be in control and not on the last minute as I usually am with such things. What a waste of a morning - I found out I already had the cheapest - so I could have saved myself lots of agro!!!!!!!

Headed to Blackpool this afternoon - had a lovely walk along sea front (at far end away from tacky touristy bits!!) then treated us to tea at our fave cafe - not bad only £14 for us both. Hopefully we walked far enough to walk tea off!!

I have my swimming stuff in car ready to go after work tomorrow - I have really wasted my swim/gym membership this year as I have to pass home before I arrive at pool with this new job - my old job I passed the gym FIRST - so got into the habit of going on my way home. MUST DO BETTER.

Don't be too hard on yourself SH - it takes some getting used to - getting your head around the idea of an op. A 'little' spending on treats is fine to cheer yourself up - I think I saw a bit of me and the way I've acted over years 'comfort spending' - I finally got my wake up when I was off ill facing half pay and not sure if I'd be fit to do my job. You have done so well getting df. Be kind to yourself - you deserve it :)

Hi Milann - I had the identical experience on my car insurance. I was already with the best supplier.:money: I need to change my home insurance - I can definitely get it for £100 less -:money: still not decided who I'm going with finally tho... I think you're right too that I did deserve some treats - I need to reign it back in now tho.

On Monday night I decided to clean the kitchen cupboard door fronts and my DD helped by cleaning the doors and things - and I decided to paint the kitchen window sill - it is now bright and shiney again. I also painted the lounge window sill and took down the curtains. I am going to go out shortly and replace the curtain pole if I can as this one has always bent in the middle. OH agrees there's no point putting the curtain back up just as they are. Not very MSE but it does contribute to making our house brighter, lighter and more beautiful. We've done almost nothing to it (other than painting the kids rooms and the kitchen and replacing 2 internal doors) in the 5 or so years we've lived here.... so now I look around and see everything that needs doing....

I also painted the inside of the front door. My plan now is to gradually paint the woodwork around the house but preferably only where there is no carpets or where OH can perhaps take the doors off as I don't want to risk getting paint on the carpet and I do normally end up spilling some. I was going to repaint DD's furniture but the paint has gone off and is unusable so we are probably going for a different colour now...

I checked quidco the other day and I am going to get money back that I spent at sports world instore which is nice....:money:

I went to the gym yesterday with DS - I did 30 minutes on the treadmill - I was really pleased :j- I found it easy - on a much higher speed and higher incline than I could before so I was really encouraged.

Today I walked to work and back 1.2 miles each way so I was very pleased with myself. I did it in 20 mins :jeach way whereas before the transfusion it took me 30 minutes. I also took my own lunch to work. So I saved on lunch and £2.20 parking result!:money: I found it easy and might still go to the gym once my tea has gone down.

I rang OH earlier - and he made us chicken korma and rice for tea - and gave it me as soon as I got home:cool:. He also picked up DD for me so I could work longer as I only got into work at 11 so needed to work til 7pm to make up for it.

Hi CMD - thanks for the encouragement. Walked to and from work again today so another 2.4 miles clocked up. Saved again on lunch and parking as took dinner with me. Did spend some advantage card points on some lipstick and applicators for DD's party and some cash on other makeup for DD's party at Savers (but then forgot them and left them at work). My weight has gone up slightly this last week or so which is disappointing but my fat percentage has gone down a percentage point etc...

The weight will drop off you soon with all that walking! Do you enjoy it? I find listening to music (when I am not with Max) really makes me enjoy it and walk faster!

I really hope so!! I do enjoy walking - I use it as an opportunity to think and unwind. I live so close to work now that if I drive I haven't actually switched off by the time I get there - and similarly in a morning I'm not quite ready to be there if that makes sense.

I still had energy left despite walking home to go to the gym and I did another half an hour on the treadmill mostly at 8 or 10 incline, :j:j:jsome at 5 and at a speed of 4.8. I burned off nearly 300 calories so I was thrilled to bits. :j:j:j DS came with me too - and he had already done a long walk today too. We've reduced his internet access until he can prove he's exercising and socialising enough - and it seems to be working.

I've told DD to find out about Brownies and will be exploring that as something for her to do.

I am so made up with my fitness level - it is so much better than it has been for years so hopefully I will start to see a difference in my thighs and bum which haven't shrunk much on my diet so far!!

I still have energy left despite nipping to Mr As after that. I think it illustrates why I wasn't sleeping - I just wasn't burning off enough energy...! I am sleeping much better now. I am at the hospital tomorrow tho for a scan - hopefully my sister has remembered she's supposed to be coming with me....

Sis has remembered she is coming with me - after sending her a facebook message!!

I'm up earlier than usual today as I have to go and get an injection.... then work a couple of hours before going to the hospital for a yacky scan and tests.... I should then find out whether the injection has shrunk fibroids or not and how bad the picture still is

I haven't lost weight this week - I have dropped another fat percentage point. I am now at 37.5% fat whereas I was originally 47% fat - so at least that is something tangible and positive that I can focus on to see my efforts are paying off.... Clothes are fitting better too - even my smaller sized ones...

Thanks semazen. How are you finding it here at MSE - hoping everyone is making you feel welcome!

We've paid off over £24K since joining MSE - and I felt a hopeless case at the start... It's amazing what you can achieve when you put your mind to it. Having said that I feel that "shopaholic" is definitely an apt description and I still fall off the wagon from time to time.

Today's scan went ok - as far as I could tell she didn't find anything extra to worry about. The scanner was very patient and explained things well and let me see the screen which was reassuring. I also had my injection today. I did 2 hours work but hopefully won't have to make the rest of the time up

I went to the gym for a flying half hour visit tonight too and then came home and baked an orange loaf cake as you do! I made DS shower as he had been to a school disco and come home with his hair soaking wet. DD was still up at 10!! So sent her to bed when I got back from the gym.

OH has just put up my new curtain pole - kind of brushed chrome effect with metal rings and glass crystal finials from B&Q - it looks very nice. Now need to readjust the curtain and get it stuck back up... I am toying with the possibility of having a change and putting up a different pair of curtains from our old house... I would have to go and look for them in the loft so will decide tomorrow.

DD fancies a blue bedroom so potentially need to go hunting thro our other curtains anyway as I did have some gorgeous turquoise and silver curtains at my old house.... and I kept the curtains as I was so in love with them... A friend had made them for me from material I bought at Abakhan and I think that made them extra special!

Hi guys - I got up at 10am today:) which for a weekend was pretty good especially considering I only went to bed around 1am.

OH went up in the loft and found my old curtains for me.:j I have put them up but think they are too overpowering and patterned for this room. Our old room was much bigger and had a blue carpet and very light creamy yellow walls. The curtains are red, blue and cream but highly decorated in kind of strips of different patterns but there is too much red, and since my carpet and sofas are a weird shade of red, and I have lots of other red in the room it is just too overpowering. I think I'll just wash my old ones tomorrow - dry them - iron them if I have to and then put those ones back up. The pole itself is great though and the glass crystal finials make a nice effect on the wall and look nice with all the crystal lights in the room.

I also went round the house with a tub of no more cracks stuff and filled in all the holes and cracks which did make things look a lot better (and is good prep if we do end up repainting the house).

OH found my old turquoise and silver curtains and DD reallys thinks they will look nice in her bedroom either with the paint as it is - or I could use some teal/turquoise paint I bought a while ago on the wall that is currently metallic purple (and therefore take one paint tub back or swap it for a different colour for a different room). If I did still need to repaint the other walls I will need to think again about colour matching and make sure it is suitable. I may then move her current curtains into my study/guest bedroom as they would be better than the kiddie curtains I have up at the moment!

We then went to the gym. I got a trainer there to give me a new programme. :j He used "therapy bands" which to me are like bungee cord with handles that you use for resistance training. He gave me about 6 different exercises to do and told me to just use the treadmill for warming up and cooling down. He reckons I've lost about 40%:eek::eek: of my muscle power in my left arm which is scary but feels this is a safe way of getting it back. He thinks I just need to come 3 or 4 times a week for 30-40 minutes and I'll be fine.

His attitude was walking wouldn't do much for me - and that I kind of need to shock my body into by doing something different... He also pointed out that I was holding my hold left side and neck wrong :o- so suggested I do the exercises in front of a mirror to try and get good posture again... I then did abut 20 minutes on the treadmill before having a shower and going in the pool for a "family time" with the kids. He reckons getting my body into shape is 80-90% diet and the rest is exercise - but it has to be the right sort. He also said I was eating the right amount of calories which was reassuring.:)

We then had a mad rush round to get ready for going out to an event tonight where we had to bring some of the food. (We were our normal 20 mins late) I even put a load of washing on before we went out. It went alright but me and DD were way too hot so I let DD play outside and I went and helped out in the kitchen. I felt very virtuous and did lots of washing up and drying up - but now my feet are killing.:( I had a nice chat with a few people I hadn't talked too much for a while tho which was nice.

I've put one load in the wash and put some stuff in the dryer and asked OH to help out a bit with straightening the house as it seems to be messy again. I am trying to wind down with coffee (and about 100 calories of chocolate) and its working as I am now feeling naturally sleepy. So I think I may sign off now and see if I can get to sleep without taking as many tablets... ;)

Thanks for reading and good luck on your own journey....
