Well I've just bought my home insurance with MoreThan- hopefully will get £70 :money:back from quidco at some point... Things have been slow to pay out recently but I remember finding that problem in the past - Just have to trust it will pay eventually. Got a good deal with better cover than my renewal for at least £100:money: less so that is good.
Had a good day today - walked to work and back - but walked home so fast as was running late - that by the time I picked DD up I was literally shaking  so decided to give the gym a miss tonight!:o OH went tho which is good.
I took DD to look for decoration for her room, we found some mirror letters saying Life is beautiful for £1.49 :money:for her room, plus a notice board for about £4 (her birthday money) which DS has decorated for her with left over curtain fabric (after I bought a staple gun for £4), It looks very pretty now - I intend to buy some elastic from the pound shop and then wind it round in a diamond pattern - like changing rooms used to - to finish it off. She also spent some more of her money on 4 memo boards 99p each - like wipe boards which we have attached to her wall with sticky velcro.... She likes it - not what I would choose...
We have also swapped some pictures round in her room, and hung one extra picture. I think once we have the mirrored letters up (using OH's laser line to get the line steady once he can find it again) and get the notice board up - then her wall decoration will be "finished". I/OH then just need to finish painting the woodwork in the room - including her dressing table and bedside table - and touching up a bit on her chair.
I also picked up some food and toiletries from Home Bargain - it was so much cheaper! diet pepsi for 79p etc :money:
I am feeling much fitter, happier and calmer again which is nice. Hoping to work from home tomorrow which is nice in itself - saves me about 40 mins, plus saves me the cost of dinner and parking:money:and it is usually a lot less stressful and I get more done. Win win all round!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi guys
Well I've just packed the dishwasher and done a mini-tidy up of the front room ready for home working.... I really can't concentrate when its a mess. Currently having my coffee and porridge... I've also just cancelled my home insurance renewal - I told them they were a rip off by at least £150 and told them I wasn't impressed all within about 3 minutes so pleased wiht that....
I've just weighed myself because it's weigh in day - I am about half a pound to a pound heavier than last week which is disappointing but it could be due to all the cake that was floating around last week!!! My body fat percentage calc is still okay. I will do all my hip and waist measurements in a bit and see what they come out at and hope they are improving even if my weight isn't! Hope to get to the gym tonight
DD was trying to get out of school today - so OH went and saw the teacher and explained we think it is just hypochondria/school refusal again - teacher smiled and said fine so hopefully she will stay in school. I've let OH take my car - he just didn't fancy using his motorbike in the rain plus its such a faff getting his gear on... I'm working from home today so shouldn't need it and if there was a problem I can walk to work in 20 minutes and to her school in 10-15 so no real issue...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

- Work is going better - lots of flexi credit - hope to finish work early friday (birthday saturday) My boss and colleagues seem to think I am doing well
- DD likes streetdance but not judo - so will only have to pay for one a week not both:money:
- DD and DS done well making a cake amd decorations to stick on using the icing packs I bought for DD's cake:A - but OH not got round to doing his bit.
- OH has left buying my pressie to late and they are sold out
- OH is fixing his motorbike and having the roofer round on my birthday so that sounds so exciting so far!! I think I might go out with kids rather than go spare!!

Hi SH
sorry your birthday isn't panning out too well.
I forgot to update you about sister's friend who has been in hospital. She had originally been in (apparently) a few months ago and was going to have keyhole, but they couldn't do it, so she'd already been in once, which sort of prepared her. She has had surgery, everything went well, and is now home and fine. Her husband and daughters are running round after her.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Hi Tirl - Yes I think generally things are improving.
Gill - well OH's never have a clue about birthdays really do they
However - I had a manic day at work yesterday, got there late never did catch up, never got a proper lunch etc but nipped to MrAs on the way home where I saw that an outside table and 4 chair and parasol set in red had dropped from £150 to £100 - so OH has bought me that. Still hoping to get swing too for when I'm off recovering but they've not had in stock so far!!
I went out with OH including to the pub for a couple of hours but that was our first time out together this year - so we had a lot to talk about... Hopefully it will help mend some fences and move things forward... We've agreed to try the whiteboard approach of list of jobs so he's aware of the list of things that need doing that run thro a woman's brain continually..... and that just don't exist at all for men.... Let's hope that moves things forward.
Birthday tomorrow, so I also baked some cupcakes last night to take in. Planning to finish early today as I've had enough of this week!!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well I finished a little bit early. They'd remembered to do my card which was nice and a friend who wasn't in today said we could go out for a birthday meal today.
Managed to reserve and pick up the gazebo swing set from Wilkos today (for my birthday) - so set for really nice pressies. OH said that he bought me some wrap ups which is good.... Kids have worked really hard on the cake....
I have decorated DD's noticeboard and put it up in her room. She's made up with it which is all that counts. I managed to get her a £4 white board using her money yesterday from MrAs which she has been using to school her teddy bears already. She keeps telling them off for not concentrating and telling them they won't get to be VIP of the day if they don't sort themselves out and get their maths done LOLAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Glad you got some nice stuff. White board sounds like a plan. Things that may be glaringly obvious to you just don't register with the men in your life (you can probably include DS in that too)

thanks Gill
DS and I just went on a walk - tried to do a short one but was 11194 steps or about 5.2 miles according to phone... Completely shattered now... It was too far. We did stop at a pub for a quick drink but not long enough to recover as obviously getting very late/dark.... Was a bit scary towards the end - lots of drunks around etc...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well guys over the year - I have achieved my goal of being able to be debt free if we choose too (the money is sat in the bank stoozing).
I got made permanent in my job - just before I was diagnosed with severe anaemia - had blood transfusion - which led to arm nerve damage, severe pain etc. Started meds which led to feeling both hyper and sleepless - went thro lots of different things before finding something I could live and work with....
Now have operation booked for the big H and my arm pain is slowly improving and I have started to go back to the gym.
Considering that in Janaury just hoovering the front room meant I had to sleep for 3.5 hours I've come such a long way in now bieng able to do a 5 or 6 mile walk!
I have booked a holiday abroad which is not quite paid off yet but should be soon.... and we are reasonably on track moneywise. I have also lost and kept off 2 stone this year and am losing body fat % and inches which is the true test!
I still want to do these other things I posted this last Aprilsavingholmes wrote: »Hi guys
:TThanks to everyone who has supported me since I joined MSE. :T
As part of that over the next year I aim to:
a) get and stay completely debt free (other than perhaps funding a car / mortgage)
b) fund my business set up costs while working
c) after my operation, grow my business in the evenings and weekends through blogging, twitter etc, affiliate links and coaching so that when if this job ends or I choose to leave, I can do coaching full time or at least only do other work part time
I do enjoy studying so am interested in an MA in Creative Writing and becoming an NLP Master Coach etc (the list goes on) but these are all expensive things to do - and I think for me may be a form of procrastination! Perhaps I need to get on and do rather than have a bit of paper giving me permission.... I think I need to resist the temptation to do courses costing more than a few hundred pounds until after I am debt free. So please feel free to help me stay on the straight and narrow there....

We are now much fitter and healthier so lots of things are improving in our lives. We are now working on making ourselves fitter and healthier as well as making the house and garden sparkle. For me we are starting to go beyond mere survival to thriving which is fabAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
