    Hi

good news on the walking, I found that using up energy gave me more energy. I'm sure there's a proper explanation for it. Friend of my sister has gone into hospital this weekend for the same op as you, and was frantically tidying the house all week. But then again, she does hoover every room, every day! She said it will get her down when she comes out, if she sees things not done. She is more fortunate though, in that she has teenage daughters who have been brought up to keep her exacting standards.

    Thanks Gill and CMD

Gill - please let me know how your friend gets on (if its encouraging) as I am quite fearful about the op...

Last night I actually got to sleep at around 11pm and cut down the valium from 4 tablets to 3 to avoid withdrawal symptoms.;) I have also reduced my painkillers today... I got up late today - and even had another doze for about an hour before having a late lunch. My legs feel really stiff and painful today when I sit down - and yet I've just been for a 2+ mile walk with DS and that was okay.:j

After lunch I painted one of DD's walls in her bedroom with a teal/turquoise paint we've had for a year. I originally bought it for the bathroom but didn't feel it looked right in there... I've put 2 coats over what was metallic purple and it looks lovely. I also painted a small patch in her bedroom in B&Q's "sky" light blue colour. It looks nice. I wanted one feature wall and then the other walls in a lighter colour. Her favourite colour has recently switched from pink to light blue.

The curtains she's having were from a pattern called "sari" turquoise, green, deep blue and silver pattern - I need to find some hooks and I need to finish painting in there first. I've always loved them so it will be fab to have them up again. :j:jI still need to decide what colour to paint her dressing room table and chair and her bedside table (which are currently a grubby pale "madamoiselle" pink). I may end up painting them back white - or a lumitec light reflecting paint called "frosted dawn." which is white tinged with a peachey colour....

She also asked for crystal bead pendant style light shade for her birthday so I think it will all look fab when we've finished. OH will need to take down the halogen 4 strip light fitting and change it for her. It's her birthday Friday and her party next Saturday - so since I've now started... I might try and get it finished for then!:D I still have loads of energy so as long as I'm organised enough to do some each night before she goes to bed it should get done. I will need ladders :p for the next bit tho.

It was nice spending time with DS - it was him who suggested the walk. Apparently we were out an hour and half just walking and talking. We get on brilliantly - I just hope I didn't vent too much for his young shoulders... He's very level headed and wise for his age tho... and was quoting "the secret for teens" back at me bless him!:rotfl:

Well I'm going to go and take some tableets now in the hope I can get an early night and get up at a decent time tomorrow. I may go and find my work phone and put that on charge too. On top of all the above and everything yesterday I have of course also done all the washing!:rotfl:

Was able to get up okay this morning but slept really badly last night - I'd cut down to 2 tablets which was evidently a mistake - I got up at about 3am and took a 3rd but it still didn't really sort things out. I did manage on 2 less cocodomol and 2 less tramadol yesterday and I didn't take any ibuprofen so that was good - but I didn't use a computer or drive at all which are both activities that seem to contribute to how bad my arm is...

Well I need to get up and going... I will admire what I've done in DD's room along the way.... I am planning to take fruit with me for lunch today so need to get that organised along with milk and coffee too!

Sounds like you did great work over the weekend with DD's room! Will you have to nag your OH to sort out the light or will he do it off his own bat?

Hi CMD - I think in the new mood (rules?) pervading the house he will do it this weekend for her... It is her birthday after all!

I strongly suggested that he sorted the clean washing into piles while me and DS went to the gym (and he'd already been on his way home) - and I was really shocked to find that he had so that is a major improvement. Unfortunately I am compulsively shopping again at the moment on groceries but still to excess... so I think I need to ban myself from going and either get it delivered or get someone else to go for me as even if I go in for one thing I come out having spent about £80! It is getting ridiculous and completely unaffordable now...

I am in the process of making an orange loaf cake again but it doesn't seem to be rising very well so at the moment I'm worried... really hope it sorts itself out!

I did 15 minutes on the cross trainer today and found it didn't really hurt my arm at all (altho I had taken painkillers before I went) so I think I can do that after all. I felt like I was dying last time I was doing it (when I was severely anaemic but didn't know) but today found it find. I also did 10 minutes on the treadmill and tried to do about 30 minutes of the exercises with the resistance bands... Hopefully that will improve things. I think I need to just get over the fear of using my arm. I have taken 2 less co-codomol than normal and have cut out the ibuprofen altogether whereas originally I was supplementing with that. I am going to focus on trying to reduce my tablets down now....

I feel really wired tonight and full of energy despite my gym visit and shopping trip and making cake and cleaning the kitchen and working about 7 hours!! So either my body is manufacturing loads of energy or I am completely wired and strung out on the weird cocktail of drugs I am taking. I have just taken the valium to try and calm things down again.

I had a nice meeting with my boss - she was really supportive - I even suggested someone to replace me while I recover from my op which she is going to think about... I also talked to her about the difficulties in fitting all my hours in when I'm not in the best of health and sleeping properly - and the need for counselling before the op - my Occ Health appt is a month away - she is going to get it moved if she can as they may agree temporary reduced hours at their cost now which would make a massive difference to me...

I am in this weird place at the moment where I have loads of physical energy but limited mental concentration.... Its hard to explain to people who've not been there...

Sounds like your OH is definitely putting in the effort. Can't believe all the physical energy you have. I think it is wonderful!

I think I may have reigned in my spending somewhat although we still have a lot more month to go on the calendar!

I am still over spending :eek::eek:- particularly in relation to DD's birthday! Its amazing how quickly it all adds up.

I am going to try and make her a birthday cake in the shape of a makeup bag with eye shadow and lipstick made from icing!! I have cheated and bought ready roll icing and coloured icing to use as it is my first attempt... But a friend at work has told me how to do it so will give that a go hopefully tomorrow night...

I have spent a lot of this evening wrapping 2 pass the parcels including little pressies at each stage and filling party bags. I also have another treat bag for prizes for other things along the way.

I have also reviewed the makeup we are using with DD and she is happy / thrilled! :jI have also bought sweets for her to hand out to her class on her birthday so she is pleased about that. She doesn't know it but her nan is picking her up from school on Friday as a surprise:T - she did ask if me or her dad could I said I didn't think it would be possible ;)

I've had a blood test today. Then invited a friend from work home for a quick lunch which went well and a lot cheaper than Costa!! :money:I have cut out nearly all lunch time spending recently which is good at least and got DS to take sandwiches more :money:We had a lovely time and she admired my garden - we didn't want to go back to work but we did eventually!

I then chatted to my boss about my ambitions going forward and my training and development. I also talked about my flexi-time and my medical appointments and she has agreed to give me flexi-credit :Tfor all of them and potentially will let me reduce my hours by a couple of hours a week:T if I need to in the run up to my operation - which will so take the pressure off. I was so pleased and relieved that I cried:o which was slightly embarrassing but there we go!!

I then went to someone's afternoon hen night - it was all of the team - and was a little on the expensive side but since I rarely go out it was a nice change! We also talked about our kids and what they get up to and I mentioned my DS wants to join army cadets or similar and quite a few of them had let their kids do that and had a fab time. One of them had their kids join air cadets and they found it fab and at 13 were allowed to go up in a glider - so I have now agreed that DS can join and he is going to do it with a friend. It is likely to cost us £2-10 a month plus his boots but it should keep him fit, healthy, and hopefully out of trouble and be a great adventure for him so I think it should be good. He is absolutely made up - I think if he does this - and we don't end up renewing the gym - then this will be a good replacement activity.:D

DD is now doing streetdance and judo and certainly so far seems to be loving that!:j

DS has had his exam results and other than his English hasn't done as well as we would have expected :( - I think though we need to teach him how to revise and then make him do it. We also need to buy him some top up books to help him learn the things he's not grasped. His maths teacher tho has said she won't take this mark in isolation and his results over the year have been okay so he won't change set which is a massive relief!:)

So a good day over all. OH has also been to the gym which is positive. I have lost another inch within a week even tho my weight isn't really shifting...:j:j

Hi when my DS was the same age as yours he was in Sea Cadets. I wasn't too happy as thought it a bit 'military' but he loved it. He got to go camping, sailing, all sorts of stuff that I couldn't have done with him. He also learned to shoot, row a boat, first aid - and most importantly, how to clean his boots!

Re: the revising, its a very hard skill to learn I think. I've never really grasped it and I'm over 50!

Hi Gill - that is reassuring thank you. He was so excited last night - absolutely buzzing! Apparently they go twice a week for a couple of hours plus any of the lengthier activities... Let's hope it lives up to his expectations...

I had a horrible dream that woke me up this morning - which is that 'cos of the drugs I am taking for my ailments... I crashed my car into a friend's car and other cars on the estate even tho they don't even live near us!!! It was such a relief to wake up but I was practically shaking!

At least it got me up early. I then remembered I hadn't paid a CC bill - so need to sort that out today asap
