They couldn't even arrange for me to be seen any quicker by a pain clinic or a nerve specialist... So think over Easter will contact a solicitor and see if I have a case for compensation.
I've had quite a nice night - unexpectedly really. I'd ordered a book off amazon called "flip it" which is all about turning negatives into positives. I took my DS and a friend to bowling and sat and read it while they played - I am now half way thro! It did work to lift my mood so will carry on reading it and trying to practice it over the next few days. I spent the rest of the evening trying on clothes combinations from the next size down in my wardrobe which was nice. I've found another skirt, some gym trousers and some tops I'd forgotten I had and they are really slimming. I've sorted two more bags of clothes out for a friend of mine which also made me feel very virtuous!
Well hope you've all had a good night... I'm off to bed to try for some sleep!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

That's shocking
I wasn't aware that the hospital had damaged your arm. Have you spoke to PALS about it?Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

I spoke to PALS yesterday but they can do nothing practical for me. I still have to wait my turn to see a specialist about the damage to my nerve and about my pain so how does that help? So may ring one of those solicitors and see if I am likely to win much.... and see if it is worth going down that route...
Because I'm still not sleeping properly and the weather is due to be so nice, I have now booked tomorrow off as well so not back in work now until May 3rd so hopefully can rest, relax and go back refreshed - hopefully with a proper sleep pattern back in placeAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I don't know if I've mentioned it but I redeemed £10 from woohoo this last week. Today I used the £10 of boots advantage points from buying the fridge towards some new makeup - for me and to use at DD's upcoming party! I love guilt-free shopping!
My avon stuff I arrived today too - it looks okay but I think the packaging lets it down... Very dull!
Had quite a nice day today. I got loads done. I worked a full day despite starting at 11 as I finished at 7. That will be harder to do tho once DD is back home as it would mean that she misses out on half of the evening time she normally spends with me before bed!
I will be picking up DD tomorrow at some point. I am planning to nip to Ikea while I'm over in that direction.... I checked my mobile phone talk plan with virgin and I think I need to try and up my minutes. I need to check for my login details as I believe I can change my plan every month if I want to.... I need to check it out.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi guys
Well I had a lovely walk around a national trust property again today before going to Ikea with DS. I've bought some things for a wardrobe system for him and had another look at the kitchen I wanted. They are doing £100 gift cards again for every £1000 you spend on a kitchen, 20% off installation and 3 for 2 on appliances which is a pretty good deal.
But we can't afford everything ie florida, car and kitchen so need to work out what we want/need most.... It's hard. OH has just really annoyed me by saying he looked on a website after we'd bought our holiday and found it cheaper!! What's the point of that! I just wanted to throttle him!! He also smirked and said that we could afford Florida and the kitchen  It was the smirk that annoyed me. He's probably right but I want to enjoy the dream a little longer!! I also want to look at creative ways to afford the Florida dream too to see if there are any options there that would make it more affordable.
He was trying to work out whether he was capable / had the energy to install the kitchen but personally I think it is a bad idea. It won't happen to the right quality, he will be completely wiped and a nightmare to live with and he doesn't have enough leave anyway... :eek:On the other hand he is capable of assembling the base units and drawers so if we just paid someone to help with the electrics and counter and the final installation that might be a lot cheaper that paying for someone to install everything....:money: Decisions, decisions!
I do really want a new kitchen - and part of me just wants to go for it but another part of me is saying stop - that's a lot of financial pressure and commitment... Is it worth it? Wouldn't we enjoy it more if we saved up for it first? Is it wise to commit to that before my op and with my arm problem too.I am worried though that they may stop doing red kitchens by the time I can afford one which I would be gutted about... And the offer is very good and is only on until around the 9 May. But its the same offer as January so chances are they would do it again in say August or something...
My MIL thinks my kitchen is fine, and I should focus on getting a new carpet for my lounge and a new suite... but those things don't bother me at all. I just said sit on the less used sofa next time you come and you'll be fine :rotfl:She's bought my DD loads of new clothes and sandals and things, plus a friend of hers has passed more stuff on for her :money:so at least I won't need to buy her anything clothes-wise. DS on the other hand does need stuff before we go on holiday....
I think we've spent so long doing without that we now really want to spend spend spend which of course is not the idea!!!:o I do see the Florida thing and the kitchen thing as one off spends with hopefully long term impact - florida as an experience of a lifetime and the kitchen as something I can enjoy every dayAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

 OH's can be so frustrating sometimes
Difficult decisions to make. If it were me I would probably go for the holiday TBH. Probably more for the impact on the children and their childhood memories. I'm sure my parents changed their kitchen a couple of times when I was younger but happy holidays will always be great memories for me. And the furthest we made it to was Wales!
I would also be inclined to save for the kitchen as it will give a greater sense of achievement and enjoyment. Could you save maybe X amount towards the kitchen each month so you would still have a savings pot for it when you come back from Florida?
Even £500 would be a great start to saving for a kitchen! Hope you work it outTotal (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Thanks CMD - I think we will postpone thoughts of the kitchen for now it is just too expensive:( - one of the most expensive that Ikea do which is typical!
It is very much a "want" or "dream" rather than a "need" but I'm still disappointed that I can't do it right now (and be financially responsible):money:. If I'm ever going to do it I want to do it properly, but I don't want to be majorly worrying about money - it would make all our recent debt repayment almost pointless. I want a really nice counter too - but stone is about £300 a square metre and acrylic is about £199 a square metre so not easily affordable!
:money:I need to try and stay on course. I think I will look though at what I could do in our current kitchen to improve it. :money:- Could I add another wall cabinet for instance - on the right hand side of my kitchen where it always looks to me like they skimped money wise and didn't put one in when they should have done?
- Or I could perhaps put some floating shelves there?
- Could I add any extra shelves across the sink area which just annoys me at the moment as dead space?
- Can I perhaps put some of the rails in now under the cupboards to make the worktop clearer and put in the magnetic knife rack now etc?
- Where I have my bins, could I add a base unit and ikea waste sorting area behind a cupboard door so it looks nicer?
- Or could I try and get a matching unit but with drawers as that is what I feel I lack the most and then move the bins around the corner?
- Could I move the bins to the utility cupboard instead of the kitchen and thereby make better use of the space?
- Ikea - don't do doors etc in the right sizes to fit all my cupboards but I could perhaps look whether anyone else does and perhaps see if I can keep my base units and upgrade the door fronts instead....
Work may be doing a car lease scheme from September so we may be able to sort out the car that way through a salary sacrifice scheme... :)That would be like a car leasing thing where the insurance and servicing etc are I think included as part of the price... Otherwise we will try and just get something that is really cheap perhaps around £2K....:money:
