Hi Saving, sorry to hear your life seems bit hard at the moment but it also sounds like you're managing to keep positive and coping really well. Well done on the weight loss and keep at it. You will have times when it levels off but don't get frustrated, and as you've seen, even if you don't lose weight in pounds,it's still coming off in inches which is so much more important.

Hi Tirl - yeah I need to focus on how much better I look and my clothes look. I got lots of compliments today which was good.

I also met with my manager and got a bit more help with my workload.

I've also had another injection today and have been rather tearful but now have a long weekend to look foward to (I am off Monday) and have bought some nice M&S tea to look forward to

    Hi guys

I've stuck pretty well to my diet today and done loads of walking so really hoping to have lost some weight tomorrow. I'd gained a pound when I weighed myself today which was disheartening!

Done my big shop for the week but it has cost far too much but I think that is a reflection of how much fresh food we are now eating. OH also wants to try doing the Atkins diet - so have spent more than normal on meat this week so he has a fighting chance of doing it... I think he is worried that if I dramatically lose weight and he doesn't it is going to be really obvious - at the moment we are a matched pair as in both overweight... He has succeeded on atkins before so theoretically its possible for him - but that time I did a lot of his cooking for him. I am not really doing that kind of diet this time so he will need to do more for himself. There are some meals obviously we can do similar - but we will have more potato and veg than him. I've also bought some sugar free jelly and cream as last time we did atkins they were a lifesaver! I also would welcome the laxative effect at the moment LOL! Poss TMI but never mind!

I bought myself a couple of little purple vest tops in Tesco - BZ - they were 2 for £6 and since I didn't like the other colour - I bought one in size 16 and one in 14 LOL. I bought myself some heeled flip flops in Asda and some pop socks and knee high tights things to wear if I am wearing skirts more... I also slipped in a new pair of shoes (£12.50 not sure if I am keeping them but TBH it would cost me about the same to reheal 2 pairs I already have) so I will see how comfortable they are in the morning and then decide....

In case you were wondering.... No we haven't come in to money - and yes I am overspending.... Heigh ho.... walks off whistling... We get paid at the end of next week tho so that will help.... I may have to miss one of my planned over payments to get us back on track but it is doable - as it was to MIL and she only wants it in a lump sum anyway...

Hi CMD - it was nice. Only problem - now I can't sleep. Went to bed about 12.30pm but got up about 2am as I still wasn't asleep:(. My stomach is rolling around which isn't helping!

I've decided to do some MSE stuff since I can't sleep. I've just applied for a new bank account which should give me £50 cash:beer: back plus £5 a month as a "reward". I still intend to keep my existing bank account but will transfer money in and out of that one to meet the criteria! When I get the money I will put it in the holiday fund I think to make up for the money I spent on the concert tickets!

I am also looking for some decent savings accounts so that when the pension refund money comes through and we clear our debts - we can then get the best deal moving forward... There are quite a few good deals but that have a condition like you can only make one payment in.

We have a credit card that only needs paying off in September so thinking of putting the money in a high interest savings account until then. Hoping that by June we will be Mortgage Free Wannabees:j rather than DFWs. Not intending to actually pay off the mortgage tho - just to save it in a separate account as actually - we can get at least 3% interest on our money whereas we are only paying 1.45% in interest on our mortgage currently.:j

If we get the pension refund in around May I am thinking

:TPay MIL the £4K we owe her
:TPut £4K into a savings account to cover the CC above
:TSpend around £2K on a little run around car for OH
:TPut about £1.5K towards a holiday - so that hopefully we can have a holiday abroad before I have my operation. Really could do with something positive to look forward to.

I am then hoping that the holiday money we've already saved this year could be put towards us going to Florida next year :jwhich has always been our dream for when we are debt free

I think the kitchen idea is going to be put on hold for a while. It isn't essential after all. I've also spent quite a bit of time today trying to work out how we will pay off our mortgage - its interest only currently and at £151K:eek: is quite substantial. I reckon if interest rates stay low - and savings rate stay higher than that there is an outside chance we could pay it off within 10 years which would be amazing. :jLike I said earlier - the plan is to keep the money in high interest accounts tho rather than actually paying it off unless the mortgage rate becomes higher than savings rates...

    Hi guys

Well had quite a good day today. Made it to church and was complimented on my weight loss. We had a quick dinner and then headed off to a national trust property - a deer park - where we had a good long walk round. We then had coffee and naughty cake before heading home. I was thrilled to bits at the speed I was able to walk around - DS and I left DD and OH in the distance while we went off ahead. That was exhilerating and one of the first positives since the transfusion. It also made me feel I probably would be safe to use the treadmill at the gym even tho I can't use much else - which encouraged me. It also made me feel I was fit enough to walk to work and back so I may do that again soon.

I've been reading and apparently walking outside benefits you far more than a gym trip anyway....

I bought Paul McKenna's I can make you happy book yesterday and have started to work my way through that...

    Feeling more positive already

Glad you had a lovely day SavingH

Your plan sounds great by the way. Is the pension money a definite? I hope so I would love to see you over at MFW. I hope to be there in 2013.

Hi CMD - its 99% certain. They've confirmed they've received OH's form back they just haven't liquidated his pension yet and sent it to us. So the only real question is will we get it next week? next month? or I think at the latest - May?

I've been reading "the richest man in babylon" again this week - and it is very much about debt repayment, living within your means - and making your money work for you - but all in story form... Hence the new plan of campaign about interest bearing accounts...

I am from April going to do my best to maximise my interest on my savings account - I have various savings pot at the mo - but most of them aren't accruing interest which is not much good. They are a budgeting tool rather than a revenue stream. I want them to be both so from April they will all need to work harder.:money:

I will open an ISA for me and get OH to do the same so we maximise our tax free money - that will be a good start and then try and open lots of other new interest earning savings accounts - preferably at 3% AER or better. I love the monthly interest paying ones the best:money: - I find them encouraging whereas annual you seem to wait forever and be less sure what you are going to get!

:jSo yes hopefully will be an MFW within a few months and be able to post on the debt free roll of honour!:j I think the fact that we even had a pension to get refunded is a sign that we weren't totally bad with money. Between us we are currently paying about 10.8% of our earnings into a pension - mine is a final salary and OH's contribution based and matched by his employer so we are still saving for the future there too
