Do you think that paying the gym membership in one lump sum is giving you more incentive to go? If you were paying it monthly you may be tempted to say 'its only xx so it doesn't matter' but it was a large amount, and something you can all do.
My friends husband once came out with the ' there's six stone of you I'm not legally married to' line. It was only the fact that she'd been overweight at forty and decided she didn't want to be fat and fifty that eventually gave her the kick she needed.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Hi Gill I think it probably does but generally when we have joined the gym in the past we have done it as a lump sum! We still found our efforts tailed off later. We turned 40 this year - and really want to be fit and slim by this time next year.
I am aware this is a "honeymoon" period at the gym where we are interested and motivated to go. I am fully aware that it will tail off and we will make room for other things in our lives too. At the moment I want to give our fitness regime a kickstart by going regularly. Also DD can do a few things in the gym but is desperate to swim - and we want her to learn. Similarly DS really wants to improve his fitness level so I have 2 kids nagging at me to keep going. I have made the decision to treat that as a positive!
Also some of my friends have moved away, and my main friend is pregnant and therefore not available as much (she already has 7 kids!!) so I have more evenings "spare". I was wasting them on free bingo, tv and mse before... now I am trying to use them more productively. OH has a spare ipod that he was given to use by work so am thinking of investing in some ear phones and then possibly joining audible via a cashback site and downloading some motivational books and such to help me with my business idea and my day to day job....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hmm- I may need to take a
Ear out of your book regarding how I use my time. Once I finish my tea I think I'll get off here and get some sewing done!2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -
hi jellie - hope the sewing went well
CMD - that hill sounds tough!
my tada list- got up (late) :)etc
- OH managed to fix bike okay :j
- OH went off with DS on bike to help sis out moving her MIL's stuff to a new flat :A It was a bit scary letting my DS go off on a motorbike on the motorway with OH but I don't want to be a cottonwool mother.... however DS nearly fell asleep :eek::eek:its such a comfortable ride! So he was left behind at sis's as OH didn't trust him to stay awake after the hard work of packing and unpacking vans etc! OH will go and collect him tomorrow in the car and may pop in at his mum's too..
- Meanwhile I fed DD and myself then we went into town
- Bought a pair of tracksuit bottoms (nicer than that :rotfl:) and a top for the gym for about £22 - and that was £3 off :money:but they are that dri fit stuff that is supposed to keep the sweat away from your body and help it evaporate
- Then DD and I had a drink in costa coffee - she has been nagging for ages... We were both really thirsty tho so both just had sprite £2.70 in total so pretty good:beer:
- Took DD swimming at the gym and found the lost "woggle" :j that we had only just spent £7.50 on and that she had already lost!!! The pool attendant had it safe for us :T
- Came home and decided to go back out for a chinese for me and DD which I ended up splitting between 3 of us - but for £6.90 actually it wasn't too bad a price! :money:
- DD wanted to watch Merlin - otherwise I was going to take her to the carvery which would have been £3 or so more so it worked out well
- Had a chilled evening just in front of TV and mse and free bingo :rotfl:
- Have of course packed the dishwasher and put our gym stuff in the washing machine....
- Everything else has been ignored :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:(I put that in just for DC - no ironing here love!:rotfl:)

It's nice that you and DD had a day to yourselves, sometimes the concentration is on paying things off.
£2.70 for Sprite:eek: that seems an awful lot to me, but was probably cheaper than ONE coffee.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

The mse visitor sounds exciting!
Am currently working my way through the memory girl thread and am enjoying your words of wisdom on there.2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -
hi gill and jellie
the £2.70 was for 2 sprites.... so yeah about the same price as one coffee!
hi jellie - glad you are enjoying my musings... I must admit I was naughty in church I was thinking about how I actually spend my time now - and then trying to do the perfect week exercise....
Came back and went to the gym for about an hour or so and came back to a cooked meal from OH....
Feel tired now.... could just have a nap!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
