hi BZ - he is now home. The rac guy said part should be low cost... The problem will be getting it - even if he orders it tonight off the web it is going to take a few days to arrive - so how will he get to work in the meantime? He's had a few lifts to work recently from a colleague but he can't keep asking her!!!
Hope you get your car fixed too - I know that kind of expense is the last thing you need!

I was actually wondering what you guys think of The Secret. I haven't read it but have read other similar books. Do you think people are basically praying when asking the universe for things?2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -
Thanks Jellie - the part appears cheap it is the faff of getting it and fitting it!
Had nice few hours with a friend
I don't agree with the new age stuff of asking the universe but I will adapt it a) to praying to God and b) to as per my life coaching being really specific about my goals and developed detailed plans to support me getting there... The bible says ask and you will receive, and that with faith as small as a grain of mustard seen (pin head size) that anything is possible.... So to me they have subverted Napolean Hill's fairly Christian bible based teachings on things like Think and Grow Rich and made it new agey almost in protest.... However I have not yet read the Secret but I have flicked through it in a book shop in the past....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Glad Mr SH is home now
I could really do with them actually knowing what the problem is tbh. I don't mind spending the money as much if I know my car will actually start reliably!Joining in putting hands together for you.

P.s. MIL's friend has since had angel wings tattooed on her, and signs her cards from "suchabody and all the Angels"...which doesn't quite sit well with me. To me it's elevating them to a higher position than they actually have, biblically speaking...
But now I'm in danger of going off into a very deep and meaningful here and boring the pants off the casual reader"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -

SH i'd be interested to hear what you think of the Secret. I think it is clearly controversial, I read it about three years ago and it's still a topic of conversation.
I agree with some of it, but Bigzippy's last paragraph hits the nail on the head.
I am sending positive thoughts re the bike...DC.

Bummer about the bike. Hope it gets fixed cheaply and soon.
I'm glad I got rid of my car and glad I could actually do it. Now that we've moved, I could walk to work again and it'd only be about 20mins I guess. But I like cycling, even if it's only for 5 or a bit minutes. Bf has a car but mostly cycles to work as well. I'm insured on it but atm, don't help with any of the costs (it was actually cheaper for him to put me on the insurance than not).

Thanks for your thoughts on that BZ and SH. It seems we are in agreement. I definitely think outlook on life is important. Many of the ideas in these kind of books often seem based on Christian principles in some ways. It seems to me that the people who are using them successfully often have a positive outlook on life, look for the things to be grateful for and because they are often generous to others with time and help often find others unexpectedly help them. I'm not sure I'm making any sense as I'm thinking 'out loud'
Hope you are feeling a bit better today SH!2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -

Unfortunately I need a car to get to work but I'd love not to!
We are trying to walk where possible though. Having shops and restaurants so close to our new house has made a big difference to our car use!2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0
