Hi Bev glad that you are back! My bank downloads into excel so it is easy to keep track of.

Car should get fixed tomorrow - can't wait - I am absolutely wiped! Walking every day is not for me although I hope long term that I would find it easier. Especially as I have worked 30 minutes extra a night for the last 3 nights to make up for Monday!

Hi Tirl - the walk is 1.2 miles each way but I am seriously unfit. I was proud of myself last night tho as I walked home even though it was raining. OH thought I would get a taxi! Bless!

Hi Bevan - glad it turned out to be a good tip - hope you can get it working properly for you.

Well car is all fixed now - such a relief! The mechanic was fab and really quick. There is a tiny bit of paint damage on the bumper but should mostly be resolved with T-cut. One of my neighbour's has given me the number of a body shop person who could respray my bumper for £50 - I smiled politely while thinking why bother! It is a tiny black mark less than the size of my little finger nail! I don't think we would bother unless we were selling the car - in which case I think it would be better to do then!!

Some sort of bad news/good news. Student loans have finally caught up with OH and without any warning or correspondence of any kind have deducted £100 from this month's pay. In a way it is a relief as we were concerned about it as we know he owes 2 years worth but are not sure how much interest has been charged in the meantime! Last time he enquired about it they had no record of him so he didn't pursue it! Now they have evidently "found" him - so I have asked him to contact them to find out how much he owes. We would have preferred to wait until we are debt free to start paying but in all honesty with the mortgage drop we've had this month the timing is pretty good. It will however slow down other debt repayment by £100 a month which is a bit of a blow but fine in the grand scheme of things.

You could always try to fit some walking to work in your week. Better start slow.

Great that you got the car fixed. I wouldn't worry about the paint damage either, it's not exactly affecting the driving is it?
Good luck with sorting out the student loan.

Be looking into it properly tomorrow SH, DH is working so no boys this weekend and plenty of time on my own to figure it out :D Glad the car was easily fixed, agree about the paintwork, it can be expensive so no point doing it unless you know someone who can do it on the cheap or as you mentioned, you wanted to sell it :)

I'm so glad I didn't go to Uni to get a loan, I'd be well bu88ered by now lol I hope you can find an easy solution to that one

sounds like we are all agree - waste of time sorting out paintwork!

student loan - I think he got 2 years worth but will feel happier when I know the final figure

rang insurance to try and get no claims discount protected and they said I can't do it part year. So I have put in a complaint - as the website isn't clear on that....

    Some good news today....

You know when you ring up to get a credit card balance - well when I did that 2 months ago I could have sworn they said I owed £3700ish on a card.... but when last month's statement came it was only £2700 and something... I thought they must have issued the statement before my latest spending but no it says my new balance is £2753.80 so I had over-estimated how much I owe by about a £1K which is fab news:j:j

So that is perfect as it will offset the impact of the student loan £100 a month coming off OH's wages and means we can reduce our other payments by £100 if we need to without it affecting our CC DFD!:j

Ironically - it was the bill supposedly being £1K more than I expected that triggered me stopping use of the cards altogether and trying to budget better :o So things really do work together for good :rotfl:We did decide to postpone the £350 PADI course until next year so whether that is part of it I don't know....

Need to go and drop off OH's motorbike today to be fixed - I am already bracing myself for that one! But at least we have both just been paid so that is good!
