Well I've just crashed my car into OH's motorbike! Sounds very dramatic... Reality is I have been reversing -not seen his bike and the bumber bar on the side of his bike has torn my bumper off! His bumper has a slight crack and his motorbike has red scrape marks! I think I am going to have to claim on the insurance which is a blow as some bits have ripped so it isn't a matter of just screwing it back on!
This is going to make work life and dropping the kids off complicated. I can't remember whether I have a courtesy car or not with this insurance or what my excess is... I need to dig out the details. Pretty sure I have protected no claims tho which should help...
Feel in shock and upset and angry and completely stupid!! OH is trying to be nice. I have warned him lots of times that I am crap at reversing and his motorbike is usually in my blind spot! He just laughs and ignores me - perhaps he wil believe me in future!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

looked at my policy
only have £150 voluntary excess but don't seem to have protected my noclaims discount which could prove a horrendous mistake. Don't have a courtesy car option eitherAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks CMD - we are not injured or anything just  with myself that it happened - and now that I hadn't checked the policy wording well enough to see that my NcD isn't protected! Can't believe it although it was cheap!clearmydebts wrote: »Hope your okay SH
Have looked on ebay and we are going to try and get the parts on ebay if we can rather than necessarily claim! So annoyed with myself tho!:(
OH has suggested we go for a carvery tea to cheer ourselves up:) - which we will but it will be about a mile walk each way! I could be getting very fit next week too walking to work. The biggest immediate problem is we will have to ask MIL to collect the kids tomorrow and the house couldn't look in a worse state.... well possibly it could but you get the idea.... So much work to tidy up...:eek::eek:Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Glad to hear no-one is injured. Try not to beat yourself up about it. It could happen to anyone.
 to cleaning. It is a constant battle with me to try and keep the place tidy. The ironic thing is that I think I have become tidier since having Max but he creates an awful mess!!!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

The carvery was very nice - probably cost around £20. Walk probably did us all good and luckily it didn't rain.
Thanks CMD for the sympathy. :A I think I am embarassed :oas much as anything. And annoyed about incurring unnecessary costclearmydebts wrote: »Glad to hear no-one is injured. Try not to beat yourself up about it. It could happen to anyone.

but you're right these things happen. OH says he's more bothered by the hassle than the cost and the practicalities around the kids and work etc. We're going away for the weekend in 2 weeks time so really need it sorted for then!
Cleaning and tidying is a nightmare we all have too much stuff. The cleaner didn't come this week either which I was pleased about from an mse perspective but am less pleased about now!
- I completely understand how messy things can get with babies - they just have so much stuff play gyms, car seats, sometimes a separate indoor rocker, toys, nappy stuff - I am not surprised you struggle to keep on top of all that!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Still upset! Done about 4 loads of washing and packed dishwasher. Not done much actual tidying tho!
Just have to hope manage to transfer to Eon and that saves us as much as I think it will! To help offset this! Will make me exercise more while we are waiting for it to be fixed. I haven't ordered anything off ebay yet... want to make sure we order everything we need to and that if we order it someone will agree to help us fit it. Want to know how much a body spray will cost too for the bumper...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I know how cross you are with yourself. I had a similar accident last year, car park bump, and it just made me cross, thought I was clever bumping my excess up to £300, only to hit a volvo and pay over £200 to have hers fixed - mine was fine !
We go over and over it in our minds don't we. Still job done, pleased you OH is a laid back about it.
Hope you are a happier bunny this morning.DC.

Thanks Lucielle. I am going to a Marriott hotel near Leeds using clubcard tokensHi SH, sorry to hear about your bump. Are you going anywhere nice?

- it is about 8 miles outside of Leeds tho so pretty impossible without a car...:( I suppose if we had to we would just hire a car for the weekend altho it will be a popular weekend as it is a bank holiday. Should be good tho
Well on the tidying front
OH has tidied the hallway and kitchen :jand left me the dreaded lounge... :eek:am going to get the kids roped in to help with that.... so an improving picture there... loads still to do tho... Still not finished the washing either and the kids are going away again tonight. Still not told MIL she will need to collect them as OH forgot to ring her yesterday:oAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
