Hope oh's scan goes well and that you get more into the swing/less overwhelmed at work SH. :)

Hopefully the car will be a pickmeup and you'll be able to look forward to the new suite arriving as a way to curb the spending ;) don't forget that the weather/darker days and nights will have an affect on you too... And if your diet is not great atm, your moods could be affected from that, unknowingly, too...?

Hope the OHU continues to be helpful, and your boss supportive. :)

Thanks BZ - don't worry I've gone thro the budget planner again and worked out where we can trim things down. We are ditching our predicted £85 a month gym spend as we can't have that the suite, car, and cleaner.... Our biggest problem is food spend and spends at pound shops and home and bargain..... you know the little things that add up... I still want to save so we can clear the CC when its due to finish around next September which is still doable if we put controls in place.

The controls are not working right now tho on one level - but having said that we have had lots of school and car related expenses recently - at a time of lower income - so it may not be our "regular" budget that's bad. We still have savings including a holiday pot.... And I've already started my xmas pressies shop

I think online food shopping is helping... My biggest problem right now is lack of energy. So I've bought lots of lovely fresh vegetables to be used in soup (which I adore) but have no energy to make it - trying to get OH to do stuff remains a struggle. He did cook tea tonight - and what I asked for - but reluctantly.... Haven't got the energy to ask him to do the stuff for soup as well.

I agree our diet is not ideal at the moment... but for me bits of it are fine interspersed with junk = weird mix.

But worked a full day today as was on a course - and also had to drive as well - so was back on 2 diclofenic and paracetamol on top - whereas at one point this week I had a 36 hour gap between tablets - today it was 6!! And I took paracetamol as well. The second diclofenic did the trick tho.

Tomorrow is a busy day as we are driving to pick up the new car (hopefully OH will drive there) and then I need to drive back and still get to work on time to lead a meeting/series of meetings.... I got the lounge pretty much spotless last night and am pretty upset with how much mess has crept back into the room from other people just in the last few hours post school - I think when you have kids and work you feel like you never stop

My work team are really nice and very supportive... which does help

HI guys - well DS and I nipped to the shops....

I know, I know.... and saddo spendaholic that I am it did make me feel better. In my defence blah blah blah blah [insert usual excuses here]

I did get a nice top £14 and 2 x 3/4 length leggings that I thought were £6 each but when I got to the till they were buy one get one free even tho they weren't marked up like that! I then went to the other bit of Mr As and bought bananas, wheatabix, 11p noodles and other essentials and 3 x £3 DVDs and got another 96p off the DVDs again unexpectedly so another result! I didn't spend a lot for me and I was able to get cashback so can now let DS pay the deposit on his school trip... Looks like tomorrow is popcorn and DVD night so kids will be happy!

OH has just told me need to be up super early to get the car.... but not too concerned as I can just come back and have a shower and get properly dressed ready for work... As long as I fit in some porridge or banana and a coffee before we set off I think I'll be okay. Since not sleeping well, it is relatively easy to get up at the moment just don't feel rested at all!

On a positive note - I bought a couple of books from the charity shop at the weekend - each with 3 stories in. One was rubbish but the second one I've enjoyed 2 of the stories and am just starting the third.

Btw, regarding the diclofenac, now you're not taking them for chronic pain, but for more acute bouts of pain, you'll probably get more/more speedy relief from ibuprofen now. :)

    HTH

    Happy new car day! :D

Thanks BZ - but I remained in pain even after the diclofenic and paracetamol until I'd taken the second one so struggle to believe ibuprofen would have been enough. I've also been told not to take ibuprofen the same day as diclofenic so reluctant to take the risk

Hi guys - well I've got the car and I am really pleased with it so far. Really responsive and the mpg seems really good.

All good MSE people out there will be pleased to know I check the credit agreement very VERY thoroughly. I can overpay but must give them notice first but that can be phone call email or whatever. Also interest is calulated daily so PAD would count. The cost of credit over the 3 years was horrendous so I think we will either move it to a 0% card or try and massively overpay as quickly as possible. But for speed and ease I think it was still easier to get the loan initially.... Apparently overpayments can be used to either reduce the monthly amount or reduce the loan term.... so my goal would be to reduce the loan term....

I was also very tempted to go and meet a friend for coffee or have lunch out to celebrate.... I was trying to resist temptation by looking at making a smoothie or omelette instead when I remembered I had leftovers from last night so had lovely chicken fajhitas instead - yummy! I do need to go into work soon too

OH said I definitely slept last night as I was snoring loudly..... Thanks for that!! I certainly was having very vivid dreams when I woke up. I was aware of portions of the night like 5.30am when I was willing myself back to sleep but there we go...

Hi guys - well I've worked out we could overpay by £500 a month and clear the car loan by end of next year and pay about £280 interest or do a balance transfer for 20 months and pay about £200ish interest. Not sure we'd get the CC for enough so may lean to just making overpayments.... Makes me wonder whether we should use the remaining savings to make a dent now.... Playing about with figures on whatsthecost....

Hi CMD - I had a rough start to the week but have been doing better in terms of mentally coping towards the end - but used more painkillers. Took 2 diclofenic (and some paracetamol) today but I think that was because of the position I was physically in as much as anything else. My workshop went really well and all the participants seemed to get a lot out of it which made me feel good.

I got complimented on my new top which is always nice too.

I love my new car so far... let OH drive me to McDs tonight once DD was in bed and we had a chat for an hour or so which was nice. I told DS to tidy his room so he could hoover it and I came back to find a clean shirt complete with hanger in the wash.... I'll leave you to imagine my response!!!

My friend was back from her holidays today but I was so busy didn't get chance to talk to her so hoping she's back in tomorrow and if she is we might nip out together for lunch and I can show her my car....

OH and I have had a good discussion about money - he is planning to take more of an active interest and we've agreed to try and move the car loan to a better deal - we have about 8 days to notify the car loan company if we want to do that and then 30 days from that notification to actually move the money. OH got an offer thro just this last week for 9 months but I'm going to find out whether the 20month barclaycard deal would actually let us pay off a loan with the balance transfer. If not will ask virgin or halifax for the money as they will pay direct to bank account so not an issue... And at 3% rather than 8.4% on balance it has to be done.... I think it will then also make us far more focussed on snowballing the debt and clearing it off. We seem to have lacked oomph recently

OH's letter about his medical tests has come thro and I will need a day off for that... apparently its an all day affair and he may not be able to drive after etc. Luckily DD will be unaware as she will be at her nan's. We've told DS about the tests - but explained it as precautionary.... Need to get OH to ring up about his extra blood test results tomorrow too

Well just rung barclaycard they won't let you transfer from a loan:( to the CC so would need to go down the Halifax or Virgin option.... We get 0% offers thro all the time so I am sure we can sort it out. Halifax will let you transfer into your own bank account and I think Virgin do too

I've been sleeping better:j as the week has gone on so getting my brain tired must be one of the factors - I don't know how the diclofenic is influencing things as the two nights with the best sleep I took more of it... I've got up earlier than is usual for me as I am trying to train my body into a better pattern.... Things do seem to be improving so hopefully that's working (and will carry on working)

OH and DD overslept today:eek:. DS came in and woke OH up as he was setting off for school but didn't bother to do anything arlier from what I can tell so OH didn't have the best start. OH wanted to take my new car to work today but I said no - I didn't have the energy to cope with the car stalling all the way to and from work - and I keep thinking the stalling is going to cause a crash!

We have a busy weekend. OH has a friend over in the morning to help fix something on his motorbike. :money: We are then hoping to go and choose our new flooring which is a bit of a trek away from here :) and then get back on time to go to a friends for an evening meal! oh and OH still needs to prepare sunday school :rotfl:and we have a long standing invite to go and support someone on the sunday evening about an hour away.....

Hmmmm I think we may need to review some of that activity as I think its too much...
