Congrats on the new car. Much better peace of mind having something reliable with the winter just about on us.
Enjoy it...and well done to DD on her stars, hopes she enjoys the new pencil case.:A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust :A0 -
Thanks KJ Peace of mind worth a lot. :A
Still want to try and walk when I can - and look to save car parking costs where possible. Can save up to £3 a day if I can find somewhere free to park (or walk)
When I go back into work this next week I need to try and submit a back dated expense claim - reckon they owe me at least £100..... :money: Before I got ill I was claiming about £100 a month expenses - so there is scope to claim some costs back from work.... The mpg should be better too. I am really excited!:j:j:jAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Feeling exhausted today - for some reason I only found out I was helping in youth church late last night - so did - but just felt really stressed and tired. Got home and made OH make dinner to my instructions.... Still have the washing to do tho. OH and DS have gone out, taking 5 bags of clothes for a little girl we know... mostly shifted from my study so result for me as well as them!
I am feeling really frustrated tho as I had bought some colour run things you put in the wash and the cleaner tidied up my utility and they have just disappeared so there are some things I daren't wash! So feeling pretty mad and frustrated about that!!
I feel like we've done too much this weekend again... but part of the problem I think it the poor sleep quality.... I am in bed long enough - perhaps too long - but just feel sleeping very lightly!
I did our online banking last night - we're doing pretty much okay considering I have £1K trapped in the wrong account (messed up online banking details for H... fax so not been able to move it back). Taking driving license tomorrow so I can shift it back to our main bank account! Unless I manage to sort it tonight
Need OH to move the car deposit money from his ISA to our main bank account.... (We've already paid some of it) I can't seem to get him to have any sense of urgency tho - I don't think for that reason I would give him sole access again....!!
I realised that I'd probably left it a bit late to pay my cashback card so put a bit extra thro yesterday.... Just can't seem to get quite coordinated properly
I think given that we are 9 days away from payday and we put the tax money in to prop our account up last month when I was in half pay (but never did put the other £1K in we talked about) we're doing pretty well. We still have over £2K in savings even after we've paid the £2K deposit on the car. We should at some point still get about £600 insurance back too... So things are looking healthier again....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well despite starting my washing late in the day I did manage to get 3 loads done.... but unfortunately had to use tumble dryer for most of it due to a) leaving it too late and b) the weather not being great. Need to go and move some stuff across to the tumble dryer again when I've finished posting...
DD has helped tonight with folding some of last weeks washing - She actually offered to help. I was proud of her for that - I think the whole stars exercise is working - she was proudly telling nanny about it earlier too. I have also been trying to give her a regular job of laying the table too.
I ended up making everyone tea - altho luckily for 3 of us it was leftovers from yesterday. OH unpacked and packed the dishwasher which was positive. DD managed to get the lid off a spag bol tin and put it in a microwaveable container and do her own - so pleased with her for that too.
I forgot to ring the car insurer which was a pain - really need to get on to that tomorrow. I also need to try and rearrange the garage diagnostic appointment on the meriva as that now clashes with a meeting I have to go to
I have been invited round to a (free) girl's night at a friends house tomorrow so may go along to that - it would at least get me out the house and may improve my general mood.
Not looking forward to working 5 hours tomorrow - but I think it is a fear and anxiety based thing rather than a logical one - as if it is a struggle I just need to talk to my boss/OHU/GP and take things more gradually or work partly from home or get people at home to help me more. I especially need help with getting the clean washing sorted and put away. The front room desperately needs a hoover and clean up too but just had no energy / too busy a weekend.
I'm wondering on the tiredness / sleeping thing whether I would be better setting a limit on my time in bed - and just trying to improve the quality of my sleep. At the moment I just guess what the time is it and try and stay in bed as long as possible - when sometimes perhaps I should have got up an hour or two earlier and I might feel more rested.
Some good news.... MIL has spoken to relative who would be happy to do our floor. We just need to visit his shop with some rough measurements and pick out a design - and he will give us a rough quote before coming out for a proper measure up. MIL reckons it will only take him a day which I think is amazing! Time will tell tho! I think the biggest challenge will be getting bookcases emptied and finding storage space for 2 settees, and 5 or 6 bookcases, OH's desk, chair, etc while he lays the flooring.... Put it this way - It won't all fit in the kitchen or the garage!!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Menopause is not fun - not for me anyway. I had hot flushes all night - wave after wave of them. I kept turning the fan on and off - probably driving OH insane! I feel like I am going back to work completely unrefreshed from the weekend
I've only just eaten breakfast, still need to shower and get ready and am supposed to work 5 hours today! Not only that but I am/was planning a short lunch break part way thro to help me cope. Thing is I know later in the week I've got something to do which is more standard hours - OHU said I could count some of the extra time from one day towards another but hard to do in practice. I think I will try tho
Oh and I've put on 10lbs in the last few weeks as well which is really disheartening but not a complete shock considering my eating is out of control!!
Let's hope I feel more positive laterAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well ended up going on a very long lunch break - met a friend by chance - and talked and cried for an hour!:( I then went back into work and felt strangely a bit better - needed to get it out of my system I guess.
I did move my £1K over between banks which was good and OH has moved the £2K from his ISA into our main account which was fab news too:T
Came home and have agreed car pick up of thursday. Have sorted car insurance as a multi-quote thing - and got I think a good deal. It's costing £622 for the 2 cars for the year (OH has no real no claims discount) and the cheapest quote I found was about £700 for the both of us so about £78:money: less than expected. They are also giving me a refund of £136 for what was left of this year so that's nice too - so less than £500 new money if you know what I mean... They wanted to charge me 14.9% apr for paying monthly so I said no to that. Would have paid on a CC but that was 1.5% so ended up paying it on the debit card (or should I say overdraft?)... TBF now there's £3K extra in there we're out of overdraft until we pay the rest of the deposit Thurs and then I get paid next week as does OH - so looking good from that perspective!:T
DS hasn't made it to air cadets yet again - as his friend wasn't going and I just didn't have the energy to force the issue or take him. I got OH to cook left over sausages and chops and asked DS to peel spuds so that was nice so just been fed. I'm not going to make it to my friend's tonight which is a shame but I think it would have been pushing it - I'm too exhausted...
I've also done another Mr A guarantee and got another £1.79:money:, as well as an overcharge of £3.36 back and a refund of £1.35:money: on gone off mushrooms. :money: I chased up the refund from a couple of weeks ago and the free delivery as it hadn't arrived... They say they've sorted it nowAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I think spending all this money on big items is getting to me somewhat too - I've spent all night obsessing on numbers and checking my budget planner and forecasting spreadsheets!
I really need to take my insurance form into my doctors with the envelope and hope they send it off for me okay. If I get the £600ish :cool:for that - it will compensate for the money I've just paid out on car insurance! There is another insurance I might be able to claim on - need to check into that too:money:
On paper we should be fine even with the new costs for car and sofas but my forecast (ignoring any remaining savings) is showing we won't be this next month or two  (but given we just paid £622 out in one go that's not a total surprise) - but that's also not taking account of the insurance payout or the extra money I should get in this months wage as not counting the money until its in my hand.
We also got the bank statement thro so should be able to do the wilko refund - just need OH to help me take the stuff back to the shop with the statement and then hopefully they will give us a full refund £89.
DS has come home tonight and asked to go on a £120 trip with school in about 6 months time.... EEEK that's wasn't in my budget either. It is now :money: I think we've come to the conclusion we definitely can't do the gym thing this year....:( but not fit enough yet anyway.
I've still left lots of money in the budget (but not the savings pot) for holidays - but in reality I keep raiding the pot! I think I also need to work out how many xmas pressies I've already got so I'm not fretting over needing more money than reality. I am really trying hard not to fritter spend but it is hard!

Hi guys
Well the car had its diagnostic test - but it had a couple of error codes but not the kind of problems I have. So they've reset the codes and said to try and take it out on longer journeys and give it better quality fuel and see if that helps and then take it back in a week and they'll look at it again. They didn't charge me anything which was amazing!
I spoke to my boss today and told her I was struggling - and she was very supportive - and will refer me back to OHU and see if my phased return needs to stay longer at each level. In the meantime kind of do what I can do and work from home if I need to. I did in general feel better today but was a bit teary with my boss which I could have done without. The irony is my performance in my job is still good even tho I'm not working normal hours or feeling great!!? Lots of people told me how good I looked which shows my new dress and make up were worth it - but is sometimes counter productive as people then can't see you need help...

Well watching total wipeout with a yummy chinese - has had me engaging in some much needed laughter with the rest of the family!!
Want to try and get the lounge tidy tonight and get it hoovered as it looks awful!!
Have to be in work really early (for me) tomorrow so need to try and get to bed at a decent time
OH is really tired too - but he is has his date for his hospital scan thro now - so I need to book some time off for that... He needs to keep a food diary too as we are due to discuss his diet with the nurse at the practice next week. I think that will be amusing. Apparently his lunch today was soup and 2 packs of crisps that he bought from work... What can I say? Breakfast was a frys orange cream, 2 slices of ham, a chunk of cheese, a gluten free bread....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
