Hi guys - well today feels weird as DS claims to have D (not V) again - 2 Mondays on the run? I let him stay off tho as I don't want to send him to school if he is genuinely ill but OH had to be in work early today which meant I had to get up and take her with less than about 10 mins notice (DS was supposed to take her)!

Given that I am still not sleeping - took 4 tablets last night - intended to take a 5th but forgot - to get up early and have no catch up sleep this am was very frustrating! I had to come home early from work to get DD from school. I need to make an hour up now. It was nice to come home as I'd had a 2 hour meeting and my brain was blotto! I'd also talked to someone for half an hour before that... So of my 3 hours in 2.5 hours was basically meetings.... Brain drain city!!

I'm going to give myself a break until 4pm and then try and catch up my missing hour... DD was pleased to see me so that's another day she gets a star for the to and from school journey.

I did manage to take my M&S stuff back for a £88.50 refund which was positive. I also took in my watch to be repaired - bad news is it could take 3 or 4 weeks to get back.

I still need to take other stuff back and contact my bank to see if they have a record of my wilkos transaction

Hi guys well I took an extra tablet last night and that seemed to do the trick. Got off to sleep ok but was still able to get up ok. Have to take one of the children to an appointment later so need to be in work earlier today. I want to try and make a smoothie to take with me for lunch as otherwise I'll have nothing to eat.

I have had porridge with agave nectar - very nice! I cut down my chocolate intake yesterday in case it was caffeine from that keeping me awake and put some walnuts and flying saucers next to my bed instead as you do!

I did manage to more than make the time up yesterday so was pleased with that. When I increase my hours again next week I'm planning a lunch break part way thro which hopefully will ease the brain shut down feeling....

Oh well I'd better move it!!

    Hi CMD and Milann

thanks for posting. Yes work is going okay :)- pain is controllable only took painkiller at teatime.

DD is going to need new foot inserts as her muscles under her feet are still too tight!! We will get them in a couple of weeks time. They think that this could be a long term problem until her feet stop growing. They also said any kind of exercise would help (altho some might be too painful). DD was struggling to hear me today - and I do have an outstanding hearing referral I could send her for - so will probably follow that up. I also want to organise an eye test for her - I have a friend who is an optician and he will work round her suggestability to try and get the most accurate test result.;) Bless her she could find everything happens at once! I also need to chase up a dentist appointment for me and the kids. She has holes in her teeth:eek: bless her!! I have a dental phobia - hence the reluctance!

Going to docs with OH tomorrow where we should get some test results:eek:, get her to refer OH for the extra scan and try and get her to get him a quicker blood retest as the date they gave him was ridiculous!

I did take £4 of stuff back to The Works fritter spend I shouldn't have made. I also took the £21 dress back and got a refund. I did however spend £15 on a sale top in M&S. I was going to take the wilkos stuff back but had the wrong receipt with me!! so will need to try that again another day!

    Hi guys

Well went with OH to see GP this morning. His cholesterol is 6ish (should be 5 or less), he does possibly have a wheat intolerance (they are doing ane extra test for that which we should get by the end of next week) and there were a couple of other odd things in his blood test that they are retesting about - but nothing that she seemed majorly worried about. It sounds like his scan could be up to a 2 month wait - which again suggests they are not that worried about it. His extra blood test will be next week - and he will see the practice nurse for suggestions on how he can improve his diet in a couple of weeks (I'm planning to go with him LOL as he won't remember anything!!). He's been advised to keep a food diary so he can track where his problem areas are...

I was amused that his iron level if anything is high - which shows we eat a good iron rich diet - and the only reason for my anaemia was the fibroids... She said 80% of your cholesterol score is inherited and only about 20% relates to what you eat which I found interesting....

I ended up working 4.5 hours today as I was on the phone at finish time. My brain was blotto after 3 hours as I'd had a 2 hour meeting.

I also spoke to an OHU nurse in passing today as she was were around and she suggested trying to buy or get prescribed Tryptophan and Melatonin so I may try and book a doctor's appointment and see if they can sort it for me. She also felt that aspects of my role should be subject to clinical supervision - so that when people overshare or tell me some of their deep dark secrets I have somewhere constructive to go with them and offload them that is still confidential. I think that is a good idea.

so just a few things going on at the moment

I didn't walk today - but I did park for free so that was nearly £3 saved and I ate dinner before I went so that was MSE!

    Today

Had porridge with agave nectar as low GI sweetener (less than 50p)
Omelette with mixed peppers onions and mushrooms with a small amount of grated cheese (less than £1)
Chicken fajitas with mixed peppers onions and mushrooms and salsa sauce (approx £2 per head)
4 free short bread biscuits at work!!

So all meals low cost today so pleased with that.... Wondering about going for a walk but its raining so don't know.

Cleaner came today - and I've cleaned up after tea and made DD hoover up (the crumbs she spilled over the front room before I got home) and clean up the sugar she'd spilled on the newly cleaned floor!

Oh and we've been looking into getting a new or newer car.... probably a Sk0da Fab!a 3stat3

Work have launched a scheme which I've been looking into for a car at an inclusive price of £250ish per month but a friend at OH's work says he can get us an even better deal so investigating that now... May see if we can go for a test drive at the weekend. Apparently for £1K deposit we could have a 1 year old car at £150 a month, and from sk0da you get servicing free anyway for the first few years. Presumably we would still need to find insurance on top and tyres tho... but the warranty and servicing would pretty much cover everything else. Need to weigh up how the two forms of buying would compare... I know there will be lots of MSEers sucking their breath saying don't go there.... but I need a car for work, OH needs a car in the winter (as the motorbike in the winter is sometimes unusable or just unsafe in icy/snowy conditions) and we both need something that is reliable. If we control our spendiing better then it is affordable for us we just need to be sufficiently motivated to tighten the reins again - which we have been doing the last month or so...

I'm taking my current car for a diagnostic test next Tuesday - but if its cheap to fix - we will fix that a keep it but as our second car not our first. Big decisions.....

Confession time.... we have ordered a new suite for our front room and it should come in December. That's interest free credit over 4 years at about £60 a month - however it was the same price for cash so to me it made sense to take the 0%. Part of it is red and part of it is white with a red trim - I think it will look lovely - really hope so!

Hi guys - well DS walked with me and we went into town. I took a £6 top back to Mr As that didn't fit DD (and didn't get a different one for her - will see if she remembers!!) We then went to P!zz& H^t and used the mystery voucher they gave out in the summer. I asked for decaff coffee which initially they couldn't find so I complained saying I'd complained about this multiples of times and they never had it in which was against the trade descriptions act. They eventually found some decaff - and I had a desert and DS had a free desert. At the end of the meal - they said it was on the house as an apology for all the times they'd not had the decaff in! Result! Saved me at least £5 which will contribute to the £10 a day challenge!

Hi guys - well I've filled in most of my insurance form in for my recent time off. So now need to book an appointment with the doctor to get then to fill in their bit - and then ask someone at work to fill in the other bit. So hopefully £575 will be winging its way back to me soon.

I also have another insurance I can claim on that would give me about £24 I think so will try and give them a call later today.

As you can see I can't sleep - got up at 6.40am but decided that might be better than laying there willing myself to go back to sleep and getting frustrated if it doesn't happen! I think I will definitely go to the doctor and ask re melatonin and tryptophan. OHU were saying yesterday that if I didn't get more/regular sleep that I had a higher risk of breast cancer which was news to me. They were also saying some people just need less sleep and as long as I was getting at least 4 hours I may find I'm okay. They did say 6-7.5 was healthiest and any more was potentially detrimental to health which does fit with what I've read on the net. Since I'm awake - hopefully I will be able to get an appointment today.
