Hi Lu, Gill, CMD and Tirl

Back home safely (since Saturda pm). All went well despite fears. Was given a lovely side room - couldn't have had better treatment if paid to go private so good. Pain under reasonable control....

BZ has been helping loads - she did a load of batch cooking with DS today wearing both him an her out while OH worked from home. My stitches came out today and apparently all is well so far... Nurse asked me for copy of discharge letter but wasnt give one - and I'd forgotten to ask hopsital for a sick note - so had to ring doctors for that... May also need to ring them tomorrow re painkillers and other medication as will run out in the next few days...

I am reasonably mobile - but after going up and down stairs for the third time today, I slept for 3 hours.... Other than that read a bit of a magazine, read a bit online about operation recovery LOL my sister keeps telling me to step away from google - and google is not my friend BUT..... Chatted to sis for a bit who completely wore herself out bless her but seems to be doing better than I have seen her in years which is good!

Oh and very MSE got £86 from quidco today - £40 was DS's from when he bought the phone the rest was cashback from our holiday... always nice anyway! Been collecting some instore quidco money too at SportsDirect and Debenhams and Halfords so if you shop there... join quidco and register your main cards with them and you can even get money back for your instore spend!

thanks CMD - yes thinks went better than expected.... not hard really considering how terrified I was!! Hopefully properly on the mend now.

Sis came all day to help with the cooking.... all OH had to do was take the plastic lid off and put the cottage pie in the oven.... guess what!!? He managed the oven part....

He's gone to pick up DS from Air Cadets now and will then see if he can get lid off and rescue the food underneath!

Glad everything went OK for you SH, as you say, given your expectations that wasn't really difficult. Was thinking of you and hoping you were home and well.

    Hope OH rescued the meal.

Agree with sis - step away from Google! Those who have a good experience tend not to write about it, so you only ever hear the horror stories.

Don't overdo it with the moving around, its easy to get too tired easily.

    Hi tirl and gill

Yes feeling reasonable.... Not letting the painkillers run out but avoiding codeine based drugs... Didn't get to sleep until about 5am as only had tea at around 11pm and it was sat too heavily on tummy....... Woke up for painkillers around 8 and then slept thro until 11.30am.

A friend is bringing tea round tonight... chicken casserole apparently and 5 friends have been in touch today already which is all positive and making me feel loved and cared for. I've suggested to OH that he takes tomorrow off as it is his birthday and our anniversary.... and we celebrate but that he goes into work thurs and Fri this week and leaves DS looking after me. Some friends are planning to pop over anyway. Next week DS has asked for Mon and Wed to go out with friends so OH will probably work from home those days... takes some pressure off him and work.

I am more mobile than I thought... and twitching this laptop on and off my pillow covered lap hasn't caused any problems so far....

The hospital should have given me a discharge letter but didn't. My GP practice and the district nurse hadn't had it yet either so I am back to having to beg for prescription drugs.... never a good feeling!! I waited around all Saturday to be let out... I wasn't in the frame of mind to quibble over a sick note or discharge letter as long as they gave me medicine to go home with!!
