Telecom Plus amend their literature when a complaint is upheld. Distributors are instructed not to use contested versions of mailings etc.

I would say that British Gas man would have a pretty good idea of who was the cheapest supplier if he is talking to consumers day after day.

This is not intended as a slur against our host Martin, merely an obsevation, but at the top of this page it says:-
"UK's only money saving expert" Think about it!

The difference is Uks moneysaving expert has not had any complaints up held and ripped people off and don't charge.

No I didn't but I am still happy to recommend them.
I only felt the need to go to the ASA when I had a number of problems, so it is not something I normally need to do in the course of my dealings with most companies (in fact it's a first).

I visit this site regularly and I am confident that if Talk Talk were giving people problems then I would have heard about it and would then have a reason for checking it out.

My personal recommendation is just that - it is not a guarantee or advice and the reponsibility for other peoples decisions is theirs and theirs alone.
I am just saying that I like them and I'm happy with them. It's nothing more than that.

If you feel that Talk Talk are a bad company or have things that you think people should know about them then you should bring it to people's attention so that they can be warned.
They can then make their decision as to whether to sign up - which I would remind you is THEIR decision (it doesn't matter whether you agree with their logic).

Also if you know of a better provider regarding cost then you should bring it to everyone's attention.

That is what this site is all about - sharing knowledge either good or bad.

A "pretty good idea" is not the same as saying that you "know" something to be true.
I have no idea about this guys qualifications.
He could have started the job yesterday for all I know.

As you are very well aware there is no "cheapest supplier" so I don't know why you continue with that phrase - it all depends on where you live and your consumption.

Can you explain how you reached that conclusion?
Are you saying that most companies have an ASA judgement against them?

I think one of the main questions that we are asking is why hasn't the website been changed AFTER the ASA judgements?

Lots of companies make mistakes but if they are a "decent" company then they should apologise and change their advertising.
This does happen sometimes.

For exmaple Sloggi were advertising their G strings with 3 virtually naked women close to temples and mosques.
This was probably accidental or a contractor not following instructions, but they made a public apology, removed the advertising and no doubt make better checks before putting up their adverts now.

Making a mistake is forgivable in my opinion.
Doing nothing about it when made aware of it is a different matter.

Every household in Britain can now benefit from the nation's cheapest domestic gas. Not cheaper gas as some of our competitors claim but the CHEAPEST gas.

Telecom Plus are still making the above claim for their Gas and Electricity and as this is the time of the year when most people will contemplate changing  be on your guard as this claim is totally false and should you come across adverts like this please report to your local Tradingstandards. Together we can get rid of companies that make false and misleading claims
