Telecom Plus Poorer and poorer

The fact remains that the ASA upheld not 1, not 2, not 3 but FOUR complaints against T+ for misleading advertising.
The fact remains that the T+ website still contains the same misleading advertising - and only because it doesn't fall under the ASA. Reputable companies do not behave like that.
So in my opinion Head Office are not only dishonest but blatently taking the !!!!!!. Come back when the website is compliant with the ASA rulings, and then we can move on.0 -
Mr Tickle,
So giving customers a discount (up to 100%) does not constitute the cheapest energy.
Come back when you can find a cheaper supplier.

"up to 100%" means it could be anything starting with 0%.
Staywarm are a cheaper supplier in some circumstances to name just one.
Why are you continuing to support these lies which have been proven 4 times to be untrue by the ASA?
I don't think it does your credibility angy good whatsoever to carry on making these claims when we all know they aren't true.
The fact that you are carrying on making them when they are proven false, just shows the companies and yourselves to be dishonest.
If you want to call me negative then go ahead.
Yes - I am totally negative about the continuing support for these false claims.0 -

Lewis Gerolemou Etc wrote in reply to the serious question regarding the honesty of his Head Office:Well Smartasss it looks like the man from British Gas would disagree with the ASA
And went on to give us a verbatim extract from the T+ weekly newsletter.
This reported a man from BG who had signed up for 4 services (including telephony) from T+, and was Lewis' triumphant reply to the question of honesty at his company.
Apart from its irrelevance to the original question, the worry with this story regards the sanity of the BG man - why would anyone now sign up for the comparatively expensive T+ phone service when they can sign up for Talk Talk and get free calls every day off peak and all weekend for a year, and free peak calls (1p connection fee) via 18866? (You have to pay T+ £1/month minimum for their phone service, which would pay for 100 daytime calls with 18866).
You would truly help the BG man, Lewis, if you got in touch with him and suggested he join us here!0 -
I had missed the fact that this guy had signed for the phone service.
If he KNOWS that Tplus are the cheapest then I think that certainly qualifies his level of knowledge particularly in the telecoms sector0 -
Are ther any TP reps out there who would like to buy some sand ;D or a spare shovel as it seems you can't dig that hole quick enoughRememember. Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

Lisyloo I made the claim that Telecom Plus will give you up to 100% discount, that claim is true. The minumum discount is about 9% not 0%. The term Customer Gathering Associate does rather imply that you have to gather customers to qualify for the discount, I would hardly call signing up a few friends work. This is work, trying to keep up with you lot!
It does your credibility no good when you critisize a scheme that you discussed with others on this site the possibility of forming a consortium to qualify for the discounts. quote author=Smartassslink=board=Utility;num=1074307432;start=81#97 date=01/23/04 at 23:11:53]Lateral thought........
We all come to this place to look for money saving ideas(apart from those who seem to come to sell their wares!), so why not club together to get the £25, then we could all register via one 'stakeholder' who would collect all the 2 - 4% discounts then pay it back to the rest of the co-operative!! (When we get so big it comes to driving the Porche, we could draw lots).[/quote
Smartasss, we are discussing energy here not telephony, why don't you practice what you preach (Unfair bashing of door to door sales reps, your post of 26th Aug) and stick to the thread.

Independent Distributor for Telecom Plus0 -
The minumum discount is about 9% not 0%.
I disagree.
I get 0% discount on my bills.I would hardly call signing up a few friends work.
I certainly would so we will have to disagree again.
I have recent experience of signing people up to talk talk and to answer the questions, keep records of the emails, phone numbers, money and chase it up does require some effort to do it properly.
(BTW - it's not really relevant but my profits are going to charity).
I agree that the discount is a good idea - no disagreement there.
What I am disagreeeing with you about is comparing Tplus prices with discounts for work done included with other companies tarrifs at full price.we are discussing energy here not telephony
It is relevant because it demonstrates that your "british gas man" has no credibility whatsoever.
I am not disputing your report, but some unknown person who knocks at the door and displays very poor money saving skills (by his telephony choice) is not someone that any of us hold in any regard.
We do however have some regard for the ASA who are a credible organisation with provable credentials.0 -
Lewis Gerolemou Etc posted here about a BG man who was so impressed with T+ that he signed up for 4 services with them (including telephony), then, when the sanity of the BG man was questioned, he wrote:Smartasss, we are discussing energy here not telephony, why don't you practice what you preach ........... and stick to the thread.
Lewis, I'm now getting worried about you - it was you that introduced us to the BG man who signed up for the 4 services - I merely pointed out the irrelevance of this anecdote to the point the thread was discussing which was Mark E's claim that the T+ H.O. was "not dishonest".
So far this point (regarding the continued cavalier attitude of T+ towards the ASA's adjudication that their advertising is misleading) remains unanswered.
Just to remind you, Lewis, this is what the ASA said in June about T+ continuing to claim to be the cheapest supplier of gas + electricity:The Authority noted it had previously upheld complaints about the claims "UK's cheapest domestic electricity" and "UK's cheapest domestic gas" in their advertising and was concerned that the advertisers had repeated those claims
No reputable company would disregard such a reprimand.
Maybe the T+ newsletter should carry an article that tells their staff how to explain away this damning adjudication to all their friends/relations that have been spun the same misleading claims!
***************************************
I am even more concerned to see that you took seriously my suggestion back in January that we start our own T+ agency to cut out the 'middleman', so that we could all drive the T+ Porche, and go on the reps cruise - in future any such posts will have to carry a special warning for your benefit along the lines of "Lewis - this is a Wind Up".0
