hansi bantered:why does SmartAss have to put the wind up people about this. Most companies that do this sort of credit do it by crediting the account
Most companies wouldn't mislead their customers by telling them they'll get "cashback" when they will only get cashback if they request it!
hansi, how is my helpful point about having to request the money a 'wind up' - I note you weren't aware of this requirement, as you had to post asking about it?
This company makes a habit of misleading their customers as well as the general public - see all the ASA adjudications against them for misleading advertising for starters!
******************************
In fact the post that hansi refers to was in reply to the highly suspicious post from the totally satisfied (6 services user!) Highprofile. (Dated 27/8/04).
I see that after registering on here to place his one and only post, we never heard from Highprofile again!0 -
So what your saying Smartass is Highprofile is keeping a lowprofile because his profile no longer fits ;DRememember. Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

If you woke up breathing, congratulations! You get another chance. And finally, be really nice to your family and friends; you never know

I think some of us have a slightly different understanding of what "cashback" actually means.
I get "cashback" from my credit cards by them crediting it to my account.
The don't send notes and coins through the post !
I don't consider that they are misleading me in any way.
If you are taking it literally then you would have to accuse every credit card company of the same thing (as none of the actually give you notes and coins).
I think you are being very literal and if you are being that literal then a cheque doesn't qualify as cash, so there is in fact no way you can get "cashback".
I honestly don't think this would be upheld by the ASA.
It is very common for companies (including a large number of credit card companies) to mean "renumeration" when they say "cashback" rather than literally meaning the folding stuff.0 -
On balance I would say this thread is now - balanced.
Thank you all,

P.S. Smartasss try and take a little more time to digest posts that you respond to, there is a difference between putting the wind (puff puff) up someone and a wind up (what I'm doing now).0 -
Hi LewisSmartasss try and take a little more time to digest posts that you respond to
Thanks for the alimentary advice, but I am not some sort of badly trained dog eating up the post as soon as it drops on the mat.

Been on Staywarm for 1 year and they throw me off because they can't calculate the gas meter reading into Kilowatt Hours properly and tell me I've used 50% more gas than British Gas calculate it at, and no one at customer service appears to be able to do anything. Then they automatically transfer you to Powergen Standard Tariff without asking first. To me that is no better than the door to door energy salesmen that all the fuss was about. And Telecom Plus is cheaper than they were going to ask me to pay for the next year anyway. Just waiting for Martins update after the price rises and I'll be rid of Staywarm/Powergen and their abysmal customer service.0

I would tell them to stuff it. Especially if you obviously know your meter readings. Change, complain to Ofgem and John Prescott ::)The moving finger, having writ, moved on.0
