Telecom Plus Poorer and poorer
Comments

Hello Lisyloo,
If the "problems" with Telecom Plus are of such little consequence to you why do you always make such an issue of them. Users of this site are put off considering Telecom Plus because of posts like yours, why don't you give a more balanced view i.e. always say that you find them the cheapest.
This site is about money saving and you know very well that Telecom Plus can offer energy users the best deal, posts like yours deny them that opportunity. Its OK for you to make maximum savings but not for others - thats what I find strange.

Just because the issues are not important to me does not mean they aren't important to others.
Some of the problems could be hugely consequencial to others.
For example someone on a tigher budget than me might have big problems with not getting notice about a large bill. This could cause them to go overdrawn and incurr charges.
Secondly I might have made a different decision if I knew then what I know now.
With hindsight I might not have joined however that does not necessarily mean that it is logical for me to leave given that I already been through the pain barrier with it i.e. the transition period.
The whole point about these boards is so that people can share information.
The consequences of that information will be different to each individual and it is up to the readers to judge the personal consequences for them in their situation.
For exmaple the limited phone hours aren't an issue for me as I work in a office with no restrictions on my phone usuage. However a farm worker might find it more difficult.Users of this site are put off considering Telecom Plus because of posts like yours
If my information is accurate then I consider that a posistive contribution.
I have never intentionally given false information.
You (and others) try to use these board to gain custom and there is nothing wrong with that providing you declare your interest.
I don't see anything wrong with people criticising Telecom Plus if they are genuine and are not being slanderous etc.
If you want to use these boards to promote the positives then you have to accept people openly discussing the negatives.why don't you give a more balanced view i.e. always say that you find them the cheapest.
well on one thread I was described as somthing like "one of the most balanced posters" on these thread.
I have contributed to a thread about "pros and cons" and contributed to both sides.
I also contributed to a thread about "tplus getting better".
Yes I find TPlus cheaper and I don't have a problem saying so.
That's why I am with them.
I don't feel a need to continually repeat it though because I feel the reps do enough of that. This site is about money saving and you know very well that Telecom Plus can offer energy users the best deal, posts like yours deny them that opportunity
I totally disagree.
I am not denying anybody anything.
I am providing genuine opinions and information.
People can decide for themsleves whether they want to join and whether the issues I (and others) raise are consequential to them or not.
I am not denying anybody anything.
I am providing views and information which they can choose to use as they wish.
Do you want censorship against anyone that doesn't agree with you ??Its OK for you to make maximum savings but not for others - thats what I find strange.
I am making the savings with my eyes wide open.
All I am doing is making other aware of the problems.
If they want to do what I did i.e. have the problems and make the savings, then that is entirely their decision.
I am not saying it's not OK for others.
Other can do what they want.
I am only providing information and views.
With hindsight I think I probably would not have signed up, but I didn't have a crystal ball at the time.
However that is not the same as going to the trouble of leaving which currently I am not prepared to do.
That decision is mine and mine only and I will re-assess as I feel fit.
I don't think it's inconsistent.
I will try and did out the post where I was called a balanced poster and thanked for my views.
Here it is
http://forum.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=Referrers;action=display;num=1081102985;start=20#20
You personally thanked me for my "balanced views" so I don't think you can say that I am always negative.
I don't have any reason to be biased.
I am just countering information where I don't believe it presents a balanced view and providing people information about problems.
If people get put off because of genuine provable information (like ASA judgements which they can check for themseleves) then that is a posistive contribution that these boards make to people lives in my view.0 -

What a load of rubbish. I have sat by patiently reading these comments. Since when do Telecom Plus offer the best deal. People are not as stupid as you take them for as all they have to do is read the previous problems TPlus have bestowed the gullible who are persuaded by persons like your self trying to make more commision. >:(
A reminder about this company folks.
They take money from your Credit Cards with out your permission and then inform you that its in their terms and conditions after the fact.
Also check your VAT as you should be paying 5% and not 17.5% TPlus have been known to charge private consumers.
I have gone back to Southern Electricity for both utilities and they have been brilliant.Rememember. Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.
Never pass up an opportunity to go to the bathroom.
If you woke up breathing, congratulations! You get another chance. And finally, be really nice to your family and friends; you never know
when, You might need them to empty your bedpan.0 -

I have to say that I find the way that the TPlus bills are presented as extremely confusing.
I have a degree in mathematics so I am not adverse or incapable of solving mathematical problems however they cause me some effort to work out.
If anyone wants me to explain what I mean in more detail then I will do so (once I have a bill in front of me).
Thanks for the tip COS - I will check my bills again.
I am pointing this out because it might be a problem for anyone who is not a highly qualified mathematician and makes it harder to spot mistakes (which unfortunately TPlus do make from time to time).
Just for balance - I would like to mention that Tplus are the cheapest provider for me, so of course you should make a balanced decision based on your circumstances and the value to your personally of savings vs the hassle0 -
Hi Highprofile
Good job you've joined this site!
If you have put all your utilities to T+ by way of your friend, you should be in for some moneysaving!
(Even their reps have admitted their telephony is expensive!)
Have a look throughout the site and you will find independent advice (your friend can't be independent) on cheaper deals for utilities and mobiles etc.
I see you are expecting £50 on the anniversary of signing up - you did well to get all 6 services connected simultaneously - there are reports of great delays in getting the gas and electricity transferred, yet you appear to have done all 6 transfers on the same day! Remember that they will only send you the money if you ask for it!
And it is subject to a clawback if you drop any services before 15 months are up!
As you will have seen from all the comments posted throughout this Board, you have been very lucky to have had a smooth relationship!
where does it say that you have to claim the £50?0 -
The terms and conditions say this3. You will receive up to £50 “cashback” every year based on the number of different types of service we are providing to you, as shown below. Any
“cashback” to which you are entitled will be credited to your monthly bill or sent to you by cheque (if requested) on each anniversary of the date
you joined. “Cashback” is only receivable in respect of each complete year of membership, and does not accrue pro-rata for any shorter periods.
So technically Smartass is right - if you want the money sent to you (as opposed to credited to your account) then you have to ask for it.
I don't believe that you have to claim it if you are happy for it to be credited to your account.0 -

I'm glad you're not getting problems now.
I am still receiving late paper bills but e-bills are coming in plenty of time so it isn't an issue for me personally.
I am a bit puzzled by it because so far the post has been blamed but I have no other postal issues in my area - in fact the postal service is very good for all other items.0 -

so why does SmartAss have to put the wind up people about this. Most companies that do this sort of credit do it by crediting the account and that is what most people would want, so why wind ups like this Smartass!!0 -
Anyway, enough of this banter. I'm off to the first South Wales meet of the Martin Lewis Appreciation Society at a little hostelry in Cwmbran, and I'll have a drink and a toast to absent friends ! ;D ;D ;D ;D0
