Hi all, nothing urgent here, just looking for a wee bit of advice. Got flights booked, no accom (its a timeshare that we got as a prezzie for a week), due to fly out to tenerife from prestwick on friday 23rd returning friday 30th.

Now people here saying that flights likely to off till 23rd and thats just now, could be worse in a few days.

Question is if I ask for a refund now and it turns out that the returning flight ie home on the 30th actually goes, will i get my money back on the returning flight or just on the flight out. Also can I ask for a refund on a flight that hasnt been cancelled yet? Or do I have to wait until Ryanair officially cancel it?

Thanx in advance

When Ryanair cancel the flight you will be able to get a refund on both journeys. Via the link in your cancelling email, so don't waste money phoning ryanair.

Ryanair now extends flight cancellation till Wed at 13:00, They have also added your rights and they state:

If your flight is cancelled, you are entitled to the rights set out below except when:
you are informed of the cancellation at least two weeks before the scheduled time of departure; or
you are informed of the cancellation between two weeks and seven days before the scheduled time of departure and are offered re-routing, allowing you to depart no more than two hours before the scheduled time of departure and to reach your final destination less than four hours after the scheduled time of arrival; or
you are informed of the cancellation less than seven days before the scheduled time of departure and are offered re-routing, allowing you to depart no more than one hour before the scheduled time of departure and to reach your final destination less than two hours after the scheduled time of arrival; or
(in respect of any ‘Right to Compensation’) we can prove that the cancellation is caused by extraordinary circumstances which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken by Ryanair, including but not limited to political instability, safety and security reasons, weather disruption, labour disputes or failure or delay of air traffic control facilities.

Is this going to affect all abroad who think hotels will be paid or is this just another editted version of what should stand in eu rules?

My flight never made it out from prestwick on Thurs night, I have now cancelled flights but lost all hotel monies (£379) paid to low cost holidays , small loss to some others abroad if some airlines do get away with handing this version of rules to customers at the airport.

Hi all, i have family stuck in Malaga, were meant to fly home yesterday.

They booked flights with Monarch who are impossible to get hold of. We actaully got a friend to drive to the airport here (only live 10 mins away thank goodness) the Monarch desk have said basically tough they will ahve to wait until at least next weekend before they are flown home with them.

My sis's hubby is being threatened with the sack if he isnt back at work on Wednesday (been there less than 12 months so no real rights as such if they do sack him) Anyway if they managed to get home via train ie Malaga - Madrid, then Madrid - Paris then eurostar will monarch pay the cost of the transport? or will the insurance? Or does anyone know of a better route they can take? They cant hire a car as their drivers licence is at home and no one has keys to get in the house to even fax/scan them whatever.

I have spoken to monach again who have confirmed what friend was told at airport monarch said they can either re-schedule the flight or get a refund and make their own way home, and they are homeless after tonight as well and cant find anywhere to stay! Not to mention the medication for their child runs out on Tuesday so they need to be home by Wed at latest

My Mum and sister are stranded in Malaga at the moment, i've had no trouble phoning Monarch and rescheduling on the number 08719405040. They're not sorting anything out accomodation wise but they've answered the phone quickly and rescheduled flights with no problems. Ive currently rebooked them on a flight next Monday as they can stay in their villa another week but they offered me a flight tomorrow (i can't see it running). I would suspect that much of the booked up accomodation in malaga is available as people won't be able to get there. The post office insurance policy is only paying out £20 every 12 hours up to £300 and despite my Mum having Catastrophe cover this apparantly isn't a catastrophe so they won't pay out on that!
Can you not get the same medication in Spain?

You can only call them unfortunately. However I called at 8.30am on Friday morning and got through in seven minutes on the 0871 number so worth a try tomorrow before the queues start.

I dont know if it means anything but I'm in Los Angeles with my son and this morning we were able to check in online for our Monday afternoon flight to Paris with Air france
We change in Paris for Manchester but online check in for that flight isn't open yet
Maybe we'll get stuck in Paris instead which would be better than LA. I have somewhere we can stay there. LA hotels aren't cheap, neither are their hostels
One consolation though. Found a nice and cheap family restaurant nearby and the portions are huge

Lord Adonis outside downing street after meeting with foreign office & PM and has confirmed as cityboy and others have confirmed that food & accomodation WILL be paid for from all EU carriers. Thank goodness for some clarification from the government. (on Sky News)

Hi

We are a party of four who booked a deal with On the Beach in January to Sharm El Sheikh, due to fly out yesterday. When the flight was cancelled on Friday night by Jet 2 we contacted On the Beach who said they may be able to re-arrange our accomodation if we could rebook a flight and ring them.
This changed Saturday morning when a rather inept service advisor tried to get us to cancel. We have since e-mailed On the Beach and received a reply below

Due to your proximity to travel it is not possible for us to amend your booking. The suppliers through who your booking is made can now only action a cancellation and try to secure some kind of reduction in the cancellation fees from the hotels and or transfer companies. We in turn can only treat your booking as a cancellation. It is our objective where possible to try to secure you a refund of some kind on your accommodation and or transfer booking. Please note due to the nature of the situation normal booking conditions and cancellation charges may apply.

Are they able to do this?
Can we claim from Jet 2 for costs incurred as they cancelled the flight?
Insurers are saying not an adverse weather matter therefore not covered for losses
Have we any other options?

Lots of questions but don't like to be spanked by anyone let alone holiday companies

Forgot to say, we didn't appear at the Airport, but we did check in online with Jet2.com about two weeks ago. I also on Saturday contacted the hotel direct in Egypt and they told me they had no bookings in any ones name????. I am told hotels work on voucher systems where you turn up and you get a room reserved for the Travel Agency company, hence why they may have no booking in our name.

Thanks

Richard
• so how long would you stay on the phone to the airline? Been on hold almost 2 hours to Royal Air Maroc, and still waiting!!!!!
