Can I claim off my travel insurance policy for the national express bus to the airport and overnight accomodation I was due to take today, however flight tomorrow has now been cancelled?

Risinfromthegutter, whether you would be liable for additional costs will depend on whether there is a cancellation or alteration charge by Sun 4U direct. If they are allowed to impose a charge and choose to do so you should contact your travel insurance company to see if your policy covers this.

There is a charge I believe, which they claim I can claim back from my insurance company. But a different advisor claimed I would be charged in full for an extra week and would have to claim the cost of the original week from my insurance company. However, I do not think, reading my policy, that my insurance company will pay for this. Also I do not have the cash to pay out again in full. I'm thinking that I am going to lose out on the £300+ ive spent on accomodation/transfers can someone else reassure me otherwise please!

Would it be worth contacting the hotel direct?
  • Hi all, i have family stuck in Malaga, were meant to fly home yesterday.

They booked flights with Monarch who are impossible to get hold of. We actaully got a friend to drive to the airport here (only live 10 mins away thank goodness) the Monarch desk have said basically tough they will ahve to wait until at least next weekend before they are flown home with them.

My sis's hubby is being threatened with the sack if he isnt back at work on Wednesday (been there less than 12 months so no real rights as such if they do sack him) Anyway if they managed to get home via train ie Malaga - Madrid, then Madrid - Paris then eurostar will monarch pay the cost of the transport? or will the insurance? Or does anyone know of a better route they can take? They cant hire a car as their drivers licence is at home and no one has keys to get in the house to even fax/scan them whatever.

I have spoken to monach again who have confirmed what friend was told at airport monarch said they can either re-schedule the flight or get a refund and make their own way home, and they are homeless after tonight as well and cant find anywhere to stay! Not to mention the medication for their child runs out on Tuesday so they need to be home by Wed at latest

We have a holiday (tour group) booked in Portugal starting next saturday. I booked the flight direct via Easyjet (using Barclaycard) and planned to meet up with the tour when we arrived. However the organisers have now cancelled the tour because one of them is stuck in Singapore and another in Hongkong and they will not be able to get back in time to run the holiday.

If Easyjet runs the flight (IF), it is not much use to me without the associated holiday. What is my situation in making a claim for the cost of the flight, which was booked direct with Easyjet using my Barclaycard, if the associated local holiday tour is cancelled but my flight is not?

(I could take the flight anyway and chance a long weekend, but with the holiday cancelled so is my hotel booking and for all I know the hotel is full of stranded airline passengers - it is in Porto which of course has an international airport).

You seem to be covered under the package tour regs so should be offered a complete refund.
Many Thanks For Responding to my post Cityboy, unfortunately HolidayGems dont seem to agree, however hoping to speak to someone from ATOL tomorrow. Cheers Again

we were due to travel back from our package holiday from benidorm with thomas cook yesterday but have now been told that they are sending us back by coach and if we refuse then ee are on our own. We have a 7 month old baby and a 9 year old girl and find that a 30+ hour journey stuck on a coach with our baby on our knee to be the ultimate nightmare.
What are our rights and opions if any?
Will food and drink be provided as we have not been told anything.
    Thank you in advance

Are you kidding me? You have been told you can get on a coach, and 30 hours later you will definitely be home, with a, comparably, minor inconvenience of having your baby on your knee, and you think THAT is the ultimate nightmare? Try being stuck, indefinitely, 3500 miles away from home with ABSOLUTELY NO WAY of getting back, throwing money at hotels and food for two people daily, with no guarantee that you're going to get your money back from your insurer, no clean clothes, no help!

    Yeah, keep mulling it over.

I can't stop thinking about boats. Boats boats boats. Why won't they just put boats on to get people back to the UK from America?

I managed to speak to expedia customer services today after waiting for 90 minutes to get through.

I had a flight & hotel booked in New York for tomorrow flying with American Airlines. She told me that as soon as the flight is cancelled by AA I will entitled to a full refund but I cannot apply for this until the airline cancel the flight - which they haven't done yet. As I booked both flights & hotel with expedia she confirmed that I will be refunded for both.

I am posting this in case anyone else is in the same position.

Thanks for posting. I'm in a similar situation and really struggling to speak to an Expedia Rep.

Its good to know they will refund both :)

How long do you think it will take to build the ships? Do you think there are ships sitting around the USA doing nothing?
