I booked a hotel/flight package deal with expedia...we are supposed to leave at 6am tomorrow - clearly not going to happen. Who do I talk to about a refund? Expedia or the Airline??

Expedia I reckon. I recently was dealing with the airline and expedia.com. In the end it was the airline that ok'ed the refund and expedia that made the refund. Since you paid expedia they have to make the refund. But I think the airline issues a credit back to expedia to fund your refund.

I'd be interested to read how you get on with expedia.co.uk (which I assume is who you booked with). All the different countries have different expedia's. Expedia.com customer service is total c--p. Look them up on google and you'll find many blogs about how bad they are. I wonder is Expedia.co.uk the same? All I can say is that it is a good job I use a discount phone service. One call to expedia USA was 70 minutes! Most were near an hour and there were a lot of calls.

Has anyone managed to get throught to Expedia? What number did you use if you did? I have been trying on 020 7019 2000 but then i get a bit confused on which option to use on the menu - ive booked flights and hotels through expedia and they are on the same itinary - does that count as a package?

I was on hold for an hour and half last night and been on hold for 20minutes so far today! I know they are going to be having a huge number of calls but i dont want to be on hold to the wrong department!

my situation exactly - but i'm waiting for them to contact me as my flight is not for another 20 hours or so (i know it won't be taking off)

i want to know if expedia will refund our package (hotel and flight) as I will be too pregnant in a couple weeks and won't be able to fly therefore cannot even reschedule :(

i hope you get through. if you hear anything please repost in here. you're the first person i've come across that is in the same boat as me and i wish you all the best.

My Mum is stranded in Gran Canaria. She was supposed to be coming home after today after 2 weeks there. The next available flight is next Sunday to a different return airport. It would have been a week Wednesday to come back to the departure airport.

My Mum is a teacher, she called her Headteacher who was quite annoyed to hear she won't be in school tomorrow & even suggested her travel insurance to pay for the supply teacher who will have to cover her class! My Mum is now quite stressed about that as the insurance state they won't cover anything, as it's an 'act of God'.

Sounds like an understanding employer! Your mother will not be liable for the costs of the supply teacher. However, she may not be paid for the period she is absent. That would depend on her contract of employment, and if there is a clause in the contract, whether the employer decides to enforce that clause.

I managed to speak to expedia customer services today after waiting for 90 minutes to get through.

I had a flight & hotel booked in New York for tomorrow flying with American Airlines. She told me that as soon as the flight is cancelled by AA I will entitled to a full refund but I cannot apply for this until the airline cancel the flight - which they haven't done yet. As I booked both flights & hotel with expedia she confirmed that I will be refunded for both.

I am posting this in case anyone else is in the same position.

I was due to travel last Friday with BA from Naples to London - I am still in Naples and BA are doing a great big NOTHING for passengers. There is not even any official BA staff available and all check in will say is that BA is not liable as it is a natural disaster! It is infuriating paying a hotel bill myself whilst surrounded by Easyjet passengers who are being very well catered for in the same hotel!!!! I thought BA stood for customer care - not now. Easyjet all the way
Why have you not contacted BA?

In order to clarify, is it not the case that you have travel arrangements via bookableholidays and travel insurance via Virgin?

The weather forecast is set for this type of direction until next weekend, and the volcano could go on for months or even years like it did last time. So the only way is over land by rail or boat.
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring

thank you this is very useful :-)
so does this mean you get a refund on the whole package deal, not just the flight? I was worried they would only offer a flight refund. If a full refund is available this is great news.
