he is going to look at ferries tomorrow, he is out there with work, should have come home last thursday, and go back tomorrow, hence he didnt come home, he would have gone back tomorrow and got an earlier flight back when the hospital appoinment comes through. All crap, but cant be helped, thats the main thing, its no ones fault and i am certain they are people in much much worse situcations.

Sorry another volcano question, hoping you knowledgeable people can help:

Due to fly out from Cardiff to Sharm on Friday 23rd April, holiday is booked through 2bookaholiday.com - Im confused as AFAIK we have booked a package deal so if the flight was cancelled would we be entitled to the whole cost of the holiday back? On looking at the travel information, our flights are booked with Thomas cook and hotel and transfers separate. So now Im not sure whether this is in fact a package holiday or not? I know it's not major as people are stranded but we saved for two years for this holiday and I would be devastated to lose all of the money.

Can anyone direct me to a site that CLEARLY states the passengers rights under the EC regulations. Some freinds are stuck in Europe and airline (easyjet) refusing to pay for food and acomodation. They have re-booked them for a flight in 7 days time but did also offer a refund which they don't want they just want to get home asap. What can they do? Should easyjet being paying for them to stay or is that at their cost? The booked flight and accom separately.

Are they charged separately as well? It sounds like you might not have a package. However, 2bookaholiday's terms and conditions look to be in your favour:

"When a significant alteration is due to for example war, treat of war, riot, civil strife, industrial dispute, terrorist activity, natural or nuclear disaster, fire or adverse weather conditions or other circumstances amounting to force majeure i.e. outside of our control we cannot offer you compensation. We will of course however make a full and prompt refund of all monies paid if you choose to cancel your booking rather than accept the alternative offered."

    and

"For the purpose of this paragraph, an alteration is significant if it involves a change of more than 12 hours which results in a change of departure date."

Looks pretty good to me in terms of getting a refund.

Anything over £25/day or local equivalent would certainly be considered excessive for food but I would keep it as cheap as possible, as you will want to present yourself in the best possible light in case of any dispute.

It sounds like you are in a position to supermarket shop for main meals in a way that people staying in hotel rooms are not, so obviously £25/day would be considered grossly excessive in your case. I would get supermarket receipts and consume cheap/mid-range fairly standard brands or supermarket own brands, just as Mr Average would do!

    Thanks for your reply Pelican

Is £25 a day for all 3, or each?
I'm feeding 2 hungry men, by the way.:D

I am a bargain addict, and hate parting with cash unless I have to, so I always go for the best prices. They don't do end of day reductions or coupons here like they do at home, so that isn't an option. Food is very expensive here, it's our biggest expense when on holiday here.

eg approx prices for 1 days dinner for 3 peeps as follows
A pack of 4 chicken breasts is $10 us
    Potatoes $3 US a pound
    Frozen peas $6 US
    carrots $2 US a pound
    a dessert/icecream $7 US

That's about £20 just for 1 dinner, homecooked, without drinks. A takeaway for dinner for 3 would be about $50 US, without drinks (no alcohol!)
As for buying brands, a pack of Anchor butter is $8 US approx, but the local variety is only $4, so that's what I normally buy. Named loaves (eg Hovis) of bread are $9 US, local is $2.50 US, so I buy local. Oscar Meyer bacon is $7.50 US, so I buy local for $2.50 US.

Do you really think £25, or approx $37.50 US a day is excessive bearing in mind how expensive everything is here?

Has anyone tried rebooking a flight with Easyjet? Their system is awful, it doesn't change the return date so it leaves me with a flight coming home just after I will get there. Also it's saying a flight on Friday is sold out but it'll sell me tickets on their main site!!

We only paid one amount to 2bookaholiday but when they sent us the information the flights were Thomas cook, hotel was laterooms and transfers were hotels4u which is why I was confused.

Obviously Im still hoping we can go but I feel slightly more reassured now after seeing those T&Cs. Thanks!!

The BBC ran a story about this on Friday. Go here:

Easyjet won't be alone in seeking to duck the EU's "duty of care" stipulation.
