Our venue was booked 9 months before the wedding, and we organised nothing else for 5 months. Guest lists were sorted out with 3 months to go, and the seating plans etc the weekend before the wedding. Meant there was no time for wider discussion and people just sat where we told them to.
Maybe you need a few weeks/months off from talking wedding 24/7 and then come back to it resolved to keep a bit more to yourself.
im pretty much twiddling my thumbs now until after xmas as we have bought pretty much everything :rotfl:0 -

Also having my 2 stepdaughters who will be 11 and 9, but in a real dilemma with their dresses! They are both very very slim, and are too grown up for the dresses Ive picked out for the little 2, but not grown up enough for the junior bridesmaids dresses Ive seen!
Any advice anyone?
What about having the flowergirl dresses and then for the other bridesmaids and junior bridesmaids having dresses made in the same fabric- means you can have them in different styles to suit height/age/weight differences but they still all tie in together.
I've not looked into it myself but from what I've read on here, it's not as expensive as you'd imagine. It's something to look into anyway.0 -

I stupidly just assumed you could get a catholic priest to marry you anywhere, as Id been to weddings where they had a religious ceremony before! The minister we called kept getting our names totally wrong, Katie instead of Tracy and Stephen instead of David, could you imagine that on the day! Im wondering if it would just be easier to have a registrar marry us :-(
Im also stressing over bridesmaids dresses! My maid of honour is 5ft 4/5" a size 10 and doesnt like wearing heels, and my other adult bridesmaid is 6ft, size 18 and loves heels! So trying to find off the peg dresses that will fit them both, and suit both body types (slim, small chest and curvy, well stacked!) is a nightmare. Doesnt help that they are 400 miles apart so its not like we can go shopping, and we have all said we'd prefer long dresses!

Could you get somebody to do a blessing? I attended a wedding earlier this year that was in a marquee and the couple had "legally" married the day before at the registry office, and then had a lovely ceremony on the Saturday that included religious and civil elements.0 -

I always assumed getting dresses made would be quite expensive, or out of my budget of £80 for adult dresses and £40 for kids dresses! I know I want the flowergirls to be in cream with a coffee colour sash, and then the other 4 bridesmaids to be in coffee colour dresses with a cream sash. Has anyone had dresses made?Ideas, help and advice always welcome, judgements and assumptions are not!!:happyhearMarrying my Mr Perfect 20130 -
I'm Roz and I appeared on the earlier pages of this thread as a trainee BZ. We've now set a date and I am a total control freak!!! I don't trust anyone to do anything without "messing it up"
MIL2B is being a right pain in the bum - she's got it into her head that she was the one who found the reception venue?! Even her own daughter (my lovely SIL2B) has told her that she didn't but she won't believe it!! :rotfl: She did exactly the same when we bought the house - is it a control thing?!
We are having a tiny ceremony and only wanted parents, grandparents & siblings there (we're having a big reception for 150ppl in the afternoon/evening but a small ceremony & pub lunch) but now OH has been persuaded to invite his aunt and his great aunt & uncle "because they're the only other family his mum has" She didn't say a word to me about it but collared OH when they were on their own. He mentioned it to me and I got upset as my Godmother wasn't on the guestlist due to the strict "immediate family only" rule that we'd decided on but he said he was putting his foot down... Well I flipped at that because he'd missed them off the evening guestlist and it was me who remembered to add them so they're not that special are they?!?!
Anyhow, we compromised in the end and they're coming along with my Godmother & her husband
Edited to add: Ooops almost forgot to add that when we then spoke to the "additional" guests and told them the date, his aunt said "Oh, but it's my 50th Birthday the week after." YES THE BLUMMIN' WEEK AFTER. NOT THE SAME DAY!!!!!!!!!! :mad:0 -

Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

Lol no its not me getting an ice cream van! Way too extravagant for my little budget day! Would be good fun though! And if I was I dont think Id care about ice cream with light coloured dresses as long as the pictures were done, would just want people to enjoy themselves!Ideas, help and advice always welcome, judgements and assumptions are not!!:happyhearMarrying my Mr Perfect 20130 -
