Pls pls pls pls can someone help me! I recieved my renewal pack over 2 weeks ago but haven't rang the main help line as am waiting for my p60 for confirmation of income. I haven't recieved a letter frm specialist team (yet) but according to my calculation it seems live tax credits over paid me by over £2,500! As it is my first full year since starting employment I didn't quite understand how it all works so over looked the overpayment, I feel so stupid and now scared as am worried Il oviously have to pay this bck but tax creds might leave me short for this new year! Unfortunantly I am a single mum with 2 young kids who uses childcare- basiclly I fit the whole bill of being picked on for my circumstances, yet I didn't get a letter frm specailist team and my award is over £8,500! I'm so scared to ring because I don't want to go through this whole scrutanising process as I have got off my backside and got myself a job and work dame hard too and still come home and deal with my kids and housework!!0 -
Hi Nay Nay
Firstly well done :T on working, it aint easy with 2 kids.
Why do you think you have been overpaid? If it is your first year of employment I think that it would be quite hard to do. Is it to do with your income? or perhaps you think you may have overstated your childcare?
Please try and stay calm, perhaps you could post somemore information and I am sure someone will be able to advise you - maybe you should start your own thread?

Thankyou Lucee for replying,
the problem is I over stated childcare, when I gave a prediction I gave an estiment for the year. Iv worked out I never spent that much as I predicted and to be honest because they pay chilcare together with childtax credit didn't think anything of it.I guess naively I was just grateful to start working and be given support for people like me inorder to help out with childcare cost so we can work and that the goverment promotes that it's money that we are entitled to so that we can remain in work.Bearing in mind that this was my first full yr in employment so I just gave details of what I thought would be the case. My problem is that I find I am constantly fighting the system and explaining myself as to why I an single and feel really demorolised. Before I was on income support and that was a nightmare. I would go in for a work focused interview wanting to genuinely get help 2 get bck into work, instead I get interegated as to who the father is, where he is and so on. Soon as I react by saying this is a work focused interview, whatever information you need about my personal life is already in my file and don't appreciate the way am spoken to. Before you knw it I have someone from the compliance team wanting to meet me at home. They came found nothing as I am truthfull. I guess after Reading all of these threads really don't want to be going back to feelin crap. I thought this system was designed to help us out! Yet once again you feel like a criminal. I stupidly miscalculated and feel it's not my fault and don't want to be interigated. People on this thread are just being picked on randomly without any explanation and it's not fair. I have so much honing on in my life right now I really don't have the energy to pick up the phone right now to face the music about this over payment. My 4yr old daughter hit her
leg on the sofa leg 4days ago, turns out after limping for 3 days, no swelling
no nothing I tuck her to A an E, turns out she's broken a little bone on her
foot! Tomorrow she's having a plaster cast and a walking frame and that it will
take up to 4 weeks to heel. Don't knw if her school(reception) is going to take on the resonsility of looking after her which might mean that I will have to take time off work....... It's all a nightmare.0 -
Yet while all of this is going on could you imagine the slightiest possibility of the specialist team contacting me wanting to talk about my award or even request more information. Forgive me for going on is their any one out there who renewed and told them of an overpayment. How did they deal with it? Was it straight forward or was it stressfull?0

Then hopefully you will probably be like the majority of TC claimants....and just get a standard renewal pack.
Take time NOW though to work out exactly what your childcare costs were, report them honestly, and if there has been an overpayment then negotiate a viable repayment rate.
Initially just get your childcare payments, P60, and benefit info to hand, wait for your renewal pack...and take it from there. If there has been an overpayment they will [STRIKE]stop at nothing to[/STRIKE] claim it back, so be prepared if you can.Not just a sucker for sweeties..:o0
