PinkPigg - I phoned the normal number. Never got the specialist renewal team letter which I considered quite strange because I am self employed and my nursery fees are quite high. I was fully expecting the letter. But yeah, I phoned them up and they said it's still processing so 48 hours isn't right for me :( Not nice to be left in limbo :(

forgot to add - when I initially received my specialist letter I was suspicious about it and phoned the main help line, the guy I spoke with knew nothing about it, spoke to his team leader who also knew nothing of this and advised me to ring the main helpline number and that he was putting a note on my file! Hopefully that will eleviate any hold up that may arise due to me not phoning the specialist helpline.

so did they not question your childcare fee's if they high? mine are quite low in comparison to some - mine are a mere £43 per week.

Nope. She didn't question anything. Just took my details and said that was fine.

I've never been questioned about anything really. I just presumed that I because gave the correct details, they checked with my child care provider and all was well because I was honest about what I was paying/receiving.

I think this year might be different because I have become self employed.

I think the person I spoke with was just checking that the wage details I was giving were correct as I have not received my P60 - makes me wish I had waited a few more weeks but then the details on my month 12 payslip are exactly the same and I just wanted to get it over and done with! I think they check childcare as a matter of course when claims are submitted for that eliment of the claim, my friend has just started using childcare and they have checked with her provider etc. I presume they checked with mine when I first started using childcare, my amounts have not changed since I started using childcare. I would like to think that if there was a problem they would have not been able to accept the renewal details I gave - the fact that I was told they had all gone through I can only assume are all ok. I would like to think if something came up mid way through the year that they were unsure of that they would have contacted me at that time.

I hope you're right. I'm not worried about my details as they are all correct. I wouldn't have given them over were there a chance that they were even slightly out. I'm worried about an over payment more than anything. Not just for this year but for previous years. You never know what they are going to say and what they are going to hit you with next. So even though I know my figures are correct for all years, it's the nightmare of sorting it all out that would be a pain. I'd just like it sorted! :(
  • Hi everyone

i too receved this letter last week. I got my renewal pack yesterday and rang the specialist phone number, got through staright away to a lovely lady who just went throough my award and took my income for the year end.

just phoned the main helpline to see if it had all gone through and it was processed this morning so im just waiting to get my award through the post now. :j
  • Seems the Specialist Team are processing the awards quite quickly.

Although there is a difference between processing and finalised. Georgie, do you know if they said processed or finalised?

Update: Spoke to the specialist line who tell me that as I renewed through the main helpline there is a inhibit signal on, (not allowed to remove it themselves due to new guidelines) it is on a worklist and the department are working their way through the renewals that were done on the main line, wish I had just done it through the specialist line now!. Reasured that it will be dealt with soon.
hi sjje i was told same thing that mine was on a worklist and provisional payments for 2010/2011 were on screen but not been finalised yet, just wondering have you been contacted by them or have you phoned back again to check has it been finalised yet?
  • to sjje. hi if you renewed on 20th and its now 29th did you receive a weekly payment in bank and was it for the normal amount from last year or the new provisional payment for this year? i renewed yesterday and am due a payment next wednesday and am wondering how much that will be.
