Update: Spoke to the specialist line who tell me that as I renewed through the main helpline there is a inhibit signal on, (not allowed to remove it themselves due to new guidelines) it is on a worklist and the department are working their way through the renewals that were done on the main line, wish I had just done it through the specialist line now!. Reasured that it will be dealt with soon.

    Hi,
I posted earlier in this thread, as I said I have renewed the claim and contacted the specialist helpline also who said it was all on the system to be processed. Today I phoned to check all ok and was told that a new provisional award was produced on Friday, for this year but as to date the award to finalise 09/10 was still waiting to be processed. I asked why a provisional had been issused if they had not finalised last year, and was told that it was for my information, But the payments may change again when it is finalised and there is no time scale for how long it will take to complete. The man I spoke to said that I just have to wait until its done. I did say that I was told I would recieve the final and provisional awards approximately two weeks after renewal, but again he said "we can not give a time scale". This goes against what the specialist team told me, as they said if awards not received then to ring back to ensure all gone through. Now I am totally at a loss as whether to ring back at the end of the week or is this going to go on indefinately? all they say is everything is on the system.
Any idea on if this is normal? has anyone thats gone through this system had their award notices yet?

The more I read the more I believe that this is all just causing so much more work. They should ensure that EVERYONE's claims are dealt with in the same way, never mind selecting CERTAIN people to follow a whole different procedure!! They certainly didn't take into account that people work and therefore the office hours that they were asking people to phone between are just not possible!! Maybe in the current climate this is a way of HMRC justifying jobs!!!! Creating jobs for the sake of it!!!!!!!!
  • hi pinkpig did they get back to you yet to say its all done ? mines all here now but i need to work out our self assesment so thought i'd do that first so i can give exact figures , the first letter was a bit worrying and i received my renewal pack yesterday with a letter inside saying "we told you we would be contacting you to review your tax credits award but that just has the 0845 300 3900 number on it not the one on the first letter ? what a mess lol !!! confusion for everybody

Ive just renewed through the number on my letter the guy was really nice but felt like i was getting the third degree on my childcare costs he wanted an hourly figure but i pay a set amount each week so i had to calculate it all out whilst he was on the phone anyways although my childcare cost are relatively high the hourly rate is only £3.50 and he said that was fine that is what they had recorded for my particular child minder. I have to say eventhough everything was completely above board it still makes you feel like your trying to rip them off in some way. How people commit fraud i will never know they must have nerves of steel!

Mummy23angles: Not had anything back yet from them, not since I phoned back to question whether it had gone through or not. I am just waiting to see what comes in the post now and will be keeping a close eye on my bank account to see if/when my payments change. I just phoned the main 08453003900 number. I agree its all very confusing!!!

xmaslolly76: I felt like it was the spanish inquisition when I renewed, though they never questioned my child care - currently £42 per week. They were more interested in my wages and wanting to know if I had taken the details from my P60 (which I had not, I had taken from from my month 12 payslip which shows an accumulative figure on it). Despite asking me if there would be any changes affecting my claim this year and my telling them that my daughter would finish her education in June, they could not record these details as they can only do this upto 30 days before hand - why ask then????!!!!!!! If they already have the information to hand why are they asking us, why don't they just bloomin well renew our claims without all this hassle!!!!! Arghhhhhhh

I phoned up the main helpline number this morning as I renewed on Monday and it only usually takes a couple of days to sort out. The guy frustratedly told me that it hadn't been done yet and it may take a couple of weeks. Ok yeah, I only renewed a couple of days ago but I wanted to check because I have no patience and I need to know if i'm getting any money this week or not!

Every year it's normally sorted in a day or two so i'm a little concerned that it hasn't been done yet. Probably over thinking it lol but not getting any money for just one week will seriously set me back.
  • Angel1978- Wont you still get your normal weekly/4 weekly payment till it is renewed? if it hasnt been done yet nothing should change till they have processed it.

We renewed last monday through the normal TC helpline then rang the Specialist team on tuesday and rang through things again with them and we had a normal payment on wed then 2 one offs on friday and yesterday and our normal payment today

Hi kaitlinsmummy - thanks for replying!

I wasn't sure if I was going to get a normal payment so I thought it best to phone up and ask about that. He was well off with me though. The first negative experience i've had with tax credits at all!

So you phoned up on Monday... confirmed on Tuesday 20th your details and then you had normal payment on Weds and then extra payment on Friday 23rd? That's quite quick then isn't it?! Hopefully mine will be sorted by Friday then if I rang it through on Monday. My payment isn't due until Friday so hopefully either way it'll be sorted!
  • it's a hell of a lot of people that have received these letters-400,000 so I expect it may take longer, although I know someone who has well over £8,500 annual childcare fee's but hasn't received this letter! Strange.

Goodness knows how it has been selected, but Im sure its just some pilot they are testing out.....
Wedding on hold until 2011. Mummy to DD1 3/2/6 DD2 5/10/7! Mortgaged to my eyeballs!
