well its over 12 months since people started to get these letters telling them that they had to renew their 2009/10 tax credit award through the specialist team- has anyone had the same letter this year ? ie you have to call specialist team to renew your 2010/11 award?0

The checks/specialist renewals are being done again this year, but with a different criteria. This year it is childcare they are checking on.0

Hi can any1 pls advise?? I have been trying to report a change in circumstances since last Nov.
I tried ringing but kept being put in a queueing system for up to half an hr,so I wrote a letter to inform them of my partners new job. I had no reply and no change to my wkly payments, which should have been reduced. I tried ringing again, same thing, automated queue's,Im self employed and I contact them every Jan with my end of year self assesment figures, but this year I could'nt get through on the telephone,so I wrote them a letter and this time I sent it recorded delivery, come April still nothing from them, still no change to my payments,so I phoned again finally I got speaking to someone informing them of my change in circumstances and end of year figure, she told me she would log it on her system but gave me a different number and said I needed to speak to them, low and behold every time I ring it's an automated queue. My payments still havent been amended I know I am being overpaid but they dont seem to care. My partner has since recieved a letter from the Inland Revenue requesting more information regarding his Tax credit claim which we have forwarded on to them. I have heard that we can be fined £300 for not reporting these changes,is this true/fair? we have proof of phone calls via itemised telephone bills and copies of recorded delivery postal receipts etc. Surely they are liable for not acting on the information we have given them?

I've had one of these letters asking for employment contract, p60, payslips, childcare contracts, receipts of childcare etc but they haven't given me an address to send it to for some reason.
Anyone know what this is? I'd ring them but I work in a call centre and I'm not allowed to make outgoing personal calls. I only get a 20 minute break as well to eat a quick lunch and last time I rang HMRC I was on the phone for over an hour. Their opening hours seem to be the hours I work as well.
Help anyone?0 -
renewed over the phone this year and received a provisional tax credit letter for april 11/ april 12 a couple of weeks later.
Today I received a letter from B&C Compliance operations based at Brighton addressed to both myself and my husband with just my national insurance number not his written on letter asking for my husbands original p60 and wageslips dating from Jan 11 to April 11, why is my national insurance number only (and not husbands) on the letter when its requesting details of my husbands wages ( I dont work)?
I called up the tax credit office to check if letter was genuine but just got told to send in what they are asking for in envelope provided.
The number on the letter just rings and rings no answermachine message, nothing.
I am abit confused whats going on as never had any of these problems before in the last 5+ years of claiming tax credits, has anyone else received this letter?0 -

Are the tax credits paid to you as that may explain why your NI no was on it?0 -
child tax credit goes to me, working tax credit to my husband0

hi all
i am a newbie here with a question
i also recieved a letter from compliance dept askinbg for details and accusing me of being a couple when i claimed as a single.
i was with a partner 18 months aga, but we split and he moved away so i claimed as a single person , and last year renewed my claim as a single.
my ex got moved back here with his job and due to lack of money ect moved into my spare room, we still get on but just not as a cple.
all the bills , rent ect are in my name and he gives me 30 quid a week rent and has a car registered here and sky , so he does not contribute to any bills of mine.
they have flagged hgim up as being here through credit file im guessing but as he has no financial connection with me now will i still be accused of being a couple ??
many thanks

Just received a letter this morning from Tax credits stating that another adult was using my address (my ex partner, who only used it once for car insurance). I'm worried sick as i have to send bank details mortgage statements bills nursery fees etc. My ex who is the father of my 2 kids also gets his wages paid through my account as he cant get a bank account out his wages he gives me £300 a month that covers the council tax and mortgage will this affect my claim as a single person he hasn't lived here in years0
