I wonder how long this takes once they have recieved the info. I havnt sent mine off yet. Let me know how you get on x x

Once the information is received, it should only take a couple of days for all the checks to be done and your renewal processed, although it can take a week or two before you actually receive your final award notice.

I have also received 1 of these letters after posting back my renewal. I came across this forum & now I am absolutely petrified that I am under some sort of investigation (probably doesnt help that I suffer with anxiety anyway! :-) ). I am too scared to call them incase I am interrogated like some seem to have been, I didnt sleep all night last night or eat all day yesterday, I cannot think about anything else, I have even had to take the day off work as I am in too much of a state. I have never felt so stressed about anything. I have done nothing wrong and yet feel like I am some sort of criminal.

I am very worried about them doing a credit check on me as they seem to have done on others, I live alone with my children, I have no credit so I see no reason for a credit check apart from to lead my abusive ex-partner to me as it will leave a footprint & I know he can get a copy of my credit check as he done it a few years ago.. would I have a right to refuse the credit check? I can prove I live alone by my council tax & lease, they can even come and check! I see no reason for this credit check and it is scaring the life out of me.

They should not be allowed to make people feel like this.

Your claim is being checked, as are many other claims this year. The best thing to do is to ring up and clarify the information required, it is certainly not meant to be an interrogation. But the fact is, and the results so far have shown it, there are many people who are claiming money they are not entitled to. As long as all the information held on your tax credit claim is correct, you will have no problems at all.

Hi, what do you meen by all the checks. Are they checking the info you send against the details on your claim or is there more to it???

    Thanks

Yes, if you claim childcare costs, they will check the contracts / receipts you send in to ensure you are claiming the correct amount. If they have asked for your P60, they will use it to check you have declared the correct income and so on. If you didn't reply or didn't supply sufficient information, they would then contact your childcare provider or employer to confirm any details they require.

Ok, well thanks for the info Compoff and also anyone else who replied. I got my letter from nursery today so will be sending my things off in the morning minus a contract for childcare because i dont have one. Lets just hope i worked the childcare out correctly as its based on an average (different price in the hols than the term time) I imagine all is OK though as i had some help with working that out.

Once i have a response from them ill post on here.

    Thanks x x

Well I rang them today & am kind of wondering what I was so worried about.. I was only asked a few basic questions (nothing that I didnt put on my renewal anyway) & the lady was very nice. Just think they could of worded the letter a bit better for us natural worrier's! She didnt mention having to send anything in but I do have everything should they ask apart from missing 2 months worth of childcare invoices (which I can get copies of) & I have never had a contract with my childcare provider but then I dont know anyone that has had one. I got the impression everything will be processed but shall see what the postman brings.

Has everyone had to send documents in?

*Feeling a bit silly for being so anxious about nothing*

I renewed through specialist line after posting my to the normal address. I was told by the lady in Specialist office that it would not be processed fully as I should be renewing through them now.

We went through the details which was fine no problem. I just wondered if anyone could tell me how long they waited for a payment to go in their account after revewing through this line, I know I am due an underpayment through over estimating.

    Thanks

I renewed through the Specialist team last Thursday and today I have 3 random tax credit payments in my account, so for me it was exactly a week.
