specialist team for tax credits renewal (merged)

I have recieved a letter asking me to send in mine and my husbands P60's and Childcare invoices or receipts.

I have the info to send them but am just confused as to why they need it. Do they think iv done something wrong???? I will be very embarressed if they phone my employer and nursery to check the details i send as it sounds as if they are investigating me and what sort of person will they think i am..........

i had the letter asking for exactly the same things, sent mine off a week ago, not heard anything yet!!!

Tax credits are carrying out more checks than usual this year on alot of high value awards, basically to make sure what people are receiving is correct, it doesnt mean you are under suspicion you are just one of those whose awards is being double checked before being processed, as you say you've got all the information required then there is nothing at all to worry about.

Hi, Yeah i have all the info they asked for except 1 thing. They have asked for any official contract i have with my childcare provider which i have never had. I do worry as i dont want nursery and my employer thinking iv done something wrong x x

although i dont find this a worry, i renewed my claim with this team today, the did not ask me for any more details, say they would be in contact with me again, or say they may require more information. i never have kept my childcare recepts i just shread things like that.... never have thought i needed to??

I have also received 1 of these letters after posting back my renewal. I came across this forum & now I am absolutely petrified that I am under some sort of investigation (probably doesnt help that I suffer with anxiety anyway! :-) ). I am too scared to call them incase I am interrogated like some seem to have been, I didnt sleep all night last night or eat all day yesterday, I cannot think about anything else, I have even had to take the day off work as I am in too much of a state. I have never felt so stressed about anything. I have done nothing wrong and yet feel like I am some sort of criminal.

I am very worried about them doing a credit check on me as they seem to have done on others, I live alone with my children, I have no credit so I see no reason for a credit check apart from to lead my abusive ex-partner to me as it will leave a footprint & I know he can get a copy of my credit check as he done it a few years ago.. would I have a right to refuse the credit check? I can prove I live alone by my council tax & lease, they can even come and check! I see no reason for this credit check and it is scaring the life out of me.

They should not be allowed to make people feel like this.

Have they asked you to send anything in or just to phone the specialist team to renew???

I got 2 letters. One of each. If its just the "phone us to renew" then i shouldnt worry too much. I phoned them this morning and spoke to a lovely lady who just asked me some questions. She asked me to confirm my name, address etc which is what i think they use the credit file for. She asked how many children i had and the name of my childcare provider as well as the weekly costs. My income for last year. I think that was it.

I dont get why i have to renew with the specialst renewal team at one office over the phone, and send stuff in to another office also called specialist renewal team. I shall be sending my docs in shortly im just waiting for a statement from nursery as i have misplaced the first one.

I think the credit file thing is just to make sure you are who you say you are. IE address matches the one on your claim (I THINK)
