I never had to speak to them, I did it all by post (I spoke to them on phone once and they said it was being processed but they never asked me for any of the details), and I didn't give them any proof of anything as they didn't ask! Mine was simple.
How long did yours take?0 -
just found it page 43 taxredit help read the quotes.x not everyone got letter but do need to renew thro st so if you renew thro main helpline or post details are stored but not finalised0

apparently if you renewed as soon as you got the letter thro the main helpline were removing markers which they should not have been, see taxcredithelp posts,so perhaps that what they done with yours x0

i renewed thurs thro specialist team ,no letters so far for more info etc, i think they only send them if you dont contact them to renew or they cant get hold of you but reading prev posts the letters are usually sent few weeks after they rec;v your renewal and cant get hold of you or validate info provided. that just my understanding of it all.0

i guess they have validated your info with the systems they have access to and i have read that if you get your finalised award thro then you will not be required to send further info unless they check your file during the year so happy days yours is done lol0

i was dreading renewing but when i called thurs was only asked for ni num conf my name address etc not asked to set up password, names and dob children ,who i worked for or anything like that it was quicker than main helpline, girl i spoke with said i got all details so i think they check before you renew,i not certain but that the impression i got. i dont mean to sound as if i know it all but i have been thro every post on this forum so got some idea how this team work and just remember what i have seen on the taxcredithelp posts.0

the specialist renewal are finalising awards in some cases without speaking to customer or requesting further information, in a lot of cases they are simply checking income details with the PAYE systems, obviously if you have things like childcare on your claim it may be more likely they will request further info.
also the new security process thats been mentioned wont have been experienced by everyone, thats because when you press the renewal option there is a high chance of you getting through to an advisor who is simply there to complete renewals during the busy period, these advisors are not trained fully on all aspects of tax credits and will just use the standard security process.0
