I think its a new thing when i changed my bank details they asked me loads of questions and created a password, things like favourite food previous address etc i think its just so if you ring you can give password and/or they will ask you couple of the questions they asked before and expect same answer most companies do it, i wrote my answers in a book because i never remember security questions or passwords, i dont think its anything to be concerned about just checking identity they will probably reset it all up for you just remember to write down things months on you probably wont remeber password or what they asked me was what was my favourite food something that could change!!
Hi MYDOGCRYSTAL,
Did you have to attend their office to do this or did you do it over the phone. Thanks0 -

Hi Kerry13238,
Do you know if you have to attend their office to do this or can it be done over the phone. Thanks0 -
Hi
I did all this over the phone but obviously they had used my equifax file to check my answers which were ok and set password up, if they asked you questions and something was a bit different i mean they asked me when i moved in this house and i couldnt remember if it was 2003 or 2004 then this is why they need proof, seems a bit extreme asking you go to office why cant you send details, i suppose they are making sure you are who you are but you are, so dont worry, maybe give them a call back and if office is a long way away ask why you cant post documents as long as not photocopies

im worried that i may have to pay back some of my tax credits from this last year as i sent my final figures in too late (feb 16th) - so where would that leave me with regards to paying back or obtaining tax credits this year. The system is so confusing i dont know whether im coming or going all i know is that i have lost a lot of money by sending in my figures late0

Hi its very confusing I know, god im in same boat my stupid husband had been self employed years ago and because it was same company name reused after period in PAYE he thought old UTR would be ok. He has been accepted for backdating but im worried too that last year all WTC will be have to be repaid because of his error and have to start claiming anew.
If what i said before was true you will have lost a lot of money and its a shame they didnt tell you to reapply at the time, im not a tax credits expert just tax credits victim previous and now made errors myself sometimes i wish never had to claim it worries you sick when they query anything or overpayments or errors made and self employment is worse thing going for knowing whats what, i sympathise and im worried sick too couldnt manage without tax credits money at moment like millions of others, hubbys fault i know but still worrying

as mentioned above they have recently introduced a new security process which involves you verifying your identity once using information provided to them by experian, i'm assuming they didnt have enough information to complete this process with you or that some of your replies didnt match that will be why you will need to attend a local office.0 -
Found my letter and have rang to renew...seemed easier than usual to me..
Confirmed my details, how many kids, asked about disabilities which i said yes for one child, they checked that on their system and said fine, then confirmed my ICA and asked for OHs s/e income for 2009/2010 which i have overestimated...didnt ask for estimate to 2011 which i expected...told would get new award notice in 7-10 days....seemed too easy but will still worry til i get the post!!!0 -
can anybody ever seriously get through to this specialist renewal team, when i tried to renew got through in one ring then they asked for more info because my sill husband hadnt registered for self employment, so now hes done this and is going into the local hmrc asap to do self assessment try as i might can never ever get through, so left message last week finally gets call yesterday which i missed and was left voicemail saying they were returning my call and to call 01253 503500 for ladys extension but its not a recognised number whats going on.
Not had any other letters and seriously and quickly need to know if him self assessing with definite figures which i can post paperwork of to them will be enough or do they want anything else but this is a nightmare caused by my daft husband but trying to speak to anyone is horrendous, she was supposed to try to call me again today still no joy, if self assessing isnt enough need to know what else they want because time is running out for renewal, anyone tax credits experts or had similar problems or any advice will help:(0
