If the Self-Employment line advised they would backdate your husbands self-assessment then that should be good enough for Tax Credit Office. I can't say for certain but I think your WTC should be ok for last year on that basis.
Once your husband has his Self-Assessment on the system then Tax Credit Office will be able to confirm the information using the Self-Assessment system.0 -
Hi Tax Credit Help
Thats great, do you know how long this would take as Ive been given 3 more weeks to supply information, as we had estimated a loss but thats because its his first year trading would it be better to go in asap to tax office and get a proper figure or do we still have till january 2011 to do this.
Also you may not know this but my husband gets a small rental income from letting his friend live in his late mothers house this year will this be put on the self assessment form or is it other income, ive tried to look on self employment details and i think it goes on self assessment but when i spoke to specialist helpline it seemed she may have had some income on her records that i hadnt told her, not because im hiding it but because i was under impression this would all be self assessed and with his expenses etc etc then would get an incorporated figure for a profit or loss verified from the revenue. Sorry to sound stupid but when you havent done this before it gets confusing, however if it does come down on other income instead and its paid by the council to a dss tenant i dont want to put it in the wrong area when his accounts are finalised. this self employment business is so messy and i can quite see why so many people get it wrong.
Hopefully after we get the self assessment forms and see the questions asked it will become clearer.
Sorry to bombard you with all these questions just want to get it all right.

hi there I phoned up tax credits 2 weeks ago now to do my annual declaration. I was told that they had all of the information they required and that they would process my renewal and wrtie to me in due course.
I recieved a one off payment into my bank last thursday and today i have received a PROVISIONAL TAX CREDITS AWARD NOTICE and im a bit confused as to why i have received it. It says i need to sign and send off my tax credits annual review pack even though i have renewed over the phone???? it doesnt make sense. the people on the helpline are as much help as a chocolate fireguard i just dont know what to do ?? i dont even have the annual review pack anymore. DO I JUST WAIT AND SEE IF THE FULL AWARD NOTICE COMES THROUGH THE DOOR ?
i wonder it tax credit help could have a look at this for me and let me know what you think
thanks M0 -
Hi
I know what you mean about being confused and whats going on.
Hopefully TaxCreditHelp can help you too. Im still confused as can be, if my husband now has a UTR(which was asked for), has registered for self empoyment and NI do I still have to send adverts for looking for work, invoices, business cards etc as if hes now registered surely specialist team cant say hes not working or looking for work and i thought he was able to self assess up to january not have to give proof of earnings BEFORE renewal or i cant renew because that is what it sounds like to me. Got the feeling Im going to end up paying all this back0 -

Hi the same happened to me 5 days ago and today I got my final award. They are doing this with everyone. I havent spoken to anyone at the Specialist team and they havent asked for any proof of anything, judging by this post i thought they were going to! I would just sit and wait for your final award if I were you.0 -
HI all can someone give me advice please. Taxcreditshelp would be great if possible!
I have just received my final award notice for 2009-2010 and all fine. Our joint income for the year was £18930.00. The award says income gone up? THis does not usually affect your tax credit payments for this year. THey will stay the same until 5th April 2011 as long as there are no other changes in your income or circumstances.
From 6th April 2011 your payments will be based on income of £19270.74. So if your income is more and you leave telling us your income going up until you complete your renewal pack you may be paid too much from 6 April 2011.
My question is this. My husband is likely to earn around £16,000 this year (he is self employed) and mine is £8700. So a joint income of £24700. So should i ring TC now and tell them that is our estimated income? Or does their wording mean we dont need to tell them? Does it mean that our income rise wont effect our payments this year? I am a bit confused. Thank you0 -
NUMPTYTOES yes you should ring because your award now on lower amount and you will build overpment because if the estimating on 19270...and you declare 24700 there will be overpment between difference ,that onlt my opinion tho.0
