if you got nothing to worry about and have been requested to renew via S TEAM then do so immediately cos they know if your lying it there in front of them.i chose to tell the truth, see first post, and all ok. for the worriers like me there have been posts on here where people claim for wtc ctc and childcare but have not wrkd since last yr claimed both wtc ctc and child care because they needed the money, well sorry we all need bit extra but lying will not help. you cant claim for the above but yet have jsa etc and not get caught out. anyway wil not be on here again so best of luck to you all xxxx its the honest hard workn people who are rewarded, the less honest good luck at the end of the day this specialist are there to check and you will be found out.xx

The reason I thought £4490 was not high value is because when I asked the chap what they classed as a high value claim he replied....around £8000. Therefore, I assumed that in their eyes my award isn't high value.

i think that 8000 figure has just been pluckede from thin air by someone. As far as i'm aware there is no financial cut off above which they refer it to specialist renewals team. There are many claims above 8k which wont be looked at and many awards lower than your own which will also be looked at. Personally i find it reassuring that they are carrying out more checks these days. I understand the wait is frustrating for people but there has always been too much trust placed on the claimant and too many people willing to take advantage of that. At the end of the day if you've been honest then you've nothing to worry about.

The 'Specialist renewals' team is actually called the High Value Renewals team. They are only looking at awards over £8500. If you are having delays in getting your renewal processed, and you are under this figure, then your renewal is not being looked at by this team. There may be other problems with your renewal, but I can confirm 100% that this team only looks at awards which were above £8500 for the 09/10 tax year.

Thanks Compoff for that info. The second advisor I spoke to seemed a bit surprised I'd been told it was delayed because of it being "high value". She seemed to think it was just taking longer than usual to check. This is fine with me if that is the case. All the information I've given is true and correct so hopefully it's just a delay.

got letter saying that i needed to call the specialist renewal team... even if i had returned the pack altready.... he said he would process it after talking to him but will wait for paperwork til am sure it's done...

    xx
  • I recieved one of these letters, but forgot all about it when i finally recieved my renewals pack, so i sent it off by post. I recently called the tax credits helpline who told me that they had recieved my renewal but it had not been processed yet, i asked the lady what was causing the delay and she said that it was just to do with some many renewals coming in. Today i recieved a letter from the tax credit specialists again saying that i needed to contact them as they had been trying to contact me ( no messages have been left on my answer machine). I rang them straight away, and explained that I had sent my renewal in the post and she told me that it wouldnt have been processed if I had not have called them ( yet the person i spoke to the other day did not tell me this! ) She read out a statement about getting fined for giving the wrong information to them and asked the usual questions, my income, husbands income, my childrens names and dob, childcare's address and how much it costs and how many days my children attend, ( the last question they have never asked me before and also my new mobile number. I asked is this was all that needed to be done and she said that they would contact me if they needed any more information and if they didnt need anything else then they would send me my new award notice out, however from reading the posts on here not many people seem to have recieved their tax awards. surely they must have a deadline to get everyones renewal completed.
