i hope everything goes well for all of those visiting hospital today.

i have got a day of serious cleaning to do. now its the holidays my MIL is bound to turn up with 10 mins notice and then want to 'help'. this means a lot of stress on my behalf. she told dd that she was too young to clean her toys away! and now dd uses that excuse every time i ask her to do something - i was not happy. She is almost 5 and i know she can put toys in a box. MIL also told her that her tshirts were too small as the opening got a little stuck on her head when getting changed. she now refuses to wear any of her tshirts as 'they are all too small'.

Anyway enough of my ranting for now. must get on

    morning all

Man on the moon my husband has relied on my knowledge so far as experience as a nurse and as a maternity night nanny apparently makes me the expert!! Although he did say the other night oh if I am going to do the 10/11pm feed you best show me what to do - no he didnt think that up himself some discussion had taken place at work.

Have taught him difference between babygros and vests at last.
However he does do lots around the house when I was feeling so sick for first 15wks he did everything inc cook and didnt moan when I didnt eat it after time cooking what I asked for. he still does lots without being asked as well.

Not sure why up so early slept so badly last night - must not nap this afternoon then will prob sleep better tonight. Got midwife at 10.45 that means 11.45 with their timinings I am sure. Then haircut this afternoon have a home hairdresser makes life easier.

best go and find some breakfast.

:) Well, I know - okay 'remember bits' - from all those years ago, but i'm guessing many things have changed medically and certainly with my circumstances. I have a pregnant partner who talks to me and is willing to share her fears and needs for starters :o

The housework isn't even an issue, as being a single dad for a few years I had to do it all with a little help from my girls. I just don't want to patronise her and do too much for her too soon. Any extra knowledge for both of us will be good as she doesn't have much idea about pregnancy.

I think we are both just very nervous.

    Hi MOTM, another fella! wooo

I can recommend the Haynes baby manual, if you're any good at fixing cars its the same concept and its for all makes and models :D it has sections on common baby illnesses and remedies in the back for when he/she arrives too.

I also need to mention - its best if you point your OH in the right direction for finding all the pregnancy stuff out herself. From experience i can tell you that they HATE it when you come off the computer and think you can tell them everything thats going on. Its best to keep quiet and nod/agree when they discover something on their own, bless them! :)

The bounty website is good for pregnant ladies as is this site. My missus uses the bounty one whilst i annoy all the ladies here.

Hi Bufger. I won't post much, but shall try my best to come in.

I shall add Haynes Baby manual to the list of books we need to find.

Partner works in a GP surgery so she'll gather as much info there as possible and she's already been online. She does want to do alot of it together, which sounds good. I think she thinks as i've been here before though, that i'm going to know alot more than her. Maybe I do, but maybe alot more than the little she knows still is not enough.

I'll add bounty website to list as well for us to look up.

    Thanks everyone for their advice/comments.

Hi everyone, good luck at the hosptial durham girl and smartie. Thankyou pigpen, will have to see if baby is a he when he comes out. Been to the midwifes this morning. Baby is now lying oblique, that could be why im not getting as much rib pain now, which is good. She listened to the heartbeat that was good. Ive to go back when im 35 weeks, will be a different midwife through as she is off for a couple of months. Back at the hosptial in two weeks.

Got housework to do today, to take our dog out and driving lesson this afternoon. Dh will be home at some point today too.

  • Morning all, hope everyone is well.
Good luck Smartie, hope all goes OK today at the hospital for you.
    Welcome MOTM !

I wonder if someone could tell me what this baby is doing? I'm almost 32 weeks now and head has been down every time I've been to mw since about 24 weeks, but I'm guessing there has been a lot of jiggling about in that time. Since the weekend it feels like baby is moving downwards, but surely it's a bit too early to be engaging? I know they sometimes do then pop back out again, how can I tell? On Saturday night it felt like there was an arm/leg being pushed down into my pelvis to the left - which would make sense as I think the back is towards the right. Yesterday, it felt like something was actually in my foof although it didn't feel very much heavier than normal. Last night there was a lot of wriggling what felt like side to side movements rather than kicking, and then there was a lot of kicking downwards onto my cervix and bladder. This morning it's not so bad but I definitely feel like my lungs aren't as squashed and I feel more pressure on my cervix today. I'm assuming at this stage baby is running out of kicking room anyway.
Is my baby getting ready to engage so early?
I'm at the mw tomorrow so I'm sure she'll tell me and I'm not concerned as it's still moving about - just fels quite sore and I wish I had a little telly tubby TV screen so I could have a peep what it's up to :D

I had loads of 'bumps' on my pelvis the other day like little monster was trying to ram her head down and not getting anywhere, it was really painful actually!

They can engage ages before birth, I think DD1 did though can't remember exactly how many weeks I was!

That's not the way to deal with it. You have to deal with it the way OH dealt with our peeping tom across the road. We're overlooked by a townhouse and when we first moved in the neighbour kept looking in our bedroom window so OH jumped on the bed, got his thing out and started swinging it around....

....Funnily enough he never looked through our window again :D

Lol!! Maybe its worth a try!!! All I do at the mo is when someone is staring I start waving like a crazy person!

OH just phoned saying the nets have been delivered and he is going to attempt to hang them before I get home... hope he puts them up how I want!!! (I sound like a right cow!!!)

Hope everyone is ok... Smartie and Durham good luck for today.. hope those babies stay in a bit longer!!

    Hi all. x

Pigpen - I'm in Leeds also, and with DD had a rather scary birth at LGI, and was thinking of going to Jimmy's this time (early days mind, only 8+4). Just wondered which one you were under and getting the horrendous treatment from?

Really hope you feel better soon. x
