Good to know it's not just me. I weigh about 6 pounds less in the morning when I'm not so swollen (how gross is that )

I don't mind though as I don't look like I've put that on and everyone keeps telling me I'm all bump so I'm hoping I'll just lose a lot of it quite quickly!!!

My MIL keeps telling me and all her friends that I am massive  :( and everytime my FIL sees me, he keeps saying I look fit to burst!!!!

Everyone else says that it is all bump, but I know I have put weight on everywhere else as well - mostly my thighs (which now have cellulite  *sob, sob*). It is all spread out though so just look like a slightly bigger version of me with a bump lol! I will weigh myself in morning and see if I weigh less lol! I am really swollen all the time - could that be half a stone of fluid lol?! Pregnancy is soooooo glam! :o

totally gutted hospital phoned today to say that my iron was 10.9 so they want me to start taking my iron tablets :( but she also said 10.9 isnt that bad she just doesnt want it to get any lower. i really really hate those tablets the constipation is unbearable!! dont know what to do!! so she said ive to get my bloods taken again in 4 weeks to check if the levels increase. might just chance it and see what happens i know loads of people whos iron has been far lower and theyve been fine.

Mine was 9.2 at 28 weeks.. no idea what it is now at almost 35.. and I don't much care.. it'll sort itself once baby arrives and i cannot take iron at all.

They will prescribe lactulose to take alongside the iron if you ask.. but that makes me ill as well lol

Weight gain.. I've put on about 4 stone so far..

You don't look like you could gain 4 stone in your bump pic PP!

Do you loose it all after? Are you one of those wonder women who step straight back into their old clothes?!

I'm usually back in them after a few weeks.. and apparently I don't look as heavy as I actually am.. most people think I am normally about 9 stone when I am more like 11.5... I am just a heavy person anyway.

I think I have half a stone on each boob at the moment!! a stone on each thigh and the baby must be the 4th stone lol

    hi ladies,

    can't remember anything anyone's said, sorry :o

my bump feels incredibly tight tonight, I think small person has had a massive growth spurt. Feel really emotional too, like I'm on the verge of tears all the time. Had a 2 hour sleep when I got in and felt better but i've just hit a wall completely in terms of my energy and enthusiam for work

question: i've heard (have I? or did i make it up?) that babies go still before they're about to be born. Is this true? and is it cos they're too big to move easily or to do with the birth itself? Bump is rock solid right up to the top which I've not had before and back aches tonight too

    hope everyone's well xxx

    Lol!! :rotfl:

I weigh more than people think too. At my booking appt after my scan (10 weeks preg) when they do that personalised growth chart thing, the health care assistant was going on about how petite I am, she then weighed and measured me and my BMI was 27! I was like, 27, she was shocked too! She said BMI up to 30 is classed as OK in pregnancy but I am normally BMI 25 - goodness knows what it is now!! Glad they don't weigh you every appt like in America!!

Do you think the breastfeeding helps loose the weight? I know some ppl that have said they don't think it makes a difference as you are supposed to eat more when b/feeding so it just evens it out? I really want to b/f, am just worried I'll be carp at it! :o

DP and PP I'll probably put on another stone before baby comes the way I am eating at the mo!! Feel lightheaded if I don't eat so I have to!! I think guidelines re eating/weight gain comes from docs who have never been preggers!! I was also slightly overweight at beg of pregnancy but don't look huge either - we must carry it well!

breastfeeding does NOT make you lose weight.. breastfeeding makes your uterus and internal organs go back to their proper places quicker.

I don't lose much weight until I stop breastfeeding at which point it all comes off very very quickly. You need the fat stores in order to make milk so it isn't going anywhere in a hurry.. though of course there are some who do lose it very quickly.. it all is very individual.

My BMI was 28 before I got pregnant.. not that I think BMI is an accurate meaasurement of anything.. atheletes in peak form often have very high BMI due to the amount of muscle which weighs more than fat and are therefore categorised as obese.. I just tell everyone I am muscular :p .. when really I am built for comfort NOT speed!

I have only got my own scales to go on as I haven't had any antenatals so they can't whinge :D

Totally agree on BMI. There was a item on our local news where a boy in my town was classed as obese due to his BMI. He was tall and to me looked, if anything, slim. He and his family were rightly pi**ed off with the PCT for sending a letter to advise he was at risk of heart attack, diabetes etc when he was actually in good health and played sports 4 to 5 times a week! Like you say, muscle mass is not taken into account in BMI. (Although mine is certainly not muscle! :o)

Ta for info on breastfeeding. Do you think it is NHS propaganda saying it will help you loose weight to encourage more mums to do it (to tick their little boxes for quota of mums b/feeding)?
