Afternoon ladies.
Smartie seems like no-one knows what they are doing, hope you get an answer.
KK good to hear you can use the birth centre, thats what I hope to do.
Re wine and naughty stuff, I have been good until recently as haven't fancied it really anyway. I have had the occasional wine/half shandy and will probably do this wkd as is our first wedding anniversary. Also I have started having runny eggs again as I really enjoy them, but only really not around the runny egg police (my DH!).Thomas born 28/08/2010 weighing 5lbs and 4ounces, small but perfectly formed :j:j Now weighs 19lbs and 5 ounces

Please excuse my language:o
:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: stupid f'ing hospital and one more  for luck:p
After LOTS of sitting around and in and out of consultants room I'm home:) Saw another consultant this time who yet again failed to even look at my notes properly and thought I was 23 weeks???!!! That's when I had last scan and he assumed I had just had the scan done!!
Him "why haven't you had scan today"
Me "you tell me"
Him "I can't do much without blood test results and there probably isn't anything wrong"
Me "look in your paperwork stupid man and you'll see them"
Him "oh ok there is a problem... *lots of muttering that I didn't understand*... go sit down in waiting area" (again:mad:)
And so it carried on....
Spoke to someone else who said no point in scan... there's a big enough queue for one!!! Maybe have one another day.
I've got to go to delivery suite on Weds:eek: to have an injection and for monitoring. Then appointments every week:(
Blood pressure high... I wonder why that is!!:rotfl:So bloody annoyed with that hospital:mad: Had to stand at reception desk for flipin ages to even book in!! Not good when you're about to faint:o
....And breathe!:D
This is so RUBBISH! Sorry if I missed this but what's the scan/non-scan for? You're about the same dd as me near enough so I'm just being nosey.
This is exactly why I agree with PP and make a point of staying as far away from hospitals as I can. I only agreed to have the baby in one becuase I have strep B and baby needs me to be on a drip. My mw tries to put a plaster on me every time I go for a blood test and every time I have to tell her I'm allergic. Last time she took vials of blood she didn't need to - despite me telling her I'd already had them done the week before.
Anyway, hope you're OK and managed to calm down after wasting your time.Dear_Prudence wrote: »Hiya
According to the 'correct' temperature for babies our room is constantly way 'too hot' for a baby which is ridiculous seeing as babies are born in countries that are hotter than ours. I'm just going to feel whether the baby is too hot and not worry about the room temperature, they can just go down to a vest or even just a nappy if they are still too hot wearing more...
My mum was saying this "why don't you just feel the baby and if it's hot take a blanket off and if it's cold put another on". I don't trust my judgement yet and would like to have something to "check" with. I know, I'm a rubbish mummy
OT: I bought some baby clothes in white off ebay and they are all in great condition but some are looking a bit grim - looks like they've been washed with darks at some point. Anyone any ideas of how to get these white again - I was wondering if that stuff you can buy for nets would work?Bellymonkey due 25/09/10 :j0 -
congrats 1 more, so glad everything went nice and quickly for you.
Sorry you're having a naff time of it Smartie
Pigpen is baby being quiet like they can be prior to delivery, is that what your others did?
Kit Kat I'd find that very scary being told baby can come any time now, lol
Well I've had a naff week, off work this week as well, I'd be better off at work. My dog got put to sleep on MondayHe was 10 years old, his back legs weren't good at all and hadn't been for some time, but he had no quality of life any more.
Yesterday I slipped and fell in the shower in a spectacular fashion , shower curtain and pole off the wall etc. I have a lovely bruised elbow. I had a midwife appointment yesterday anyway and flumps fine, which I knew as she was wriggling away after being violently woken up.
I hope this week gets better!0 -
I tried all that stuff to get DD1s school blouses cleaner but they don't really work... If they're plain white I would dilute some bleach and give them a little soak, make sure you rinse them thoroughly and then put them through a normal washA very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Sorry to hear you had a rubbish time at the hospital Smartie. And booo! for not letting you have a scan.
I need to see my GP to get a prescription for the Heparin injections that the consultant says I have to have from 3rd trimester, but have this funny feeling that the consultant's not going to have written to the GP to tell him why I need them and I'm going to end up having to traipse all the way back to the hospital again to sort it out. I have an appointment with my MW at the surgery tomorrow, so hopefully she'll be able to see if it's on my records before I make the appointment with the GP.
We've just been offered a changing table :T I wasn't going to get one since I thought they were an expensive luxury, but a hand-me-down would be brilliant. DH says it's a "Ben & Jerry" make - but surely that's ice cream?? Anyone have any idea what the make might be, so I can have a nosy on the net and dream some more about my nursery
Bit miffed with work today. I've spent the last few months working on a project to review past business and the company have just had a report from the regulator which makes most of my work completely meaninglessYou can do anything, make anything, dream anything. Sadly no, they have little motifs on. Maybe some Ace bleach would work. I'm not usually a fan of chemicals but would like to have a go at getting them clean - or the other option would be get a yellow dylon and dye them allBellymonkey due 25/09/10 :j0 -

no but a very dilute bleach does.. I just slop some in a bucket with some hot water leave overnight and wash the whole lot on hot.
If that doesn't work.. dye them pretty colours!!Pigpen is baby being quiet like they can be prior to delivery, is that what your others did?
I think it might be... which just makes me more scared lol.. no 'special poo' yet though so all is staying put lol.. I also have terrible heartburn which I get just before as well.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
There is stuff for removing colour runs that worked a treat when Hubby dyed one of the baby's dresses a dodgy shade of pink... The trouble was it also took the colour out of the little red flowers on it... I think it was just the type of material though because it took the durgy grey colour out of the green part of the swing that I managed to dye, but the green underneath was still fine...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Argh Smartie sounds like a nightmare, really hope your MW gets on the case! xxMetranil_Vavin wrote: »Thanks DP. I've been lucky in that I didn't suffer any sickness at all the first 12 weeks, and my appetite hasn't changed at all really. I still love food!!!
I've eaten runny eggs I have to say. I really craved them actually, and hard boiled eggs just do not cut the mustard!
What were the reasons for avoiding stuff you mentioned above out of interest? The not eating runny eggs is because of salmonella... Which Lion stamped eggs are vaccinated against! My OH is driving me mad with it. I've gone 25 whole years without catching it... I'm hardly going to get it now they vaccinate the chickens am I :wall:
Yes this is the reason for the runny eggs, because of salmonella. The way I see it, I don't worry about getting salmonella when I'm not pregnant, so why worry when I am pregnant (and the same goes for everything else). Plus most hens are now vaccinated.
The cheese and pat! thing is to do with listeria (and the pate thing is also to do with vitamin A, but this is not a reason to not eat it AT ALL). I looked into this and the number of people who have had listeria in this country is absolutely minute in the last few decades, the chances are so unbelievably slim, PLUS I also discovered that listeria CAN be introduced AFTER pasteurisation which just makes a mockery of the entire thing, as then they should be telling you you're not 'allowed' any cheese even if it has been pasteurised.
Also with the vitamin A thing, my mum ate tons of liver when pregnant with me and my bro because they thought it was good back then!!! And we turned out fine (well... I would say we're ok :P)
I just get really wound up by all the stupid 'are you allowed' 'you're not allowed' - no I will make my own mind up thank you I didn't get a labotomy when I conceived!!!
Anyway have a FABULOUS holiday!!BudgetBlonde wrote: »

I don't know what I'm doing either, i'm sure you'll get the hang of it once the baby is born - plus I'm sure if a baby is too hot it will cry. We will have to be able to tell if they have a temperature etc. and I reckon we'll pick it up pretty quickly with judging their temperaturealso you could have a baby that's in a room with the 'right temperature' but still put too many blankets on and then they get too hot.
I'm sure you'll be a fab mummy!
Right gotta crack on with making dinner already as DH is DJing at the school disco tonight so needs tea early, ha.0 -

My DH would say EVERYTHING has chemicals in....the whole world is made up of them! He's an oxford chemistry graduate so I can't argue back!!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0
