Hey ladies, its been a while since i last posted! Hope you are all well. I've read back a couple of pages to catch up but you all type too fast so i'll have to start from scratch :)

Did some baby shopping on saturday for the big stuff and then got some treats from the family too! im not sure on any kind of reviews on these though so if some of you that already have LO's have used similar then let me know!

Got this for £40! It was an ex demo in perfect working order. Any good? i can see it being useful but i dont know anyone that has a swinger chair thing (i was originally just going to get a bouncer).

Also got a silvercross 3d for £250 with loads of accessories and changing bags etc etc. It seemed easy to use and i was thinking about its weight, width and all that other stuff to see if my missus would be able to lift it in the car so i hope its suitable! what do you guys think about it?

Then we got loads of second hand stuff really cheap. A play mat with mobile for £2, cot for free (need a mattress), rocking horse for £5! All from friends of family so we dont feel like its a risk.

Does everyone else start buying stuff around 22 weeks? is it a 'safe' time to do so? dont worry we're not keeping the pram and cot at our house :)

smartie12 if it helps i know what im having, but i still dont feel like i know do u know what i mean. like i still find myself calling the baby "it" instead of he. i still dont feel like ive bonded with the baby either. my OH goes on and on about how much he loves the baby etc and to be honest i dont really have a strong feeling about it. of course when im talking to people i gush and act totally in love with my bump but im lying when i do this. truth be told im frightened to death about the whole thing.i find myself asking silly questions like "will i love him straight away" etc. BUT ive decided to stop worrying about all this and just go with the flow, cos no matter what in about 12 weeks bubs will be here and im just gonna have to deal with it lol!

oh and i see your getting a haircut im mighty jealous i have roots down to my ears:eek:

Hello Lady Bumps (and our Gent!)

Question when we had the scan on Saturday she said I had a placenta praevia but that she thought it may be due to my full bladder and that it is something that is checked on the NHS 20 week scan. They said it was attached at the top and that this was good but it did come down low?????

It looked like the middle one

Does anyone else have experience of this????

    Afternoon All,

Dereambirdie - I am just like that. My bumb is called 'it', even though I know its a He. And even though I can see the bump / have swollen ankles / pains etc I still cant quite accept that in 8 ish weeks I will be having a baby. Am hoping that the closer I get the more I may begin to accept it. Though that will probably just cause panic lol.

Smartie - are you thinking of buying or renting a TENS machine. I also would like to use one for the birth but not sure which way to go, and which machine to get etc.

I used a TENS machine when I was induced for my daughter I thought it was fantastic. Mine was hooked up by the hospital as I was induced.

The pain I had was like period back ache pain and I didn't know that I was in Labour  They only took me down to the labour ward because her heartbeat was tachycardic and it turned out I was 3 1/2 CM !!!!

Do waters clean up ok? I have cream carpets throughout my house and I couldnt imagine anything worse!! I would hate them to go in my work, I work with all men and I know they would take the pi$$! Plus theres 4 flights of stairs, and you have to walk through 2 busy shops, dont think I could take the shame!!!

I am prepared for mine to go in bed, got a waterproof mattress cover on already!! I somehow bet they wont go there though!!!

cleans up great.. stains the underlay though lol

I have a waterproof cover on too.

Nail all pretty and slightly shorter than usual so I don't poke baby eyes out.

I got my hipg today :j:j. Just need my maternity leave to start now so I have time to go shoppng for cute baby things.

With ds my waters broke when I was in hospital after several hours of labour.
With dd they went in the night - funnily enough this particular night I had kept my underwear on which I never ever do -so that soaked up some of it (was only a small trickle). Then when I got out of bed they went proper - luckily I had kept a towel close by and that managed to catch most of it.

My mw recommended using a towel under the bedsheet - I'll be doing that this time round too.

I'm going to be investing in a swing instead of a bouncer, but have noticed that alot of them seem really cheap quality when they're around the £40 mark. (After checking in Babies R Us over the weekend, may be spending more than I thought unless I can find someone on Netmums with something similar!) The only thing I would say with this is go and check out the models before you buy it if you can, as so many just seemed unstable!

As for the Silvercross 3D, I bought this over the weekend and I'm only 5'2". I find it easy to manoever and steer, but it is slightly on the heavy side for lifting. As I don't drive, lifting it into the boot isn't an issue for me, but I wouldn't say it was completely out of the question based on my own strength, height etc.

I have been buying stuff from about 20 weeks+ as I found it easier to budget this way, and it also means that now I have everything in case bubs makes an early arrival! (Which makes me feel a little more secure!)

    Hope this helps!

SAMMY - Hope it happens for you soon hun!

PIGPEN - Yes you definitely do need to stray around and watch out for me and Xmas!

SMARTIE - Can't help you with regards to the Lloyds TENS machine, but I've just ordered the Boots own brand TENS to keep. It came today so will have a play with it when I get home from work.
