KitKat ---- I agree with Xmas and would have a frank talk with your midwife - I know I am having issues at the minute with hospitals. I wanted to labour in the same ward that i had my little boy on but because of my iron levels they have put me at a high risk of bleeding afterwards (anyone who hasn't bled after having a baby raise you hands please!) but the ward i wanted to be on is only a mid wife led unit and has no doctors or facilities etc so its more a safety thing for myself that I have to go to a hospital half hour away instead of 10 minutes .

Although did have a conversation with partner last night about it and it basically went

Owen : so if you go into labour why cant I take you to port talbot?

Me : because I'm not allowed in case I need drip/ help etc they wont give it to me there and I need to go to bridgend

Owen : but if your in labour surely they have to help you

Me : Yes but they cant give me the exact care I need so if I was to bleed they would have to blue light me to bridgend anyway

Owen : Ok but port talbot are still a labour ward?

Me : Yes but midwife led and I need to have a doctor on standby so need to go to bridgend

Owen : but its still a labour ward?

Me : Yes but they still don't have doctors in case of emergencies

Owen : Well the M4 doesn't have labour wards in case of emergencies

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: have told him that if i go into labour whilst hes in work his mum will be bringing me over to the hospital anyway and I did see his point but uh! men!!!! and even when I said I'd be blue lighted he said he'd follow in the car!:eek::eek::eek: like sh*t!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: you'll be in the bloody ambulance with me!

tinks mine says no need for a full bladder on the letter again but not sure if that is because they are gonna try to do an internal one as well. I think the equipment is better than when I had my other 2 little uns, so no need for the full bladders, which is good with the amount of time they are always running behind. My hospital also don't do the scans until 22-23 weeks grrr for the wait.

when I had my 20 week scan I went with a full bladder and they asked me to partially empty it :eek::eek: easier said than done when you are due to burst and have had a child previously so your pelvic floor isn't what it use to be - was near on impossible but I managed some how - I would drink a little before hand but not loads - failing that you could always ring the unit just to make sure. x I know for an internal you don't need a full bladder.

Tinks, again I think I had an empty bladder - don't think it matters these days, but I'm sure if they are having probs they would ask you to drink some liquids! If not sure ring the antenatal section?

Merfe mine was 22 weeks too, so frustrating the extra 2 weeks when other people behind you find out the flavour and you have to wait.

Or when people are 2 weeks behind your due date and pop before you do!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Urgh! I know 2 people who were due after me and have popped before me now and one of my friends isn't due for another 2 weeks but due to diabetes she is seeing her consultant the same day as me to discuss induction - told her I can see her having her baby before I'm even booked in. Will so not be amused.

Although have raided my cupboards today and discovered I have everything to make my favourite pudding - TRIFLE! - and I'm really looking forward to making and eating it for tea tonight so watch me be in labour now before the jelly is even bleeding set! Also am having a day cleaning as I had Ben/ Owen and Josh ill all weekend so cleaning took a back seat and I'll be mortified if I go into labour and anyone had to come into this bombsite!

Lol Sammy I had a very similar discussion with my OH last night! He kept saying 'why cant u give birth at the birth centre' and so on!! I am not sure what to do really, the hosp have said they might need to do an emergency c section if I dont progress during labour as I naturally have very low oxygen level, thus putting the baby at risk. I probably am best off going to the 'big' hospital but it seems a PITA as its 45-60 minutes away, parking is TERRIBLE and obviously as its such a big labour ward I may not get my wishes fulfilled! But at the end of the day, the baby's safety is my main concern, if something happened just because I went to the local hosp as I wanted a pool I would never forgive myself.

Thanks Xmas and Sammy for the advice :)

Fuzz: I can completely sympathise with you on shrinking wardrobes. I only have just over 5 weeks left, and I can now only do up 2 pairs of my pre-pregnancy trousers, the rest I wear undone! I have only bought 1 pair maternity jeans (that are heavenly to wear!) and I have no plans on buying anything else with such a short time left, plus I am generally tight with money! My tops all seem to be getting shorter and shorter!!!

    !

and there you have hit the nail on the head.........:)

I have heard some horror stories about the place I have to go to, and then a lot of good stories too and my sister had two c sections there but I will see how I fair there first.

Like you said tis fro the babies safety as your main priority despite it being a PITA - trust me you should see the road sI have to travel down to get to my hospital :eek::eek::eek: Im sure boyfriend is more concerned I'll deliver in his Golf - I swear he'd marry that car if he could! - but at the end of the day I know if he had to choose between convenience or our safety then I'll be at the hospital in record time. In fact if the same discussion arises as last night I may use that as my reply................. :T

Not much to tell from me! I'm getting bigger, my range of clothing that's acceptable to wear in public is diminishing by the day.....and I'm only a week away from viablity:j:j:j :D:D:D

Fuzz - I am living between two pairs of jogging bottoms, and some long boob tube style tops which when pulled down cover bump and what remains of my dignity nicely - plus they are nice and cool so I'm not overheating. Do think that my neighbours must think Im very reclusive now though because all the blinds and curtains are shut constantly. If I was brave enough though these last few weeks Id of been walking around starkers  because Im just too hot!

The full bladder is only necessary before 12 weeks when the uterus is in the pelvis.. after that you don't need a full bladder.
