  • Sometimes you just cant though chick and you need to reach out and ask for help. It only makes you human. Although asking for help is apparently something I should do more often instead of 'coping' by myself!

Cant really comment on the rest of your post having never experienced it myself hun but wanted to say welcome to the thread - when are you due and do you know if you are team blue or pink?

    x

Team Blue, due on 25 August :)

I know what you mean about asking for help, but genuinely I don't feel that i need anything right now as I've moved on and got all the negativity out of my life. (I sound like a hippy don't I!). Was a bad point in my life back then, but just wish there was a cut off point as to these things being brought up. Or just that they'd listen to me and take into account that I really don't want it! :)

Afternoon all, I had my GTT test yesterday so just waiting on the results now. Wasn't as bad as I expected and I could quite happily have had a nap in the antenatal waiting room.

With regards to maternityleave - I am finishing 2 weeks today :j:j:j. I'll almost be 31 weeks. Although I am using annual leave and actual ML starts when I am 33 weeks. With my other 2 pregnancies I finished between 32 and 35 weeks and never got bored - I was always napping lol.

Internals - never had one during pg. This time I have to have a swab at 34 weeks to check for group B strep - not looking forward to that.

Anyone sent off their HIPG form recently? Just wondered how long it took to get your money. I sent mine off last Tuesday. Do they send you a letter first or does the money just magically appear in the bank?

  • TNV you don't have to do anything, if you don't want to go to the appointment don't. At no point can they force you to do anything, especially when you have been well & healthy for so long. I find the way they have treated you shocking especially as the other midwife felt it was not an issue. So sad that moving has caused you all this added stress/interference

To be honest, so do I! I feel like I'm being bullied into going as they have taken away my next appointment with the midwife at the doctors surgery and told me I have to wait for this appointment letter to see the hospital consultant and then the mental health consultant and hinted VERY strongly that if I didn't go they would recommend me to NOT have the homebirth that i have my heart set on.

I am so upset my it, as I feel that i've moved on, but it's like they won't let me.

TNV be careful, they can be sneaky like this and if you don't jump through all the hoops they may refer you to social services (which I can tell you don't need) and that's more hassle than you want right now! PM me if you want to talk or anything, you know where I am, even if I'm a total stranger ;)

Well I've been to Physio today, I do have SPD, but I already knew that! The lady was absolutely lovely, gave me a bump support and said I carry a lot of tension in my shoulders and asked me if I could come to the relaxation classes so will text the regular MW and ask her to refer me.

It's soooo hot here been wilting all day, especially in the almost one hour bus ride to the hospital :( I'm off to go and crunch 12 ice cubes :D

Congrats to Fernlie, lots of brave ladies having Homebirths!

Ring up and remake the MW appointment at the surgery. TELL them you are not willing to see a mental health anybody they cannot force you to see them if you don't want to!

I currenly have them going hysterical because I am refusing to see anyone at all and refusing to go to the horrible hospital here.. they have threatened everything but social services so far.. then in the next breath they say they don't want to make me do anything I'm not happy with.. but can their supervisor come talk to me about how they could support me in having my baby here.. ie.. how can we bully you to do what we want you to do? .. I refused to even speak to them since..

ooh I was thinking of ringing the gp surgery to see if they could tell me what they want me to make an appointment for.. I'm not ill so don't need an appointment as far as I am aware! Letter said 'we had correspondance from mw and want you to make appointment to see gp asap'.. nah.. it's ok... lol

They can strongly hint all they like, at the end of the day they can't force you to have a hospital birth. I would tell certainly refuse the mental health appointment if you feel that strongly. You can also re-book with the midwife and refuse the consultant at the hospital referal if you feel it uneccessary...

Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

One thing I do think it's important to consider, the mental health team will be genuinely pleased to see that you are doing well & getting on with life & I imagine a touch unimpressed that their time has been wasted. If I had to jump through those hoops to get a home birth I'd do it but it's a personal decision & they can't make you. I wouldn't mind seeing the consultant instead of the midwife, just another box ticking exercise & one I have to do myself. Because I've got an under active thyroid I have to be cleared by a consultant to have bean at the midwife lead unit. In many ways it's annoying as my blood work has been stable for 17 years even when pregnant the last time. I'm hoping they use some common sense & agree as long as my blood work remains fine.

:rotfl: bet your anaemic! (an on going long joke now me thinks!)

Also meant to say that I am going to see the consultant tomorrow - they aren't quite sure what to do with me now I refused the IV iron therapy so they are just palming me between people but aware I have to go over tomorrow as she may talk about induction /sweeps etc being that tomorrow is my due date. However I am taking back up.......in the form of............my mother in law!
    Time to find me again

TNV are you able to book a gp appointment and discuss your concerns with him you may be able to see another midwife if you feel this one isnt & wont listen to you. I hope you get it sorted though the stress cant be helping.

Someone asked about my slings i'm not making them exactly its just a length of cotton jersey that you wrap around you in a certain way someone posted a link a while back i will find and post later and bump it so you can see :-)
