Yeh Medway is supposed to be good for maternity. Though don't think much of it for any other department!0

Hi All,
Sorry haven't posted in a while, have just been lurking! Congrats to all the new arrivals and hello to all current mums and bumps!
I've decided I have had enough of work, so have bought my maternity leave forward from 16 August to 2 August so I now finish work on 16th July with all my leave taken into consideration.
However, I have also decided that I now hate the NHS.
Basically, two and a half years ago, I ended up having a nervous breakdown which ended up in me being admitted to a psychiatric ward for a month until I got myself back on my feet. I wasn't on any medications then, and haven't felt the need to go and request any as I now feel perfectly fine and consider it a bit of a blip. I went through some counselling at the time, which stopped a couple of months after I was discharged as they didn't feel that they could offer me any more support.
However, now that I'm pregnant, this has turned into a huge issue even though NONE of my circumstances are the same. New house, new husband, new job. I'm perfectly happy and have a huge support network around me that I didn't have then.
When I was first pregnant, I moved out of the area that I was admitted to the hospital in, and fell under a different NHS trust. When I was booking in with them at 12 weeks, I was completely honest and upfront and they felt no need to refer me for further help.
About two weeks ago, I moved back to the area and needed to book in again with the new midwife under the old trust (if you follow me). Since then, I've had nothing but issues.
All of the blood tests have had to be repeated even though I had my notes given to me by the first NHS trust midwife. Everything. Even my blood type which won't have changed!!!
But what's worse, is they have now decided that I can no longer have midwife led care, I now need to not only see a consultant instead even though I've had no health problems throughout the whole pregnancy, but I have also been referred back to the mental health consultant from when I had the breakdown.
I do not want to do either of these things, but have been told I don't have a choice. I have bad memories of that ward, and don't want to revisit it again because it happened nearly 3 years ago at a bad point in my life!
If I hadn't got pregnant, they would have not called me back to assess me so why now? Surely I should be able to refuse this if I feel ok in myself? I understand that they are trying to cover themselves, but surely i am in the best place to tell if I am struggling or not??
Sorry about the rant ladies, and for bringing down the tone of the thread but it makes me feel so upset. I feel stupid enough as it is having had a breakdown as I "should have been able to cope" so why are they making me go and relive the whole thing all over again when I'm all hormonal?
Argh!!!

Sometimes you just cant though chick and you need to reach out and ask for help. It only makes you human. Although asking for help is apparently something I should do more often instead of 'coping' by myself!
Cant really comment on the rest of your post having never experienced it myself hun but wanted to say welcome to the thread - when are you due and do you know if you are team blue or pink?
xTime to find me again0 -
TNV you don't have to do anything, if you don't want to go to the appointment don't. At no point can they force you to do anything, especially when you have been well & healthy for so long. I find the way they have treated you shocking especially as the other midwife felt it was not an issue. So sad that moving has caused you all this added stress/interference0
