Esio and Sammy - BIG HUGE VIBES to you ladies!!!

Merfe, I've only ever had abdominal scans, not internals. Wonder if it varies from region to region?

Delain, that's awful! There's no way you should've been expected to go a fortnight with raging thrush, preggo or not. Glad you've got it sorted though, nothing wrong with tears at appropriate moments.

Merfe - at my 20 week scan he did check the cervix and point it out, but only as part of the normal scan. Only time I had an internal was when I was diagnosed with pcos

morning all! Just a quick update to say, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl this morning at 2.59am. Not decided on a name yet, but she was born weighing 7lb 6oz, at home with no pain relief. Had a long, 26 hour labour but it was worth every minute. After being told after 18 hours of labour that there were no MW to come out to me, I stood my ground and said I couldn't come in and would ring back on shift change, we got a phonecall half hour later, saying that a midwife could come out in an hour. She came out and was absolutely amazing, the second MW was also lovely too, really restored my faith in NHS, they just left me to it really! It went so smoothy, and exactly how I could have wished!

Esio- aw hun, it is no fun having a long labour, I had 3 days of contractions regular and strong, followed by 26 hours of labour with DD, then this time round it was just 26 hours of labour, but thankfully no pre labour to speak of. Hope baby makes an appearance really soon chick!! I found warm baths, bouncing on my ball and walking helped at first, but after a while you just get exhausted. Try and rest if at all poss, even if only for 10 min bursts as you will need your energy! x

Had a busy day here today, was out with my mum all day. Little monster being really active still!

I had a mw nightmare too! (tmi alert :o) Been really suffering with thrush, went to mw for check and she wasn't very helpful and said there was no way the GP would sign a prescription without seeing me and as it wasn't urgent I had to go and see them  I rang the doctors and was told if it was non-urgent I could have an appointment in two weeks! Anyway I got upset and the receptionist asked what the issue was. I explained, and she said it wasn't non-urgent and put me on the nurses call back list. She rang back and was very nice, I explained to her and she seemed quite cross that the midwife had just left me suffering and not bothered to help at all, and said 'I'll get the doctor to sign a prescription for you as you should be treated asap, come get it in an hour' If I hadn't got tearful on the phone I could have been left to get worse for two weeks :wall: :wall:

I am beginning to see how you feel the way you do about them Pigpen!

at least they offered you an appointment.. ours you ring at 8am.. if you ring after 8:30 ALL that days appointments are gone and you have to try againthe next day.. there are NO pre-booked appointments.

And I ALWAYS refuse to tell the receptionist what is wrong.. they are not medically trained and have no need to know what you are wanting the appointment for! I just say.. 'that is between me and the doctor!'

If they refuse an appointment I demand a home visit.. miraculously appointment materialise then!

good question - I have absolutely no idea...I expect until I get to 4-5 minutes (been at 10 minutes for almost 24 hours now), my waters go or the baby gets less active through being fed up too. The MW wasn't exactly explicit - paracetamol and baths are apparently the only advice we have and if those don't work - tough!

I wouldn't even bother with paracetamol or baths.. do you not have a tens machine you could try? or borrow from seomone/hospital? (the surestart I used to live near had them so it might be worth giving them a ring).. Go for a march.. not a dawdling waddle.. a big cross stomp... that will get things shifting if they are meant to be!

Oh yeah was also going to ask, the 22 week scan were yours just abdominal scans?

The leaflet for it says they do an abdominal scan and a vaginal one to check the cervix. They didn't used to do this when I had my others so I wondered if it was a new thing or if anyone else has had it?

Mine have all been abdo scans BUT.. there is a trial thing running in some areas where they check the cervix for signs of opening/weakening to see if they can prevent some prem births. If you don't want an internal scan.. say no!!!!!!! It is your body, you are not a piece of meat for them to do as they like to.. just refuse it.. you can refuse any kind of intervention at any time.

congrats fernlie that's great news xxx

Thanks for the answer, yep pigpen that it what its for and also to check blood flow for risk of pre-eclampsia or something. I'd never heard of it before. I might ask if its really necessary as neither of my others came early and I'm not at risk of pre-eclampsia so would rather have this pregnancy without an internal scan - managed to avoid them so far.

Another one hehe Those that have had GTT how long have you had to wait for the results? I had one on friday and they said the results would go to my GP who I assume will only be in touch if there is a problem.
I didn't get to ask the midwife any questions yesterday because after she couldn't find the heartbeat I was in a hurry to get DS and get up the hospital and forgot everything else.

Fernlie CONGRATULATIONS! I admire your dedication to us as well, giving birth at 2.59 and posting on here before 10! Lovely you got the birth you wanted too.

Cripes, I can't look at that list anymore. Looks like Esio's slowly but surely getting there, Sammy's little miss has just got to make up her mind, and Sonee's having a c-section tomorrow. I'm way too close to the top. Trying to stay calm, although having spotted the beginnings of bloody stretchmarks under my belly - yes I do a mirror check :o I'll be glad to have bubs before I wind up covered in them.
