You can hold a lot of water in the first few weeks... I know 2nd time round at 7wks I couldn't do up any of my trousers... Can't really remember 1st time... I only had 1 pair of maternity trousers... And I didn't get them until christmas and she was born 13th March... No maternity tops... Just all the bigger sized ones I'd just slimmed out off... I never did slim back out of them after though...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Gosh what a scare glad all okay i must say when i went to midwife at 18wks she asked whether i wanted her to try and find the heartbeat as it can be quite hard to find before 20 weeks she said they aren't actually supposed to look for it until 25 wk check!
thanks I know, I didn't ask her to check but they did with my other 2 and had no problems finding the heartbeat. All she could get was my heartbeat and the longer she was searching the fasting mine was going. Bet it paniced the student midwife who was in there for her first day ever bless. Made me panic a bit. Lovely to see baby again and how much its changed in just 3-4 weeks. She gave me a couple of pictures and they are loads better this time too.
I had a typical small boy bump and massive grest big waddling girl bump, its one of the main reasons I'm thinking a girl this time but I could be wrong.
MV I was deffo in maternity clothes by then, they are more comfy for a start and I had a wardrobe full of them.
We have just been to buy a new to us car, going from a lupo to a zafira so just a small change lol But we need it to fit the baby in. We only got the lupo in feb opps. He gave us a great part exchange and the car was really reasonable so couldn't pass it up even though we were just window shopping.0 -
Thanks all
Feeling a bit better after MW earlier - talked to boyfriend who said I should ring up and cancel the consultant appointment if he thought she was going to be a pain in the backside. Have to go back and see my midwife on July 6th too.
have spoken to another mum who saw the same consultant and said she found her really stand off ish and didn't like her either so I know its not just me! Seems to contradict herself a lot too.
No way am I going for IV stuff at term though - not a chance! I'd rather have the port in my hand and fluids during labour. Plus like some on here have mentioned 8Hb isn't too bad considering pigpen got to 5. something or other I think mine looks quite good!
PIGPEN - when your levels dropped did they give you a blood transfusion?? or just bed rest and tablets?Time to find me again0 -
Congrats to all the mummies! Redmel you are so brave with the home birth!
Been reading everything, but been feeling great so nothing to report. I have my 20 week scan tomorrow (was 20 weeks on Sunday) and have been non-stop movements today.
I watched Baby Tales yesterday and a first time mum was induced and (after 6 hours of nothing) went from 1cm to 10cm in an hour. Then she was brought to the delivery suite and had the baby in 10 mins:eek: The baby was 9lb 2oz. I want that kind of labour!! (I can dream!)0 -

My mum commented last night that my stomach looked bigger than normal.
My first I was in maternity stuff by about 9 weeks.sammy_kaye18 wrote: »No way am I going for IV stuff at term though - not a chance! I'd rather have the port in my hand and fluids during labour. nope.. I didn't have either. With DS1 when it was 7.2ish I was TOLD I didn't want a transfusion and they wrote I had refused one in my notes.. and I was given tablets.. which I didn't take.
DD3 when it was 5.1 I wasn't aware how low it was until she was a week old.. the community MW went crazy that I had been 'sent home' (I discharged myself and baby) without anyone checking.. they can do it on a finger !!!!! test so it doesn't take forever it takes about a minute! Not quite as accurate but good enough! They wanted me to go back in for a transfusion BUT.. my breastfed week old baby was not allowed to come with me.. needless to say I didn't go. With her I was up about within a few hours.. in the shower at 11am after she arrived at 5am.. I was a bit dizzy but goodness the whining the other women on the ward were doing I was fit to kill them!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Hmmm............see now compared to your levels and some other stories I have read on the net my levels are higher than both and I've been taking iron tablets - had a shockingly bad day yesterday but have been good today and before when I found out they were so low - plus eating properly. SO hoping they will have gone up but MW has written in my notes that I can have a normal labour so I presume they aren't majorly concerned but will keep a close eye on me. Will still keep taking them though.Time to find me again0 -
TBH I have lost very little blood with all mine.. about 250mls is the most.. and they are squealing about PPH this time round.. yawn.. yeah whatever! so clotting etc has never been a factor either (I am aware that is not to do with Hb)
I would rather have the transfusion than the tablets.. and I'd rather have the IV treatment afterwards than the transfusion..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Hello all, back to being boiling here!
Am going for a 'drink' with my friend tonight, she is driving and I won't be drinking so it will be lime and soda all the way. I'm shattered but working from home tomorrow so will be nice to get out.
The road safety lady from work is going to advise me on car seats and make sure it's properly fitted. She thinks she even has an infant carrier she can lend me. She said last week she did a week at the local tescos checking car seats and only about 15 out of 100 were fitted correctly. There was even a 7 month old on a booster cushion with a normal seatbelt because the parents thought that was ok as the baby could sit up :eek:Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
Yeah they gave me all those stories too.
I know iron is to do with the oxygen in your blood not the clotting element of it and I never had a problem after Ben - no excessive bleeding - despite me being so young and him being so big for a first baby - he was 9lb 7ozs and it was never an issue then despite me being anaemic when I was having him and I rarely took the tablets then.
Like I said Ive been ok with them this time but still doesn't stop them trying to scare the bejesus out of you does it?
She did mention I could bleed excessively but then in the next breath said it could be a few hundred mls of blood - no idea what/if i lost with ben - but then they have put me into a hospital and not a birthing unit so I'd be in the right place and surely anyone can have a PPHTime to find me again0 -
I keep disappearing. totally exhausted. I think i need to look for mat clothes. 2 pair of work trousers won't do up neither will my suit skirts. maxi dress is fne in this weather but if its raining i will look like a muppet.
a blood count of 8 is low for a normal person apparently but mine is never higher than 10 so 8 seems decent to me. I have had a PPH both births 2l and 1.25l TBH I have never know a different birth so no idea if it was bad or not. I refused transfusions both times and with baby number 2 i was induced the friday evening, out sunday afternoon and wandering about tesco on the monday morning with toddler and baby in trolly beratting OH for not having food in the house ( i had pre e and was in hospital a week before induction)
This pregnancy is tiring. hell i'm only 6-7 weeks and i'm exhausted. I had a 2 hour nap this afternoon and i'm still sleepy. I am screwed when i am back to work on mondayMF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000
