I know iron is to do with the oxygen in your blood not the clotting element of it and I never had a problem after Ben - no excessive bleeding - despite me being so young and him being so big for a first baby - he was 9lb 7ozs and it was never an issue then despite me being anaemic when I was having him and I rarely took the tablets then.
Like I said Ive been ok with them this time but still doesn't stop them trying to scare the bejesus out of you does it?
She did mention I could bleed excessively but then in the next breath said it could be a few hundred mls of blood - no idea what/if i lost with ben - but then they have put me into a hospital and not a birthing unit so I'd be in the right place and surely anyone can have a PPH
THAT is exactly what they try to do.. they give you half a dose of info and try scaring you into submission. i think it is because they hate people doing what they want and having a choice... the consultants are THE worst for it by far.. I don't have one this time
Most people I know who have had a PPH have been first time mums.. I know it cannot be guarantee'd I won't have a PPH this time BUT it is highly unlikely given I havenever had one before.. yet they harp onabout me being more 'high risk'.. actually no.. you can bleed with ANY delivery no one delivery has more of a chance than another.. apart from my friend who bled heavily after all 4 of hers.. but redheads are more likely to PPH than other people as they naturally have lower platelet counts... and fewer body hairsLilacPixie wrote: »This pregnancy is tiring. hell i'm only 6-7 weeks and i'm exhausted. I had a 2 hour nap this afternoon and i'm still sleepy. I am screwed when i am back to work on monday
I slept pretty much constantly for the first 16 weeks!!
I also have a Hb of 'anaemic' normally.. though it was 9ish at 28 weeks so no dropped much at all this time.. YET!!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I had a transfusion with my first had to have 3 pints of blood it was vile. My blood count is 11.5 at the moment but they still have me on iron supplements but then that is low for me i normally have a really high blood count.
Ive felt really tired and crappy all day but have managed to be really productive i took the kids to school went to antenatal sorted out the stairgates some one should come and fit them in about 4 weeks. Had the skip delivered and have just emptied the contents of the garage into it You can now see the floor in there and walk around it. Just got the rest of the house to declutter now but shouldnt take to long as i am being ruthless if it hasnt been used or seen the light of day for 12 months its going.:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -
When I was pregnant with DD1 I gave up smoking but didn't tell work... Used to sneak off to the smoking room just to lie my head down on the table and grab a 5min snooze lol...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Is it wrong to banish one's OH to the spare room on humid nights like this?
My OH has been sleeping in the other room pretty much for the last few nights..it's so hot, and I really like having the bed to myself at the moment!
He doesnt mind (means I'm not nudging him all the time to stop snoring!), and to be honest any other bed-related activity, aside from sleeping aint happening at the moment!!Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
urgh at consultants. I did not like mine last time and apparently it has not changed. Gah. I point blankly refused IV treatment or a transfusion and didn't take my iron tablets. I rally didn't see a point. I have intestinal trouble and trouble absorbing iron b12 folic acid etc. I also have a clotting disorder and PPH risk was more likely than not ( not a red head just have stupid blood) Now I am quite philisophical about my dodgy blood, I know it does weird things. I know I will probably heamorrage and I have made an adult decision regarding that. Simple things like the LO gets skin to skin with OH not me initially while i'm sorted, a line inserted in early labour and a drip of coagullants hung at the completion of 3rd stage. Injection cord traction and uteral massaging to quicken 3rd stage and minimise blood loss . I am not stupid but she was full of scare stories re blood count and other such crap. Oh then i was induced due to pre eclampsia at 38 weeks because baby had not grown for a week apparently, she was 8lb 3MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000

Na just banish him whereever. I am cruel and heartless though but if he is making me uncomfortable he gets banishedMF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -
hehe.
I think my OH actually quitr likes being in the spare room. He gets too hot in bed, and I am the worlds lightest sleeper, so he gets poked and prodded a lot in the night as he snores.
I just tell him I'm doing an important job 'incubating'...I use that a lot actually!Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
MV - I've been in the spare room for weeks...I prefer it as I don't worry about waking DH and he doesn't wake me and it's a slightly softer bed so I can get more comfy!
Lovely evening with friend, think she was a bit disappointed she can't give me more baby stuff as I've got so much but there's a few bits she can pass on!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
I've bought 6 sleepsuits in 0-3months... I am so organised! lol
Sheets arrived earlier.. just waiting on the stand... OH asked when it was likely to come.. and I thought he was expressing an interest.. but no.. I ordered a pc game for him at the same time.. I may insist on keeping it until his birthday next month now just to be mean lolLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
