Many thanks ladies. I shall be getting some Gaviscon then and hoping that does the trick.0

sammy - plenty of orange juice too as it aids iron absorbtion (vit c)
So with the mothercare delivery, if i order it tonight it will hopefully come friday...the shop downstairs are good at taking things in otherwise, I will pop in and ask them if that's ok on my way out I think and then order tonight.
I have ticked a fair few bits off my to do list, but can't do everything from home so need to plan better if it's a regular thing and maybe sort out remote access. I need to head off in about 10 mins, better get some lunch I guess!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -

my scan is at 2:30 and i mihgt be going alone. OH couldn't get time off and he is a lorry driver. he is on the lightest route possible instead but is 90 minutes drive away and my appointment is in 2 hours. Stressed is not the word. After a testing day yesterday, bean's father has decided to play no part in the pregnancy, not have anything to do with him/her once born.
In fact he texted last night to say the only contact he expects now is from the CSA once "it" is born
I have 20 week scan tomorrow, will now be going alone. And at the moment, facing everything (including labour and birth) alone.

So was informed today that I cant give birth at the birthing centre like I wanted to - instead I have to go to a hospital that I've heard nothing but horror stories about. Have also been referred to a consultant who I have to go and see on Thursday morning at my local hospital.
has anyone else had this problem with their body just not absorbing iron??
Your body IS absorbing iron.. but the baby is stealing it all to make his own blood.
Have a glass of Orange juice or vit C tablet with the iron as it helps it be absorbed.
It isn't your Hb that is problematic it is the iron STORE.. with a decent store you will be back within normal ranges within a few days after the birth. You can't build up a store when you are making more blood than usual.
Ask them about the iron injections if the tablets are making you bunged up..
I am normally anaemic as well.. but other than with this pregnancy I have felt fine.. so I just put it down to being 5 years older than when I had the last monster.
Mine was 5.1-7.6Hb by the time mine were born and I was absolutely fine.. though the staff were amazed I could actually stand when it was 5.1.. dunno why I felt fit as a flea!
You can take the spatone AS WELL as the iron tablets.. if you fancied doing both?LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Aww Emsy that is awful *hugs* hopefully you will be better off without the ****! What an awful pressure to put on a pregnant lady. Really hope your ok.0 -
Emsy.. you are quite probably better off.. though it won't seem like it right now. I thought you had a cousin or someone you were having as birthing partner? You don't need him and given his behaviour the children certainly don't... give him a few days to stew and he will probably change his mind anyway he is just faffing you about some more!
Are any of us close enough we could offer you some support or a hug or a break? I won't be.. noone ever lives near me!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Oh I expect he will try to have some contact once he has calmed down.........all kicked off in Mothercare, as I have chosen a pram with mum (my parents have offered to buy it as their gift) and apparently that means he has been "pushed out"
I did point out that he has been to every scan (had about 6) and mum has not been to anything........well poo to him as I will invite her tomorrow, and i know she will be delighted, dropped enough hints!
DD very excited about it all, she is 7 in a couple of months, and is just an angel, I am soooooooooooo lucky :T
Labour will be alone, as I want mum to have DD, dad is great with her, but only exciting grampy things, mum deffo needs to be there to look after her if more than about 2 hours :rotfl::rotfl:
Indeed I hope to see what team we are in...........I did with DD, and I understand why people do not want to know, but for me, it's an absolute must0 -

He is a "recovering" alcoholic (in brackets as I have no idea if in fact he is recovering, he has moved back to mummy's) and it is very much "me me me" in his world.
He has the hump that he feels I do not understand how hard it is for him.......my pregnant single parent status seems to have escaped him!0 -
